Love that area. Used to go to the Arroyo Tapiado Mud Caves and hike into Sheep Canyon w/ my sons' boy scout troop often. Lots of fun places to explore in Anza Borrego. And lots of cleanup afterwards.
I love the additional info you give on the areas..really good stuff Ian. That van though...I bet it was comfy to have out there even if it was a bit long and low in some parts.
I was out there back in the late 1980s we went as far as the windcaves. Pretty cool, but man you don't want to break down out there.....no way. And of course when out that way a stop at the Iron Door is a must.
thanks! Fish Creek Wash is an out-and-back drive...you could approach it from a couple other trails, but I think the best run (seen here) is to drive from the Fish Creek campground and then head in to Sandstone Canyon.
We actually left it at the very beginning, and drove only the jeeps in there. I don’t think you can get through the narrow portions of it, I’ve been back there quite a bit and never seen a sprinter in it.
Has that squeeze point in Sandstone Canyon filled in with sand that much that the pinch isn't as severe now? I looks as though y'all cruised right through it without a ton of thought/spotting. It almost looks like 8-10" of sand has filled in since the last time I saw it.

So fun, the wind caves are still there, and so is the iron door!

Hi. Nice video. I was wondering are there directions on the roads ? Like start from north or south or it don’t matter?

How far did through sandstone canyon did the van go? I have a similiar van and would love to go in.

we ride through this place quite a bit, and yes, it goes up and down with the rain!
What brand is your hat?
Melin 👍🏼
Can i get there from Sin Nombre Canyon with just a 4x?
definitely seen folks in there with stock Xterra's make that trip
the area was sedimentary (mud). very easy. to ball up. look up sedimentary rock.
hmm...don't really know if that explains it...I think this rock was pretty hard when it inverted
I'm going to guess that you are an Aquarius.
Lol, that’s hilarious, why?
