I've wrenched on engines over the years so I bought a little green one on 12-9-2023 for $316.00 My dad had big engines like this from 1970-1978. Now I have some old John Deere tractors from the 50s. This engine reminds me of my childhood.
3 - 1.5volts but the ignition box died - then I got another one - it died until I put 9 volt in it - been working fine ever since - Cheers from Canada!
The larger the engine the lower the peak rpm - think ship engines - so to be authentic this little engine should run happily at a higher rpm than a full size one
Not like that it shouldn't! Too many multiple hits before missing. TH-cam 'Enjomor finely tuned', and you will see what I'm talking about, and see why your engine is running so wrong!
Your engine could stand a little more "Governor" spring Fine tuning.....Even This scale H&M model engine can run with 1 Single hit & coast 12 or more revolutions Before the next Single firing hit.....It seems more Realistic like the Full size H&M when it only hits a Single time.....Why not Keep the Final needle valve adjustment Setting for much Easier starting & running experience ?? ....My similar size H&M engine Usually starts on 1st or 2nd flywheel hand flip Cold or warm restart & runs clean & steady.....Keeping the needle valve setting Fixed & finger Choking the carb a flip or 2 when cold let's mine start easy.....Spraying lubricant Underside the piston like you do really prolongs the pistons Rubber O-ring life & very Little gas/Oil mix Ratio lubricant is needed for Cleaner & less wet sparkplug running....
I'm in Canada and it runs great on 2 stroke gas and 10/30 synthetic - both I have handy at all times - the weakest thing on these engines is the ignition box - got another one and running a 9 volt battery on it

Same hear - just love engines - a little one is like having a puppy size one
What fun! I WANT ONE!!!
No I don't. But it was fun watching you make it run.
Spent my entire youth trying to start small engines - now I don't miss it anymore
And many thanks to my friend Ben at @planemad5327 - Cheers!
no problem, love to help.
Where did you purchase this model
Some guy on Ebay - made the base myself - Cheers from Canada Diesel!
How many volts are you using? Just 3 x 1.5v AA batteries?

@@carquestions Thanks for the answer super appreciated......is there a simple way to test the ignition box to see if its a dud?
You desperately need that spring shortening behind the latch arm, to slow her right down
