When they presented their first Album on the short shows. :) This Cover made me to preorder the Eskimo Callboy re-release. @A&P-REACTS Saltatio Mortis had some Changes in their Music over the years, and for now they are very versatile between medieval (mostly on live performances and metal, wwith various degrees between. Some of my personal recommendations are: Wachstum über Alles: th-cam.com/video/MTSitlFXEX8/w-d-xo.html (Growth above everything) (This Song needs a small explanation:) In short explanation: This song denounces the human tendencie to make everything bigger, better, wanting more money always, setting such things as economical growth over basic things. It got kind of mixed responses from fans, because on some very left minded people, they were accused of being "right side minded", because Saltatio Mortis uses the Melodie of the German NAtional Anthem, with making a cover of parts that were deleted from the national anthem after the Third Reich was destroyed. So people just heard the tune, saw the connection to the original Version, but did not realized the message. The Song is a very satirical, cynical Song, and it is great. Not well known? They entered the Media Control Charts with three Albums in a row on Place 1, they Headline the biggest Metal festivals in Europe, they sell out complete tours

Yeah, everybody knows the small village "Dosendorf" and it's little caslte, where King Karl fell asleep during hunting. therefor the village was renamed into "Karlsruhe" but some people still know the former name "Dosendorf" ;-)

Düsseldorf is a little town, with only 600.000 people living there and its capital city of Northrine Westfalia (one of 16 states of germany). But yeah! It's a great song and a great version! React to the other versions too - it's good.

You mean Donzdorf, I live about 20 minutes away. But Saltatio Mortis are not at this label. They're with Napalm Records iirc. And they're mostly located in Karlsruhe, at least in the past. Check out "Mittelfinger Richtung Zukunft" or "Loki" from Saltatio Mortis. But also the older stuff is great.

Scottish bagpipes is of course most well known, but there are plenty of types of that, also known under different names, all over Europe in folk music. So yeah, Scottish people don't have a monopoly on those. Also I believe the "mandolin" thing might be actually be a lute.
Look for In Extremo, esp. the Old Stuff is very Folky and they have a lot, A LOT, of very cool and unique Instruments. Like Cittern, Uilleann pipes, Hurdy-gurdy, Tromba marina, Shawm and of course a Harp. I recommend: Liam, Herr Mannelig, Spielmannsfluch and Vollmond. And trust me this guys now how to party hard.
German Band, many coments like "this is now Bundesrepublik Deutschland" but in germany nobody knows Eskimo Callboy. Only the few Fanboys who knows the Streamer in the original Song. I hope they will crush the roof and coming to the charts.
Saltatio mortis is not that known in non-german-speaking countrys because of their mostly german lyrcis. The lyrics are very important and are about legends, sagas and social/politic critic. But al lot of german folk metal fans love them very much. Me too.^^
2020s song of the year? That is utterly ridiculous…and I agree! If nothing else, there is no way that anyone who saw it didn’t smile. As silly as it was, it was one of the few things that made people laugh and that was sorely needed.
10:00 thats so true. The market will be completly oversaturated. The bands have to be very careful about touring. There will be a high risk, that they won't sell enough tickets to make a profit. They may even loose money. There will be a lot of demand, but fans won't have enough time and/or money to go to every show.
