A great cast of Gregory Peck, Burl Ives, Chuck Connors, Charlton Heston, Jean Simmons, Charles Bickford, etc. directed by William Wyler.
Burl Ives won the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor for his performance, as well as the Golden Globe Award. The film was also nominated for an Academy Award for the musical score, composed by Jerome Moross. 🥇

Burl Ives out acting great actors
Ives won best Supporting Oscar for his role.
For a guy who has the singing voice of an angel, Burl Ives could be a really menacing screen presence. I used to rewind and watch that scene multiple times. I'd rate his takedown of Bickford up there with Punkwood's shootout in FFD...for the toughest of the tough guy scenes in westerns.
check out the "day of the outlaw" and then tell me that hes the same guy who sang lavendar blue dillydilly
Thanks for sharing, 🕹🎉
VERY nicely edited...long epic. refreshed by nicely. Clarifies memory, minus longueurs. Manyway. My mom was Dr. Jean Simmons, so... Grew up with only Ives plus classical records on shelf in den. Connors played a
hick 'Superman' on eponymous show. Bickford always rock solid, etc. Many Thanx.
Thanks for sharing your memories and comments, a classic westerns watcher, 🕹🎉
One of my favorite movies of all time. See it as a parable of our own troubled times. The futility of violence is the core lesson. Greg Peck exemplified the moral center many of us wish we had.
That is truly thoughtful remark, thanks! 🕹🎉
Terrific movie. Long, but probably one of the five best westerns of all time, with an incredible cast.
one of the five best westerns of all time, a good rating!🕹😂
Burl Ives earned the best supporting actor award. What a great performance.
Stupid movie
it tells a great story without needless blood and guts. Definitely a classic.
