Depth finder? Nope. 21 foot bass boat with 250 motor? Nope. 35 rod n reels and 50lbs of tackle? Nope. Passion? ✔️. Know how? ✔️. Lot of fish? ✔️. Ton of fun?✔️
Couldn't agree more. The fish don't know or care how nice your truck and trailer are. They shouldn't be able to see your boat. As a matter of fact, they shouldn't see you. Too much time spent on the unimportant details instead of finding out what works and sticking to it.
Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
Man I'm glad I found your channel, Roland. There's some great people fishing on youtube, but there's really nothing like learning from the master himself. Thanks for doing this!
One of the many things I like about Roland Martin. He's not "above" fishing with equipment anyone can afford. Doesn't have to be seen in a $70,000 bass boat with $150 tackle boxes! He's got these, but he doesn't flaunt it in your face!
I love these videos where you head out in your good ol' trusty jon boat. It really drives the point home that you don't need to have an $70k bass boat to go out and catch some fish and have a great time. Fishing doesn't have to be prohibitively expensive.
Wow it just hit me. I was watching you when I was 7 years old. I kinda quit fishing for about ehhh say 26 years. Now I’m 33 and I’m back to watching you again. But now on TH-cam. And I am fishing maybe 1 time a week now. And out of a kayak to boot. I would love to come learn for you for a day. You was my favorite childhood fisherman. I’m glad I can still watch you now today. Thank you Roland. I appreciate all you do.
I grew up bass fishing with an Abu Garcia 5500DA, Stren monofilament, and a Texas-rigged 8-inch Blackberry Jelly Worm. I watched you, Roland, on TV with my dad and we would plan our yearly fishing trips. Brings back awesome memories for me. The equipment has changed, the lures have changed, but the love for bass fishing is still there.
Ya gotta love Roland, no flashy boats or gear and grass roots fishing advice, gets bass every time. Keep up the good work Mr. Martin, the upcoming fishing generation and even us old guys can learn a lot from you.
He's the great American fisherman he'll fish anywhere. Anywhere there's water Lord knows he'll be there. Thanks for the great memories, Roland! My Dad and I would watch your show on Saturdays, strap our 12' Quachita to the roof of the Buick, and head to the pond on Sunday morning. Miss those days, really miss my Dad, but we sure had fun!
You're the only other person I've ever heard say they had an Quachita , my granddad had a 14 ft and I fished out of that over 40 years before I sold it about a year ago .
I can never decide if these are the BEST ads for the senkos cuz he catches a monster every cast, or the worst ads cuz he needs a new worm after one fish every time LOL. Yamamoto senkos are the undeniable champions of rubber worms but their durability and longevity has me reaching for Zoom worms most of the time when Im fishing alone. I can catch 20 bass on a single trick worm. Regardless I just love these Roland Martin videos, used to love watching him, Bill Dance, Hank Parker...all on the TV when I was a kid. Love watching him on youtube these days I feel like he hasn't aged a day.
I've been fishing for 40 yrs, since before I could ride a bicycle. My dad was serious bass fisherman, and between us we've had over 30 bassboats from a jon boats, 30hp super Skeeter, up to 22 footers. But I've never had more fun fishing that the way Roland is doing it here. A cheap, light, nimble, worry free boat that can go any direction over the small hidden waterways. That's a good day.
You got to love Roland. I think he is sharing more "secrets" these days, back in the day the only way you could get a fishin' tip was "catch" the fisherman in the act. Go Pro changed all that and we as fisherman all got better, even Roland. Thanks for the Florida fishin' trip.
“You lose your grass you lose your bass,”,so true Roland. Its happening all over Florida with all the spraying there doing. Keep that spot a secret we’ll be back there for sure . Thanks for sharing your fishing adventure . 🎣👍👊
