    Im 6 weeks post op. Not much leakage. 1 pad per day. A lot of sweating at night though. PSA test upcoming in maybe a week or so. Immediately after the op was not too bad , catheter out a week later. Very badly constipated because of pain relief tablets, but that was expected. Started exercising straight away and am now back using weights , and a LOT of walking. Especially upstairs. Hoping for a good PSA coming up. And determined to get some kind of erectile function going forwards. Much love to all going through this , but stay positive try not to worry. I know its hard. Im 65 , and will gladly answer any questions anyone who is just starting this process has . ❤

    I just had my surgery yesterday. I"m a healthy 73 years old and on no meds. I had my single port robotic prostatectomy at 7:30 am and discharged by 2:30pm. I was able to do fine yesterday and today with the expected discomfort easily treated with Advil Liquigels. I also am a retired family physician and have diagnosed prostate cancer and followed by patients post operatively as well. I researched the benefits and risks of different treatments and also consulted for proton radiation treatment as well. I felt the best treatment for me as a healthy 73 year old or anyone younger with the same diagnostic findings (Gleason 8 and no spread) would be the prostatectomy only after the PSMA cat scan (that specifically looks for prostate cancer in any other area including lymph nodes) confirms the cancer has not spread and is consistent with your MRI findings, surgery is the best course in my opinion. Using the Da Vinci robot with a single port procedure is an excellent method, but only with an experienced surgeon. Do your research online and personal and professional reviews of urologists in your area before proceeding. Best of luck and hope your post op PSAs are always 0.0.

    Hello Mark, excellent review and it helps a lot to those of us who are in this process. I have been home for 7 days after my prostatectomy, thank God I have had an excellent recovery. I am already 60 years old and I am a little anxious about what will happen to me in my sexual function since the doctor who operated on me did not give me many guarantees because I had a Gleason of 4+4 in 2 samples and you already know that they do not guarantee much nerve preservation when it is aggressive, but living day by day and I will do my part for any recovery. A warm greeting and I hope everything continues well with you. Thank you.

    Had my robotic surgery 5 months, thanks to Marks early podcasts I was able to be confident in taking this route and along with my spouse got through this and recovery uneventful....I was fortunate to only have a catheter for 1 week...and light pads after 2 weeks ....no pads at all last 6 weeks

    6 and a bit months on after my surgery and im doing phased hours at work (8 till 12) its my second week of doing these hours after originally doing 9 till 12,im still suffering with fatigue alot which frustrates me quite a bit as i want to do more but physically can’t .Im trying not to get to down about this as there are so many positives to focus on but id be lying if i said its on my mind. My PSA levels have been very good and im so happy about that ,as i was very anxious waiting for each result to come back.Just want to say to anyone on here going through this journey currently is dont beat yourself up too much it does get easier with time even though it seems so far away.....my wife and kids have helped me sooooo much and for that im very grateful....

    catching up on your journey. I'm 45 with elevated PSa (for my age) 2.99. MRI showed i pi rads 2 and one pi rads 3 lesion, with a biopsy in a few weeks. Prostate runs early and aggressive in my family. My dad passed away at, my grandfather and great uncle. Anxiety is beginning to get to me as I'm hoping if it is anything, it's early. Thanks for your videos and all of your information.

    On July 3rd, I had sugery around 1pm, spent a couple hours in a recovery room, was discharged and home by 530 about 25 miles from the hospital. At home, climbed two flights of stairs to the bedroom. Going up and down the stairs has been good exercise.

    You are 100 % honest which I really respect. This whole thing is not a pretty picture or a pleasant part of life . I need to be knocked out for my biopsy. Sounds like you had a great surgeon. I guess the radiation didn’t work out the first time . Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Hi Mark - thanks so much for your wonderful videos! They have been my North Star as I’ve progressed from prostatectomy to ADT and soon Proton Therapy. Question: did you experience breast tissue growth while on Orgovyx and/or did you take a preventative like Tamoxifen? Thanks! 🙏

    Hi...Im 56 old "healthy" diagnosed with gleasson 4+3, intermediate unfavorable, I thinking to take VMAT radiation + ADT for 6 months instead of surgery(da vinci with an experienced doctor), what do you think?

    • @prostatecancerexperience
      @prostatecancerexperience  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      At 56, your main choice should be surgery.

    • @sipkid4

      I'm 59
      Had the surgery 1 week ago.
      It's a big decision....surgery or radiation.
      My gleason was the same as yours 4 +3 and big family history.
      I chose surgery in end as did not want to be looking over my shoulder in years to come.
      Remember....there are alot of side effects from radiation.
      I hope whatever you decide you are happy.....best luck from Ireland,
      John.

    Hot dogs, bagels and cream cheese french fries, pastrami sandwiches etc! I never thought that you would be eating such junk Mark not a million years. Anyway so when you had the catter in for seven or so days you didn't have a BM? At all? How long did you go before having one. Also didn't you take any kind of laxative? So all that junk food you're eating it was building up you didn't go to the bathroom? Wow! That really surprises me coming from you Mark you seem like such a healthy dude man! Please reply thank you.

      Was this guy eating that junk after he knew he had a high PSA ? Let alone surgery and a recurrence. That’s amazing. I’m surprised he’s drinking a Diet Coke . It’s a known fact the ingredients in those sugar free beverages are carcinogens, I think zero sugar coffee creamer messed me up . I can’t believe he ate that stuff . Good luck to you him and everyone else .

    After such a traumatic operation in having a catheter in for a week or more how could you even think of having sex?! You say within 3 weeks? It will probably take me 3 months minimum! Ha! After my biopsy I play with myself over a month later and blood came out! Oh my gosh! I was terrified and it felt terrible. I tried again after maybe a month and a half and the same thing. Now a year later I hardly ever play with myself anymore because THAT experience really turned me off on .....getting off.😢

    • @richardsimpson8629
      @richardsimpson8629 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You have to keep the pipes clear. After a biopsy, the more often you ejaculate the faster the blood will disappear. The doctors don't warn you, but that first ejaculation after your biopsy is a shocker. In my case, I waited a few days after my biopsy and my ejaculate was bright blood red. Anyway, I took it as a challenge to clear it up in the shortest possible time. Three days a week for three weeks and I was back to normal.
