The Amazon boots are old stock. I have a pair of Captains from 4 -5 yrs ago. The tongue is stamped “Thursday | Everyday”. My thoughts back then were the heel stack was too high (at least for my taste) and put me in a forward leaning position which I felt immediately in my knees. Looks as if enough ppl had similar experience and Thursday’s listened.
Secondly, the fit recommendations are off. Thursday recommends 1/2 size down from sneaker size. I’m a 10D in sneakers, so I ordered 9.5D I’m also 9.5D in Allen Edmonds on 65 last. There was a ton of slippage and excess room. I wear 8.5D in both Red Wing and Clark’s. So if you are a D width, order the same size as any RW Iron Ranger, Beckmann, Moc Toe or Clark’s Desert Boots. If you like the higher heel stack order from Amazon if you prefer what I would call a regular heel stack height similar to Allen Edmonds boot, order directly from Thursday Boot Co.
Lastly the chance that any pair ordered is a prior return (someone else tried it on and sent it back) is much higher w/ Amazon than buying directly from the manufacturer. Both prices being the same that’s food for thought.
Final thoughts…. I would love an update video w/ Thursday’s answer as far as changes to the last. Also, if there is no issue w/ fit but you want a taller or shorter heel stack, a cobbler can easily add or subtract layers of the leather heel stack.

Thanks so much for the insight, I still have both pairs and I love and wear them both. I haven’t noticed said he stack differences but I’ve gotten used to the differences. I do however wear the burnt gingers more but that’s because I prefer the softer feel to the leather on the suede than the rougher feel on the adobes.

So sick of online boot ordering, since manufacturers are inconsistent with their sizing. Since many of us shop online these days they need uniformity in sizing or can lose sales.

I've got two pairs, one with StormKing sole so difficult to compare external features. I got different sizes as my first pair felt a touch too big. The half size smaller pair are snug but not broken in yet. I think the main issues with boots are a good fit, quality of materials and construction and consistency between L and R of the same pair. If I were you I wouldn't worry but well done for spotting these issues.

Thursday boots say to order 1/2 size smaller than what you wear in sneakers. Now, sneakers fit differently depending on brand, so what on earth does sneaker size mean? I am a normal size 11 when I get measured at a shoe store, but Thursday won't address whether I should order my normal size or 1/2 size smaller because they throw in the nonsense about sneaker size without defining what it means, with sneakers fitting differently depending on brand. After reading amazon reviews and watching videos, it seems like it is impossible to know what size to order. Thursday boots should tell you whether or not to order your normal size.....but they want it to be a mystery for some reason. Thank you Thursday boots, for wasting my time trying to find out what should be an easy answer.

I don't think these discrepancies are specific to Thursday boots. When I bought my Iron Rangers I had to try on three pairs at 11D. The first pair was mismatched, more like one 11D and one 11.5EE. The second pair was matched properly but more like a 12 in length. The third pair was perfect. Quality control just isn't what it used to be.

Thursday sizing seems to be all over the place. I wear 9.5W in every brand of boots (10 tennis shoes).. Tried a 9.5W Thursday Captain Arizona Adobe, too big. Tried 9W, broke it in, and it was too big. Got an 8.5W, my foot slides front to back in a new un-broken in boot. Just returned it for an 8W to see how that works, if not, it's getting returned and I'll stick with my Truman boots. FWIW, I have not worn a size 8 in 30 years or more (Jr. high school) LOL.. I also wanted to add that My Brannock measurement is 9.5EE

Both nice looking boots. I have the Captain’s in Arizona Adobe but I wanted darker so I got the President’s in tobacco. Both boots in 10 from Amazon. They both fit slightly different but close enough for me. I also have the Cadet’s (10) in tobacco and they feel like comfy slippers.
I know the online thing can have its pitfalls and I’d rather go to a traditional brick and mortar store but sadly we don’t really live in that world anymore. They use a different last to make the rugged and classic lines. I had a 9.5 matte black and the cap stitches bit my toes on the side. I got the same size classic brown and this doesn’t occur. They also use a different thickness and type of leather. This can also contribute to sizing issues.

I have had similar boots issues with my Thursday boot purchases. I now own 4 pairs of captains one pair is the rugged leather. It took buying 8 pairs to get proper fitting and proper designed boots. Some were too small and some were too wide.My rugged pair is still a little tight in the toe but I think they will break in with time. One pair had a much more bulbus toe cap. Thanks to their return policy I now have 4 good pair. I also purchased some through Amazon and the fit success was better with Amazon. I think that the boots being handmade is the cause of the varying issues or it's Quality Control issues. The boots I have I think are good value and will probably buy there again as long as their return policy stays as good as it is now.

