Dr. Victor Davis Hanson is a national treasure. Never before has someone taken to the world stage at this rate and enlightenment from the past while examining the present. God bless you!
I've probably watched more videos and listened to more podcasts of Victor Davis Hanson than of any other person on the internet. I truly admire and enjoy his teaching style and his vast knowledge of history and of current culture. I smiled when he mentioned repairing the outbuildings on his farm. Like Dr. Hanson, I grew up working on farms. My family was from Oklahoma and were part of the Okie diaspora that he has mentioned in some of his interviews. We worked mostly in Arizona vegetable and cotton fields and for about a year we worked in California near Bakersfield. My Dad was a great mechanic and worked on farm equipment in the off season to feed the family. I hope that Dr. Hanson continues to educate and inspire his viewers and listeners for many years to come. I've been truly blessed for having read his books, taken his classes on the Second World Wars and on The Dying Citizen from Hillsdale's online school. I highly recommend them all.
I had never heard of Hillsdale College, but I will never forget the wisdom I gained in this one short video. Thank you, gentleman sharing your stories and providing guidance without spelling anything out.
I couldn't agree more. I've taken several of Hillsdale's online classes on government and of course Dr. Hansons's offerings. I grew up in a migrant farm worker family and I am now a retired high school and college teacher. I'm living proof that in this great country you can achieve your dreams if you're willing to work hard and never quit.
VDH is the greatest spokesperson of our generation. We are BLESSED to have him. He's a realist balanced with his incredible knowledge of history. He's a wonderful man with a brilliant mind. He also has the courage of a lion; unafraid to speak truth.
Wow, I had lunch once with the Australian historian, Geoffrey Blainey that Victor mentioned. Having worked in publishing for nearly 40 years, I've met many authors but Blainey was a stand-out. Instead of speaking a single word about himself, or his work, he spent the entire two hours enticing our family histories from our names and a few questions about where we were born. He is still living, (93) and I remember him from that one meeting as a prince of men.
Blainey is Australia’s greatest historian, accorded the kind of respect in Oz (by non-Marxists) as Hanson and Sowell receive in America - although regrettably he does not engage as frequently as they do in political debate.
Thank you, Dr. Arnn. I enjoy every opportunity I can find to listen to VDH. Every time he speaks, I learn something new that makes me ponder the world in a slightly different perspective. (Much like every time I listen to Dr. Sowell.) Thank you for providing these opportunities for those of us who are not Hillsdale student but enjoy learning all the same.
If there was ever a required learning/listening, it is a conservation between Dr. Hanson and Dr. Arnn. They are such treasures in our national discourse, especially, for these tumultuous times. Thank you, Dr. Hanson and Dr. Arnn!
Follow the money is an important part of the message. Growing up a little before Victor allowed for all my Scout leaders to be WWII veterans. We are both so, so lucky to have these men and women as mentors. Will we ever remove war from our sickie?
I share your blessing of having all my BSA leaders as WW2 & Korean War vets…. … those men emanated a caring if often stern leadership that I encountered more & more rarely as I matured… … & it was something I tried to emulate in my career, with my most people under my charge appreciating it.
I know nothing of farming but always appreciate the life lessons VDH teaches us about farming. When he talks about the unpredictability of farming and the things out of the farmer’s control that teaches a kind of humility, I thought of little house on the prairie. One scene in particular is of father Ingalls getting ready to harvest and sell his seasons work at the market, only to have his crops destroyed in a bad rain storm. He walks inside to tell his family. Michael Landon captures that humility perfectly on his face in that scene. Though devastated, he hugs his family and still thanks God for his blessings and gets back to work. He wasn’t looking for anyone to blame (and certainly not looking for a government handout). They were grounded in reality much more than we are today.
My God I would give everything to have this man be my teacher. He is just commanding and so full of knowledge. Those of you that have had the pleasure to learn from him should thank your blessing’s.
As a farmers daughter, don't waste the water , the cows have to drink. If the cows didn't drink enough, no milk check. Raised on a farm , it changes you forever. No waste, of anything.
I wasn't raised on a farm Cynthia, but I SO heartily agree with you. My Dad lived in a small town & they were thrifty & always grew a garden. My Dad became a physician & I'm so thankful that he taught me (both via the genes he passed on to me + his direct modeling) critical thinking & how to conserve. I've always lived in a city, but I've always been careful NOT to waste water, food, any kind of fuel, clothing, etc. Old towels are turned into rags, extra pears from our tree are given to a shelter or a food pantry, all kinds of items are constantly examined as to whether they can be used for something else or turned INTO something else & items are given to family, friends, neighbors or a chartity ... because there's likely someone who can use & benefit from them.

