This is a formidable, if somewhat unwieldy, concerto indeed ! The cadenza of the first movement would have to feature in my top ten, if not top five, of awesome badass cadenzas. I don't find Achucarro's performance as compelling as that by Jorge Federico Osorio who delivers far more punch, and also has the better orchestra and conductor. You wrote this is Achucarro's "arrangement" ? I was thinking that some things sounded slightly different than what I am used to but I could be mistaken, it's such a completely different performance.