Feet and fit are too complicated and varied to make general recommendations. Your best bet on first order is to do the following
    1. What size are you sneakers? Are they snug on the sides and top of your foot? Where does your toe touch?
    2. If your sneakers are loose all around, buy .5 size down and 1 size down. Keep what fits best.
    3. If your sneakers are snug, buy your sneaker size and .5 size down. Keep what fits best.
You could also buy 3 sizes around your sneaker size if you really absolutely want to nail the fit.

I didn't go through your nearly 100 comments (so far) to see if this was already stated, but I can say that the rugged and resilient captains have a leather midsole whereas the 'classic' series have a EVA comfort strip in place of the leather midsole which I believe is a dense higher quality foam. The originals also usually do not have the steel shank and just seem to overall be built to prioritize comfort and flexibility.
That's just my impressions and information I've gathered here and there, can't guarantee information accuracy. But it's pretty much a fact that many if not all of their R&R captains are built with differences to their "classic" series and it's not just the type of leather.

I can confirm that the writing style on the tongue of the new boots is the same as the 3 pairs I got directly from Thursday (all 3 sent back). After 3 tries ordering their captains, it's become very obvious that the company is having serious quality control issues with their new batches of boots. First pair felt much bigger than the size listed, the thread was fraying badly, and she speed hooks were razor sharp cutting/digging into the tongue. 2nd pair felt like 2 different size shoes when I put them on. 3rd pair was scuffed all over, the soles were terribly shaped, you could visibly see the soles were two different shapes. I would avoid Thursday boots unless you can get your hands on an older pair.

I just got my first pair Thursday boots at the beginning of the month. February 2022. They told me they tell everyone to buy a half size smaller. I got my burnt gingers and not only were they too small but they were too narrow. I have never once had to order a wide boot in my life. So I do not know if I should order a wide and a whole size up or what to think now. Reading comments leads me to believe they are having quality control issues and I might order one size and I might get something that’s like a size 12 instead of an 8 1/2. Also looking back online I see that the burnt gingers do not come in wide. Is any other person ordered these boots a half size small like they suggested and it is just too small for you? Am I the only one? I also found out that between half sizes is only 4 mm. Also in between regular standard size and wide is 12 mm. Hope that helps you out fellas. Cheers.
    Edit:
Also I ordered mine directly from Thursday boot company on their website. On the tongue it says size 7. Five under that it says Thursday every day. On the side of the boot it has the batch number below that says made in small batches. And again I just ordered these and got them on 3 March. This doesn’t match either one of your boots in this video. So where are mine from? Anyway now? I’m really beginning to wonder if they have any control over anything that is being made where it’s being made. Because in the video one is from Amazon one is from Thursday boots directly. And my only pair is from Thursday boot website directly and none of them have the same printing at all. The only thing that is the same about them is that they are printed at all.

All of the Captains are made in Mexico. Very nice boots actually.

Because they changed the boot last to a more rounded last and not the narrow one anymore!

The real ones came from Thursday. The fake ones came from Amazon.

Expect changes with Thursday. They are a newer company and change things on the fly. If the ginger is too large, just return it.

Just the opposite, I love them both and although they fit different they still fit and I actually prefer the softer suede leather on the gingers. Thanks for watching. I really should do a follow up shouldn’t i

they're made in different factories that's what i can tell

If they use the same size last (mold), it does not matter what factory made them. I was about to buy the tobacco presidents until i read this.

Save up some money. If you're able, go to a Redwing store and try on some Iron Rangers.

Don't try them on to see if they fit...they will not exchange them after that.

I wonder why I got this recommendation, I hate those boots. I'm a Nick's/White's/Truman boots guy and I really think Redwing heritage boots are many notches above these crappy ,over marketed boots. I wouldn't accept one as a gift 😂😂😂 lmfao.

@@vhockada You're content is great man, don't get me wrong. It's just that I'm totally not the kind of chap who'd but a pair of Thursday boots. You should get a pair of Nick's and review them. Thanks and cheers

Interesting issue you are having. I have 2 pair of Captain boots. Both fit very well. Unlike your issues. I would not purchase them from Amazon. Buy directly from the source. Hopefully, you are able to get this resolved.
