A new one for me, but now is one of my favorites from Karen! She recorded this near the end of her way too short life, and still her voice never wavered. She will always be missed by millions of her fans. Of course, props to Richard who misses her more than anyone!😢
Great song! Karen sounds great as usual.Love you Paul! You and John are my favorite lyricists and in my opinion the best ever! Listening to this on the 39th anniversary of the dreaded feb.4th.Thank You Karen for brightening my days. You were and are the best voice I have ever heard.Love You and Miss You so much!
I prefer this version to the arrangement that Richard put together on the original. The original includes a flute which does not work for this jazzy blues tune. The flute gives an entirely different setting for the song. Just sax and keys as the lead instruments is the right way to go. Karen & Richard could have done an entire album of these jazzy blues tunes. It would have been wonderful. Rest in Peace, Sweet Karen. Gone but never forgotten. :-(
Que lindo ! karen era muito especial sua voz faz vc vc viajar para outra dimensão, não apareceu outra mulher até hj com esse timbre de voz, acho que morreu com ela.
I 1st heard the gorgeous voice of Karen Carpenter, by sheer coincidence, back in the Fall of 1969. I walked into a small record store in Denver, just to kill time, & overhead, on the speakers, was this voice I had never heard, singing a hauntingly sad song, called " Someday " .-------That, was my intro., to Richard & Karen. I own everything that has been put out here in the USA, about them, by them, for them. -----so, I am a fan.------that stated, this re-mix of " Ordinary Fool ", while certainly well intended, fails to improve the original , bare-bones approach, Richard used , in this case, to perfection. ---------So, while I do enjoy this ----------the original by Richard, will still be my favorite. I always found it telling that Paul Williams wrote this.--------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
Pau Williams tune, rearranged by Richard Carpenter for his sister and backing instruments. Richard still survives today and can be found out in the valley area of LA performing jazz with his trio. Jazz was Richards love and instrumental in many pieces of music, Paul mentions Richard quote often on arranging and rearranging music.
One of her most beautiful...i am severely depressed these days, losing all my family....this woman is the only that helps a lil.
Nobody will ever replace her. Once in a lifetime. If that. Miss her and her brother!
Jazzy blues sung by Karen..this should have won her a Grammy.
How she could have such control over her voice at such low volume is amazing.
she was a contralto, that's probably why
@@EdithLover She had perfect control of her instrument at any volume. Just 100% natural and so rare. Her deepest notes are like pure velvet.
I have a deep voice and it is alot harder to go up without going off key.If I stay low I'm ok.Karen could do both! She was amazing!
It’s Karen’s singing style that could probably overburden identifying her voice type.
Might still like Ella’s version better..but Karen is sooo good!
Excellently done
the resonance of her voice in the lower notes is just sublime. such an amazing voice. simply, thank you
such a good voice to hear, esp before bed time.
Heavenly🙏❤️!
NICE!.......I loved her in the 70s and I still love her and I hope to see her on the other side!
Me too!!
Wonderful version. Only a fool can ignore this.

This mix is exceptional! Just how I always imagined how it would sound in a smoky bar. Great job!

Concordo contigo. Ela tá em outro plano iluminando em sua volta. E que versão é essa. Lindo demais!
Amazing song🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I totally disagree with you. I feel this arrangement is a vast improvement.

Sad but beautiful and wise lyrics. This recording is perfect in every detail, combined with Karen's photos, makes time stand still.❤
Great job on this mix! And I had forgotten it's from Bugsy Malone.
Thank you! - John
Kind of reminiscent of 1950s Julie London.
I have no doubt that they could have made a splash in the nascent Smooth Jazz format.
Julie's sultry lows were something else, too.
Nice work!!
Thanks! - John
Beautiful
Bugsy Malone! ❤
Kinda reminds me of Butterfly Dreams. Pullin' a jazz waltz out of a rubato hat.
Sure wish this could have found a way onto her solo album.....instead of the Peter Cetera stumble
🤘🏻 🌟 🤘
I think this must have been from her solo album.
This was recorded during the A Kind of Hush sessions.
