The best early DG video I've seen. Really fun to see the big Frisbees flying, the big hair and the short shorts. Surprisingly big and engaged gallery considering how new the sport was at that time (about 7 years old).
We always got pretty good attendance at the US Opens. Golf was typically the first event of the day. There was a much larger crowd by the time we got to the "stadium" portion of the schedule in the afternoon. Actually, the golf gallery that we had in 1982 at Rutgers was one of the largest I can ever recall seeing. Of course, we made a big public outreach effort and spent a good bit of money and effort. But, somehow it was also easier to get people out in those days. More difficult now.
They used Midnight Flyer discs produced by Ed Hedrick's Disc Golf Association. These were based on Wham-O Frisbees molds. They had "Glow" material added to increase the disc's weight and performance.
Thanks for the date correction, Dan. I changed the title to reflect the correct date info. Someplace I've also got tape I shot at the UCI North American Series in the late 70'S. I'll post that too if I can ever put my hands on it. Wayne Shurts

you still playing?
It's such a shame to see galleries smaller today than they were 30 years ago.
Fantastic footage though. Dunnipace was the man!
The 1st course I ever played was LM but that was 1984. Still play there twice a month. Great course and close to home
