    No snakes, no scorpions, but plenty of tadpoles and sheep. How lovely it would be if everyone were as respectful of protecting recovering environments as you. Beautiful place!

      I'll take tadpoles and sheep over those alternatives any day! And thank you! 😄

    How sad when humans interfere with nature and cause harm. How wonderful that nature is able to recover. Thanks again you guys for a beautiful and informative video.

    I first hiked to the oasis 25 years ago, what a spectacular piece of natural beauty. Respect both what ir is and represents.

    I’ve heard of this state park but I didn’t know about the palm oasis!! Gorgeous!!

      We learned of it from some another channel we watch (California Through My Lens). From what we're seeing there's a LOT of places to check out in the park and where a 4WD vehicle will definitely come in handy. 😄

    Thank you for not crossing into the restoration area. It took a long time for them to allow visitors back that way, after the fire.

      All the reason to leave it be so it can grow back. A shame it happened but hoping it can be as lush as before in time. 😊

    Great job!!! Very interesting the way you did it. There are palm canyons in Palm Springs....and on the PCT behind Baldwin Lake up by Big Bear there are nice "stands" of joshua trees....and the views are spectacular. I just looked at the weather for Anza B. for next week....84 degrees....Don't think I'll go next week. Darn

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's funny... 84 degrees out here in Phoenix is perfect hiking weather. 😂 Unfortunately, it's the time of the year when the heat starts creeping in ever faster.

      Oh goodness! Talk about timing! 😳 Thankfully you missed the fire and weren't injured.

    • @ralphjones6165

      Us, too. Had just got back to our campsite and looked up the canyon and saw the smoke. So sad. I've asked around and it seems that the boy scouts who burned the grove down never suffered any consequences (and it wasn't the first fire the Scouts started in this park over the years). Went back a year later and amazed to see that the burned palms had erupted with new fronds on top already. Probably shouldn't have been surprised. We had one in our yard at home and it was nearly bullet proof and got so invasive propagating babies around the base was forced to remove it. Two years not and am still digging up newly sprouted palms.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ralphjones6165 We're super happy that the palms grew back too. Considering what you mentioned about the new ones in your yard I shouldn't have been surprised either!

    • @follow_flinn
      @follow_flinn ปีที่แล้ว

      @ralphjones6165 I didn't know it was the Boy Scouts who were responsible. I was there at the same time as that group; they were supervised and seemed very well mannered and respectful.

    The grove and spring exist due to an earthquake fault. The water come up through the fracture.
