I was only 18 when my dad died in 1985. I was actively doing all I could to be a part of his funeral preparation and funeral. For the next 2 years my mom was just in such deep depression that I was taking care of her and my sister who was only 8. When other guys where doing teenager stuff, I was making sure she ate right, helping her with homework, getting her clothes ready, going to see a doctor when necessary and going on parent-teachers meetings... I couldn't even imagine any other way. I was always hoping that if my dad could see me he would be happy and proud of me. As he was my true hero which I miss all my life.

The audience is laughing, but Jordan is being as real as possible. You can hear the tearful heartful plea in his voice that let's you know that what he's saying is coming from the heart, and he's just hoping that someone, anyone, hears him.

    • @KP-ej7gc

Xx BigBoss xX that’s a joke, right? What do you think the concept of grace is about? “Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.”
I was an atheist. It was through the grace of God that I found my way to Christ. He came after my heart and brought me to the Lord. Even as an atheist, God still loved me, and he was still after my heart. So don’t you dare try to say that God doesn’t bless the nonbelievers. With enough love and prayer, during our time on earth there is still hope for the nonbelievers, and God will not stop trying to go after their hearts.

I always thought the words “he saved my life” to be cliche, cult-like, and pathetic, but with Jordan Peterson i can truly say he changed my life. I was lazy, irresponsible, a victim, always blaming others for my problems, did drugs to escape reality and avoid responsibility until just a few months ago I found out who Jordan B Peterson was. Since then my life turned around for the better. He changed my life for the better, helped me face reality, helped me accept responsibility, helped me find meaning, and overall, accept that life is suffering. Not everything in life is perfect and balanced like we always hope. Chaos, tragedy, and catastrophe is right around the corner, so instead of bracing for a catastrophe we need to embrace it as a time for self-growth. I turned my chaos into order, reduced suffering, and got my life together. Thank you for everything Jordan Peterson.

I found my mother deceased at 6 pulled the plug on my father when I was 24. Lost many others too. At first I thought it would break me and it did but now there’s nothing I’m afraid of losing and I realize that suffering is the reason I am so strong . Jordan Peterson is great man he says like as much as a teenage girl but he’s exactly right about most of his messages because he just states the hard truth . If your hurting beyond comprehension and everything stops making sense , something that helped me was strangers talk w them from your heart find the golden ones and ull find suffering is as ancient as love and our realities are personal it’s up to us to see beyond what cultures in the east call the Lila. Understand that there will always be doctors and murderers and both are just actors in this great drama that the eternal self plays out to have to dance between suffering and love which both need each other

Made me realize that I have to get myself out of the situation that is making me miserable and depressed. I’m very happy where I am in life now. But it was something I was able to obtain because I made very hard decisions in that were necessary. “If you want to have a meaningful life, everything you do matters” is a word I’ll never forget for the rest of my life

This is truly one of the best videos of all time. It nice to hear someone who understands how much suffering and emptiness is in life. Truly when i heard the quote "To be' or not to be." as a kid, i was like ok, i know what it's saying but it didn't mean anything to me. But now, it's one of the saddest most profound quote i've ever heard. Now feeling the weight of being a adult, the absolute nagging heavy weight comes with just living is hard sometimes. To just exist you have to bear the weight and pain of life. That's the cost we all have to pay. And of course life isn't all just doom and gloom if you have friends and a good family but damn, sometimes you just think why me, i don't want to deals with this. But all you can do, is try your best in life. Try to make it as good as it can possibly be. That's literally the only control we have over our own lives. But i do believe in God, and i believe we all have something we were put here to do, and it's up to us if we're strong enough to do it. But sometimes i see friends who love each other deeply. And i see a wife and a husband who love each other more than the world. And i think, will i ever get to experience such joy as well? Or is my job here different than what i would like. And sometimes i just want to scream into the sky so loud maybe i could be free of everything the world binds you in. But we all know it doesn't work that way. And sometimes i feel empty inside. It's as if i can physically feel a whole in my chest. While my heart feels cold and heavy. As i desperately scramble to fill and warm my heart. But at the end of the day i can feel that my heart and soul are longing and trying to reach out for love, as my mind tries to convince me i don't need it........ I would argue that there is no such greater, than love.

@@y04a Thank you, it really means a lot when you say that. But yeah, one of the best pieces of advice i've ever heard was, you have to feel your feelings. And what i found that really helps me a lot, is when you are feeling bad about something that happens to you, write what you feel down on a piece of paper or i use google docs, lol. But you will be surprised if you really sit down and just feel what your mind and body feels, it helps a lot. But, thanks for the nice comments, i hope you're doing good as well.

The Crucifixion is embedded in every string or subatomic particle at the bottom of the universe. "Christ...the lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (Rev. 13:8) - what does that tell you about suffering? And the proper preposition with regard to God is WITH, not UP. But I believe what we as humans would regret the most on our deathbed is living a life without fulfilling our purpose on earth. That's the beautiful thing about following Christ - we find our purpose in him and live our lives following his example. And even if it means forfeiting some of the world's pleasures (at the end of the day they are all vain and mostly lead to instant gratification), we get to do what it is we have been created and called to do on earth and to me that's the highest form of pleasure anyone can have. I had a series of events that caused me to spiral; non of which was of my doing, at my lowest, and most lost, suffering from a existential crisis, suffering more then I have ever in my life, this lecture came to me. I wasn’t looking that I can remember, it’s like the universe knew I needed this and it came to me. Hearing that one line “pick up your suffering and bear it, try to be a good person so you don’t make it worse” literally turned every thing around. Reading his books, listening to his lectures, revolutionized my life. I can not think him enough, I found strength that I was searching for so desperately.

I feel the same about my childhood church experiences but at the same time I don't think I had the same measure of suffering as a child than I do now to pay any attention or comprehend the messages. With that in mind I can look back and relate to the adults that told me to listen and pay attention, because they needed a glimpse of hope to help their suffering. Sure the sermons could have been better put together and taken less as literal interpretations, but considering they even attempted to assemble is a miracle as Jordan says. Karl Marx said that religion was the opiate of the masses, and considering how hurt and broken some individuals are,I say its a well needed opiate seeing as a million other things are also, we could do worse for picking our poison. Pastor Jack Hibbs is a blessing and is what my church should have been.

The problem with modern churches is that they are reminiscent of the Jewish temples and synagogues of the past with the same rituals and chanting of words without understanding them. The temple is our body and the spirit resides in us and only we have the power to change ourselves. Most of us have an easy life and hence we don’t know what we are capable of.