So true Roland, pause to adjust trolling motor and get bit and should pay attention to that. Many when I'm talking to my fishing partner, and may pause a split second to turn and look, or whatever the case, I get bit. Almost like they are saying I got ya now, while you're not looking. The action you had there was so good, but yet you took time to show the rigging, talk about the line, how you hold the rod up, drop it down to set the hook. Great teaching, but yet you are the best entertainer out there. Great job Roland, and Tyler great filming/editing!!!
I Love Roland Martin ! I have been watching him fish since I was a kid . He has made me a better fisherman . Use to watch him and all the greats on TNN .
Roland the greatest thing about you is you are the realest deal there ever was. Man you are out there on a little john boat sittin' on a cooler. You could have the fanciest sports boat on the market but you really know how to show us a good time!!!!
Thanks for the smiles, Roland. Fun video for a cold February morning up here in NJ. You're making that warm Florida sunshine look really inviting. Can't wait to break out the yak and toss a few swimming Senkos myself.
Man, I hope Scott doesn't get to Roland and make him a 'youtuber'. :D I like how real he is. This man is in a 15' jon boat, sitting on a cooler, teaching us the real deal. Thanks, Roland!
Watching this brings back so many great memories of watching you with my father as a child. Wish he was here to watch with me now and I just wanted to thank you for the great memories and God bless.
Roland you are my favorite fisherman to watch on TH-cam beside your son and since I go after my personal best each time like you my fishing got better. I fish harder with more dedication. Thanks for vids. From Randy. Pontiac Illinois
Well another awesome video it would be really really nice to go to Florida and fish in the Everglades I've only been one time and I fish the st. Johns River but I have always watched your episodes when I could and seen you catch some really big bass great video Rollin thank you for many many years of professional fishing have a blessed day
Thanks for doing these vlogs Mr. Martin. Your passion, knowledge and enjoyment of fishing is infectious. I love everything about fishing. If I’m not doing it, I am watching videos, or reading books to learn more about it. In addition to learning a great deal from your videos, they are entertaining to watch. That is why your videos are my favorite ones to watch. Thanks for keeping our fins high and straight.
Followed you for years on television. Love your youtube. I keep learning a lot and catching more bass. I've got to find a way to get to Florida with a boat! Thanks!
Ha ha ,I fell asleep with this playing and my earbuds in , next thing I know I'm fishing with Roland Martin and catching bass on swimming senkos .I'll have to rewatch the video now .
Roland slaying them with thee O'l Jon boat that's what we use around these Phosphate Pits so we can drag them over the berms and such from pit to pit and get into where the biggins are.
Love the swim senko just wish they would hold up to more then one fish before u gotta put another one on..your your vids your the man learned so much from u thanks..tight lines
I use them weightles a lot of the time. Even in a title water river. I use spike it on the tail most of the time. They work good on a pro model 3/16 spot remover as well.
This is the Second video of your I have watched and I must say, I'm now a huge fan ! I knew your name but didn't know much else. After watching your very useful video involving using a swivel to keep worms from sliding down your hook ( I need that for zoom hornet toads ), I knew you were the kinda Fisherman with tricks I'm very interested in learning. I bass fish Polk county FL and appreciate your tips and videos 😁👍 - Subscribed -
I’ve used a watermelon red swim senko for a couple years now. It has been my go to. I’ve tried using the YUM Swim Dinger but it just doesn’t have the same action and I don’t get near as many bites. Tight Lines Mr Roland!
There’s something right about the world just watching Roland go fishing
Indeed
This dude just puts me in a good mood when I watch him fish. Gets me stoked to go rip some lips
Watching Roland takes me back to Saturday mornings as a kid, love it.
I was literally about to comment with the same thing. Him, Hank Parker, Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance... those were my Saturday morning cartoons.
Depth finder? Nope. 21 foot bass boat with 250 motor? Nope. 35 rod n reels and 50lbs of tackle? Nope. Passion? ✔️. Know how? ✔️. Lot of fish? ✔️. Ton of fun?✔️

