@@dantruong2582 my parents were the opposite of that and hated movies that made no logical sense, i grew up with that mindset so now i dont want any movie or tv series that isnt actually smartly written, which is to say 99% of movies and 85% of tv series. (ironic that tv series now have better writing and visuals than most movies these days, used to be the opposite was true. many of them are still bad, but less than movies these days.)
The 105mm kicks the tail about 6ft. It feels like a bump in the air lol. MAX weight if the plane plus fuel is around 175,000 lbs but you're probably gonna refuel mid air to top off.

@@lightbearer1550 I mean, M855/SS109 ammo fits inside the standard caliber that the AC-130's armor is made to withstand (up to 7.65 mm) but it _is_ a rifle round and thus gains more penetrating power against the AC-130; however, in order for that power to matter the round would have to strike the aircraft damn-near perpendicular at the time of impact AND it would have to be in a section of the plane where there isn't the thicker 9.8mm APS plating to protect vital components and crew. It is technically possible, just like winning the lottery is technically possible.

Is it me or is Hollywood really misconstruing how the AC-130 is actually operated? The 105mm cannon seems to be firing way too fast in order to be reloaded in time. Sometimes, the pilots are the ones designating the ground targets and aiming the weapons.
On a lot of those fast shots I’d reckon that’s the 40mm, but the 105s are basically automatic and hydraulic assisted now so they do shoot a lot faster than hand loaded howitzers
@@kyoswkyosw1216 105's are not automatic. They are manually loaded. The 25mm and 40mm are autoloaded since they are both loaded via cartidges. the 105mm is the same 105mm gun that is used on the M1 Abrams when that tank first had the 105mm.
Well, the Italian OTO naval howitzer 127/64 fires at about 40 rpm and the 76/62 fires at 120 rpm. Both are certainly heavier systems, but it's pretty clear it can be done.

Can we just take a moment to truly appreciate the insanity of this aircraft design? It’s absolutely incredible anyone had the idea to mount a sideways facing howitzer to an aircraft, so the aircraft can fly, tilting downward, and fire a cannon. I wish I was a fly on the wall in the meeting room with whoever was suggesting that, and the look on other peoples faces, with how truly an absurd concept this is. That was immediate suppression with 105, 25 and 40mm....The second scene, The air is super restricted around the DC area and fighters wouldve been scrambled upon first contact in the restricted no fly zone. The machine guns on that AC 130 would cut people in half since those machine guns are designed for total destruction of ground combat vehicles. that plane wouldve been shot down long before it ever reached the white house. Lone survivor's AC 130 attack is exactly what happens during a firefight but the JTAC is directing shots as they are engaging. same with The covenant's attack. It was a pleasure to have seen the AC 130's going to town on two of my four deployments In Iraq. I would not want to be on the receiving end of a barrage from the AC 130's

You get the impression that each time the air superiority of the US saves their troops engaged in combat. That without this firepower from the skies they wouldn’t be able to overcome the enemy fources.
The problem is that the rate of fire in a circling rotation is more than 1 round per foot. Camera would only be seeing dust of the complete raking of the Earth.

well first of all, given the sus origins of its operators in OHF, I would say lore-wise it would have to be a decommissioned 130 that was home-made into something resembling an AC-130, hence only the miniguns. Hell, procuring the miniguns would be hard enough, much less 40s and 105s
What makes me mad about the scene from the 2nd and 3rd movies were they are inaccurate The AC-130 does not have a button to shoot auto aim duel minions from the front of the aircraft The third one was they never used the 40mm. It was the mini gun and the 105 The minigun makes a lot of sense being the OP4, but spam firing the 105 is not. They would not use it unless the target is a tank, or a building. Which leads me to the part where they go “hostile on the damn. Hitting them with the 105.” NO! That is NOT correct. US ROE would prevent this being used AT ALL! Targeting the dam, especially with a bigger gun, would risk the collapse of the dam. They would not be able to engage hostiles on it except with the minigun. Sorry if it’s a rant, and people may not read it, but it just bothers me that the movie about giant transforming robots fighting in the deserts of Saudi Arabia/Egypt was more realistic than the other 2

I think they under exaggerated the effect of those colossal rounds on the human body. Ammunition that large would make a very effective baloney mist maker. It's understandable why they under exaggerated it though because that would probably be a little too shocking.

I mean you can see in the clip the gunship is flying relatively low, they could in theory hit it but itd be next to impossible
