    Having built my first SAB helicopters, 580 and 700, after years of flying Align. I find the quality of the SAB models are great, not saying others are not quality models, it's just the SAB seems to be better. A flying friend has an M4 and loves it. I really think the SAB 420 and the Goosky S4 (Didn't you already do that comparison?) are more apples to apples. I already have four 400 size helicopters so buying the SAB now doesn't make $$$ sense. I want one though, so I've elected to up my 3D skills using my 400 machines as to possibly thin the herd. But this practice in the past has only upped my skills and not reduced my helicopter inventory. It's interesting how much better you can get flying when you don't worry about crashing. 😉😂

      In my personal opinion SAB makes the best helicopters on the market. I am not P sponsored nothing by them. That is just from all the years. I have flown every single brand pretty much from alternative. Their fit in finish is incredible. Yes they are a little bit more on the expensive side when comparing to some thing like the RS4 or M4. But! I don’t think they are fully comparable in part quality. I wish I didn’t have to worry about crashing! Lol

    I agree on the blue I went ahead and ordered one of the helidirect red canopies. I love how quiet the M4 is because It’s intended to be my park flyer
    The other thing is both the M4 and RS4 are closer to the price of a 470l than the 420 raw.

      The blue canopy disappears terribly with the blue sky. The color is nice but the color on the sky is not. The red will look good! Yes, the M4 and RS4 are much closer on price to the 470 then 420.

    Thanks Jeff! I started with M1 and M2 evo and build a raw 420. Great, super Heli but my tail keeps wagging in every gain settings . I’m waiting on the reviews of the M4 max because it will be exactly the same size with a stronger motor. The crash parts here in Europe of the M4 are the half of the price than the raw 420, something to consider.

      I doubt I will be doing anything with the M4 Max. Unless I purchase one, which I doubt I will either. Have you tried lowering your governor gain on your 420? That will cause a tail wag! Yes, parts cost is completely different between them. The M4 is definitely cheaper to crash.

    I think this may be one of your most viewed videos considering how popular both are. :)
    Jeff, there's a video you had but I don't remember which one. In that video, you were doing some fast big sky flying. There's one maneuver you did which was like a high speed loop but instead of closing the loop, you make an "S". When you made that maneuver, was the top part of the S done by using momentum? I've been trying it on the sim but that second part doesn't end in the loop, I end up just going forward. It's kind of like a sad "5" instead of an "S". I think it has to do with the momentum pushing through the top part of the S?
    I remember seeing it on that video and was like "whaaatt!!!!". Lol

    Your reviews are clear, concise and very informative. I have both the RAW 420 and Goosky RS4 pnp and can say you were bang on the buck with both models. For easy flying days I go with the Goosky and for more harder precise flying I usually fly the 420. IMO the SAB seem to have slightly more locked in flying, I believe its down to the flybarless as the goosky there's not much you can control on it. Anyways keep up with the amazing reviews! Always on your channel! Please PLEASE get a hold of the Goosky S1

The RS4 PNPI think is definitely the FBL unit. Because the venom flies completely different! A lot more locked in. But I’m also running a iKon 2 FBL. I’ve been told goosky is going to release a software where we can fully tune the GTS. My S1 is on the way! Don’t worry!

    I believe this is a review that needs a redo, with all due respect. I have many SAB machines along with OMP, both have their pros and cons. As one example, the M4 should be flown on a 2600 pack. This along with your pitch setting change the power curve drastically. At least put a 2400 in the M4. I would enjoy seeing a redo...

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Unfortunately the M4 is no more. After a crash it didn’t survive. Total rekit and I’m not doing that. It’s a good heli that could be great with the right customer service but unfortunately that’s not happening. 6s 1800 is perfect in my opinion on that heli. Keeps it lighter and still good flight times. 6s 2400 will not help the bogging issue.

      Hands down SAB RAW 420 but if your looking for all out power to weight then the RS4 Venom.

  • @FlightLogRC
    @FlightLogRC 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I don’t understand the hype with direct drive helis. I don’t think they are the future, they bog a lot more on lower headspeed and are very inefficient at higher head speed. Also they are very heavy. I fly a goblin 380 kse which is technically a 360 blade setup but nonetheless, I did a flight time test yesterday on 1800mah packs (to 3.7v) and I get 7/6/5 mins on 75/80/85% throttle on a HIGH pinion gear, and the motor does not bog one bit. So it’s more inefficient because it’s 3 blade, has much lighter disk load and more strain on the motor and it still doesn’t bog on a 23t pinion. My friend also tested it on 80% throttle doing advanced 3d and he didn’t notice any bogging. And that model uses a belt for the main rotor so you couldn’t even really make the argument that it much more expensive to replace in a crash 🤷🏻‍♂️ just my opinion but I don’t think the traditional motors are out of the picture yet for anything above a 250

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s great flight times because my Goblin 380 two Blade with a bigger pinion gets 4 minutes of flight time. DD has more power and lighter. Especially the RS4 Venom. It’s significantly lighter than my Goblin 380 by alot and has a bunch more power. My Goblin 380 with 13.5 degrees of pitch will bog under hard collective where my RS4 venom will laugh and keep going. DD is alot loess parts and easier to fix/work on after a crash with a simplistic part count.

    • @FlightLogRC
      @FlightLogRC 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 yeah I run 12.5 degrees on mine. I agree the 380s are heavy for their class. I think the bogging is more of an issue with the 420 since it’s heavier and uses the same size motor. And yes I agree they keep parts count down 👍🏼