@@danielberube5282 Yep as long as it gets you to your spot and back safely that's all that matters.
Not a stocked lake. Trolling motors only and no trailers in this area.
Jerry Thomas this guy even with just the hook no bait at all and he still catch fish
Spot on!

Pops you are the greatest !When you fish..I feel like I'm fishing with you.
Scott you're right there too!
Plywood deck with a cooler seat thats the deal!

Fishing has always been a way to save money!
Boy ole Roland brings back memories of watching his talents on TV as a kid. He's a fishing legend.

Roland, Jimmy, and Bill were the DUDES, when I was a young bass angler!!! They were and are still the Best!!!
Just simple fishing! With a legend, sharing knowledge with us. Thanks Roland Martin.
Mr Martin. You are the man!!
Ya gotta love Roland, no flashy boats or gear and grass roots fishing advice, gets bass every time. Keep up the good work Mr. Martin, the upcoming fishing generation and even us old guys can learn a lot from you.
Nobody more fun to fish with than Roland, nobody else comes close.
I love to watch this channel bc Roland reminds me of my Papaw so much it melts my heart. RIP Papaw

Well hell. Guess I have to go get a pack of swimming senkos now....
Oh indeed.

I love your style sir great video!
ekMo no, Florida is just a great state to be bass fishing in
I just ordered ten packs water melon red and black. My favorite worm bait.
"come out with your fins up" cracks me up every time
Its cool to see him be so modest about catching that first fish.
" make a nice long cast" ... damn ... bird's nest! Lol! Just toying with you Roland! Love you videos!

The most epic bass angler ever sitting on a walmart bought cooler in a 12' jon boat...absolutely killing it! The GOAT!!!!!
Just found this channel. Mr. Martin you are the best.
I love it when he yells "come out with your fins up" lol. This guy is a master fisherman.
“You lose your grass you lose your bass,”,so true Roland. Its happening all over Florida with all the spraying there doing. Keep that spot a secret we’ll be back there for sure . Thanks for sharing your fishing adventure . 🎣👍👊

Mr Martin your the best and thanks for showing how it's done!!
I wish I was down there in Florida with you instead of freezing my butt off here in the U.P. of Michigan.
Thanks for doing the videos.
Thanks for doing these vlogs Mr. Martin. Your passion, knowledge and enjoyment of fishing is infectious. I love everything about fishing. Legend!!! I love watching these Roland Martin TH-cam vids!!
He's the Great American Fisherman!
This is bits of the Roland, we never got to see on TV. He’s funny, and has some zingers!!
Followed you for years on television. Love your youtube. I keep learning a lot and catching more bass. I've got to find a way to get to Florida with a boat! Thanks!
Stay where you are, I will fly down in about 2 hours. It looks like you are having fun and thanks for the tip on the swimming Senko.
Ha ha ,I fell asleep with this playing and my earbuds in , next thing I know I'm fishing with Roland Martin and catching bass on swimming senkos .I'll have to rewatch the video now .

Great vid Roland. You’re awesome. Thx

Ol Roland , slaying em as usual. Up here in Va.the pickerel kill that bait.
Thank you so much Roland for your technique tips and learnings! Great catches as well! Continued tight lines!
Great Job. Love the Videos Roland!
Love that he's just in an old boat with a plywood deck and not some $100K dealio.
Awesome video Sir! Love it! 👍👊
Roland slaying them with thee O'l Jon boat that's what we use around these Phosphate Pits so we can drag them over the berms and such from pit to pit and get into where the biggins are.
Mr Martin, thank you for your excellent instructional videos.
Love the swim senko just wish they would hold up to more then one fish before u gotta put another one on..your your vids your the man learned so much from u thanks..tight lines
Roland goes through senkos like I go through beer.
Yeah, and Senkos are really expensive..too expensive.
Senkos are awesome but they do tear up easily
I bet he gets a good deal on them lol
Great video. New to your channel, but enjoying the content!! 👊
Your Awesome Mr. Roland
We have similar jon boats.
Great video sir, tight lines!
Roland calling his shots! Classic!
I have used the sinko for years and just swimming the sinko I have caught a lot of fish espieaslly in low light times
I use them weightles a lot of the time. Even in a title water river. I use spike it on the tail most of the time. They work good on a pro model 3/16 spot remover as well.
Roland's personal best is probably Florida's personal best
This is the Second video of your I have watched and I must say, I'm now a huge fan ! I knew your name but didn't know much else. After watching your very useful video involving using a swivel to keep worms from sliding down your hook ( I need that for zoom hornet toads ), I knew you were the kinda Fisherman with tricks I'm very interested in learning. Thanks
I love your style sir great video!
Coolest dude on the planet haha
love that old, improvised ramshackle jon boat!
You the man Roland!
Great video Roland. I'm gonna start throwing senkos. I've thrown them wacky rigged a little, but that's about it.
Yum diggers are very affective to with swirling tail work green and white
Love some RM. The legend.
Will have to try some of these.
Wish I'd seen this video before I went to Bass Pro this morning.
All that shallow water fishing makes me think of the shallow grass flats I fish in the Texas bays on the coast. Very similar style of fishing.
You Roland are fishing for me!!!
Come out with your fins up. You better believe I'll be saying that this year when i fish
I’ve used a watermelon red swim senko for a couple years now. It has been my go to. I’ve tried using the YUM Swim Dinger but it just doesn’t have the same action and I don’t get near as many bites.
Tight Lines Mr Roland!
I wish i was your cameraman, what a great job he has. Filming for a Legend and getting sum casting in also. Is he watching out for gators too? lol
You the man roland !
