  • I wanted to tie together a few concepts and drills that are key to an effective brace in your backhand. These things have helped me tremendously in my own form and in teaching others.

There are so many fancy disc golf videos online with a zillion views, and I've been combing through them all hoping that, out of maybe 5 videos, I could hear one new thing. Most of it is people saying the same useless crap over and over again. Then I stumble on to this video, with no fanfare, that completely changes the way I look at driving and using my hips. This whole video is a breath of fresh air and it is damn interesting! It's worth at least 40 of these other videos I've been watching. Well done!

Still come back to this video from time to time. Thanks for helping pioneer disc golf form in a time that not much info was available on it.

I tried nothing more than sliding my left foot behind my right on a RHBH drive, and the feeling of my hip moving forward was intense. In the field my drives were going straighter for longer and on the course I had to back off on holes I never had to back off before. And this was all in the first day of trying this. Super cool. Think Mr. Burns, "Excellent..."

Thanks for making this video. I've always had trouble engaging my hips. my drives typically max out around 350, and after following this video I've had the longest drives of my life. Hit a 450 today according to udisc

For me. I’m always using my arm. I think I have perfected my run up but I have a really hard time using my hips/legs into my drives. I don’t feel it anywhere but my arm when I throw. I’m getting about 250-285ish throws when I go full power.

Holy poop. This vid, along with Feet Together, and the Heavy Bottle (you gotta drink it) have helped me more than any others. This really helped me with the shift. I was leading everything with the disc, trying to keep it flat and one a straight line, but it was not engaging my hips and I was pulling everything right, because it was all arm. Of course, I still have tons of drilling to do on this stuff, but just concentrating on leading with the hips and pulling in the disc, I hit my personal best on our local course, and helped my partner crush our opponents at dubs this week. Thanks Heavy, and keep it up.

No sir. Not confising at all. A great build form simple weight shift, to hip rotation, to back hand placement. Thank you!

Hey man, these videos are great. I've been fallowing for a while, but I'm really starting to delve into your form fixing endeavors. Thanks for putting all this together. I learned about you from reddit when the feet together drill was posted. I reluctantly started stand still throwing, and the results have been awesome. Went from barely getting stand still putter shots over 200' to 265'-275' pretty quickly. I'm at the getting the better form incorporated into the x-step phase, and 'bracing' is a huge issue for me. These video's will be immensely helpful over the next few months.

Just watched several of your videos and had many aha! Moments watching them. Just caught another on the second time watching this one. My brace was bad and I saw it when you started the one leg drill. My plant foot would be more to the outside of my plant foot and I was falling over. I was compensating for it in my follow through by landing on my left foot to balance myself. Awesome video!

Great video-thanks. I’ve been putting way too much arm into it and it’s causing shoulder pain, yet weaker throws.

Another awesome video, thanks Heavy! 🐳 ! I've actually watched all of your videos at least 10 times and I have new insights everytime . I've been playing for a year and a half and "snap" that comes and goes but I think it's because I start pulling on the disc a little early, and also front rounding. My friend and I are stuck however , at the stage of having snap but it only goes a little further than our non-snap throws. Any thoughts on what to work on to increase distance when one is in the early stages of snap throwing? Thanks again for all the helpful videos! -jenna. PS if you're ever in Santa Cruz lets play a round!
