Swing by the historic recording studio The Church Studio just one block north of Route 66 on Trenton street in Tulsa. You will see a great tribute to the Tractors.
I was a postmaster in a little town in the southern part of BC. I always played music - country, old R & B, jazz, blues & 40's stuff, The locals never knew what would be playing every morning when they came to check their mail. Then I booked a trip to New Orleans. I played this song twice a day so all my friends knew I was going on vacation. (And of course Proud Mary) Trying to get to New Orleans - Thankyou Tractors - you are part of my life story.
I love introducing this band to people that have never heard them. This band makes music for all the right reasons, telling stories, having fun, dancing, and showing in general they are good people
Special guest appearance by Scotty Moore and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band; I liked seeing this one musician having fun spinning his string bass around. The Tractotrs should have been a lot more famous; their debut album from 1994 is one for the ages. Thanks to Steve Ripley who left way too soon; he still had a lot of music left in him.
This is one of country music group of all-time and I love this video and this country music song sung by one of the best country music back in the 1990’s. This song is still wonderful to hear today and I love to play again and again.
Their first hits like Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train were big enough that they sent them on tour. They played a sports stadium concert with a couple of other major names in the city I then lived in. I played this one on my radio show's weekly highway song.
From stories I have heard the problem was they were perfectionists when it came to their recording. They had 4 years between their first two albums (not counting the Christmas album). Hard to keep radio interested with that kind of production time.
Me too, I borrow the Tractors cd of a bloke while working in a bar one night, fell in love with the band and the man. Now we have a 24 year old daughter and still listen to the recording I made that night. RIP Steve Ripley. Thank you for the music and the memories.
I was in NOLA in the '70s, I can remember sitting in the alley of the Preservation Hall, listening through the window. They didn't mind if people sat on the window sill. Great times.
you have to find more of their music esp their christmas album. saw them in concert once and while the others were taking a breather the drummer soloed on african drums... he is amazing. and my fav drummer.
@15thstreet60 for the most part it was, yes. Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats brought it back in the early 80s for a while. He's still playing it, just with a 19 piece Orchestra. The experts told him the Orchestra deal wouldn't work. 20 plus years and it's still working.

Is this genre of music known as 'rock-a-billy'
No, not rockabilly. It's just Tulsa style country.
@@rockinredneck57 Thanks for that from 'down under': Now that I think about it rockabilly was in the 1950s wasn't it?

Tragically terrible. (We have to cut them much slack because of the era… but)… this is the sound of nothing. Killin’ me.
