After following the video suggestions, it was my switch. I fixed mine by accident... I was washing my door panel... rinsed off with hose... Checked window switch and it worked perfectly !!!
I watched this to fix my 1993 Astro, just had to check for the proper wiring diagram first. I used your testing method and have now ordered a new switch. THANKS!
This worked great. I had the issue but with the passenger side. After looking at the schematic in the video I saw that the light blue and tan wires control that side. Used the same process as in the video but with these wires instead and got the window up. Took the extra step and removed the pins for those connections from the broken switch until I can buy a new one. I did this because the driver side still works and I didn't want to accidentally hit the passenger side switch as down still works. Great video. Subscribed.
Oh Ty Ty for this video. You just made my night. My window was not rolling up. I was worried. I had kids to take to school it's freezing. And I have 3 appts to go to tomorrow. My window and now rolled up. And when my husband. Has time he will replace the switch.
did it work changing the switch ? i tried the problem window with the working switch in the back. but it didn't work either.. So, I think it is not related to switch problem..
Just Incase you don't have crocodile clips like he has, whenever he clips to ground, connect your wires to black Black wire for ground. I was able to do this whole thing with just Speaker Wire. Great Vid!
I had the same problem. Replaced the switch. Didn't fix a thing. Replaced the motor and fixed it. Not sure how the motor can go one way but not the other but that was the case.
If the switch uses Dark Brown, Dark Blue, and Yellow, what are all the other wires in the switch for? If that wiring diagram was not available how would you know what wires to jump?
I unplugged the switch and jumped 12v plus and minus to each terminal then reversed it. My motor worked in both directions. Must be the switch. Sucks that I pulled the door apart to find this but the switch is $10 and the motor is $30 so I'm okay that I learned this way.
I can only roll down but the switch is fine. The issue with mine is that the window shifts forward and jams when rolling up unless I palm it back. One of the clips that holds it to the elevating regulator piece seems to have detached. I’ll have to get in there and fix it!
Fixed it soon after I made the post last year. It wasn’t a clip. I found the regulator all bent up but it wasn’t that either. It was bent from trying to roll up with the window jammed (symptom, not a cause). The fix was mostly just cleaning and lubing though I did have to reach into the door and turn some rail in the front toward the window glass. The old lube was caked up everywhere but removing the motor and regulator gave me access. I had to scrape it out of every groove and replace with fresh grease. Dry silicone spray on the edges of the window molding made such a huge difference I almost thought I wouldn’t have to do the rest but it’s only a temporary fix. It stopped the window from pitching forward and jamming for days or weeks at a time but it was still slow and weak. Hardest part was dealing with the spring but I realized that the tension is very different when the window is rolled up or down. Can’t recall what position I needed it in when reattaching but if you have trouble try rolling the window into a better position then reattaching.
Also, my switch did eventually fail. My van came with a junkyard switch, so it presumably failed before… but I switched and got a few months out of the other switch set before it failed too. I bought a cheap replacement and lost the auto-roll-down function. Oh well. You can’t get in to service the switches without breaking the levers/switch caps but I did that anyway. I cleaned the switch contacts and lubed with dielectric grease but it only worked for a couple more months.

@@souleymanecamara8035 If the window rolls down and not up, motor is not a problem. Disassemble driver seat's main switch and clean the contact point. Then it will work for rear window. Temporarily, you can connect 2 points like the following video.

Dina Pagliochini theres most likely a short in the window control wiring somewhere, either a nick or the wire might be starting to become detatched from one of the two areas it connects to...
If the motor leads are both connected directly through the switch and it works one way and not the other, then it HAS TO BE the switch! Could have saved a lot of video production time... 😉

If the window rolls down and not up, motor is not a problem.
Disassemble driver seat's main switch and clean the contact point. Then it will work for rear window.

What id it is not the switch and both windows quit working first the passenger then the drivers side.