I really enjoyed this conversation. Thank you Dr Arnn for having this on you tube also. What a fine gentle soul Victor Davis Hanson is, an intelligent and refine man he is. I’m enjoying Hillsdale college and what it stands for. Thank you for all you do Professor Arnn.
I live in a small town in rural Queensland (Australia) and I've heard of many cases of people losing wallets, purses and jewellery etc and having them returned. Keep believing that there are still good people in the world.
The farmer is the most underrated gambler of all time, because they live on gambling that their crop will get enough rain, enough sun, and enough good weather to pull in a considerable yield of the crops they harvest. Sounds simple, but the science behind it, coupled with all the unpredictable factors, is truly an amazing profession. Two of my friends are farmers, and just their calculations of the fertilizers the types and taking measurements of rhe health of the soil. It's crazy how in depth it is.
I have learned so much from Mr.Hansen, I truly admire his integrity. I wish more people would tune in to him.keep up the awesome job you have been doing over the years. God bless you, sir.
Thank you gentlemen from Canada 🇨🇦 always a pleasure to listen, learn and appreciate the encouragement to actively participate to change our trajectory - all our efforts are needed
Great interview thanks. I couldn’t help think of the territorial imperative when VDH spoke of the importance of deterrents to avoid conflict. Think of two male bears facing off and posturing to settle matters without violence
I want to learn after listening to these men. I’m nearly 50, but it’s good to be inspired to curiosity by listening to people with knowledge that I don’t possess.
I have stopped shopping at certain stores, I refuse to by certain products, I no longer watch sports or get involved with clubs, I neither trust or watch the main stream media and I haven't voted for a major party for at least 4 decades because of the rot I've seen creeping into our society. By the way, I'm Australian. Thank you gentlemen, I truly enjoyed your insights.

Those who ignore history are damned to repeat it. Like all the fallen Empires of the past. God bless VDH, Dr Arnn, and Hillsdale College.
Thank you VDH from a 74 yr man in Santa Cruz
Beautiful talk. Much appreciation to both of you gentlemen!
Victor is one of our Great Americans for speaking out with such resounding wisdom and foresight
Two incredible Americans and Human Beings!
Thank you Gentlemen. Great interview! 🇺🇸🍀🇺🇸
You are right about "shame." But people without an understanding of honor cannot experience shame.
VDH IS THE MAN
I live in a small town in rural Queensland (Australia) and I've heard of many cases of people losing wallets, purses and jewellery etc and having them returned.
Even watching a field bushhogged is in itself an experience
Eh, while farmwork is varied and can be difficult;. Many today are overrated.
I have learned so much from Mr.Hansen, I truly admire his integrity. I wish more people would tune in to him.keep up the awesome job you have been doing over the years. God bless you, sir.
Mr.Hanson has stepped up his game since joining the Hillsdale College ‘True’ Educators team. Cheers Larry and the Hillsdale College Team.
Thank you gentlemen from Canada 🇨🇦 always a pleasure to listen, learn and appreciate the encouragement to actively participate to change our trajectory - all our efforts are needed
Inspiring and informative thanks so much
I so admire and respect Victor David Hanson. I remember him saying people are not responsible for the consequences of their ideology. So true.
VDH "I came home to take care of my grand mother". That says it all.
Great interview thanks. I couldn’t help think of the territorial imperative when VDH spoke of the importance of deterrents to avoid conflict. Think of two male bears facing off and posturing to settle matters without violence
David is a Renaissance man... keep up the good job!
Growing up in the central valley I admire this man. He's an asset to 13:38 not only the valley but all over our country.
Thank you, gentlemen! 👍👍
I Have Great Respect for Both of You Gentlemen!!!
👍👍🙏✨✨✨🙌🔥❤️
Thank you for sharing these videos. They are very enjoyable!
I want to learn after listening to these men. I’m nearly 50, but it’s good to be inspired to curiosity by listening to people with knowledge that I don’t possess.
Great conversation. Thanks.
Good talk.
This man is a national treasure.
God bless you, VDH.
With God's Grace we can create new abilities through applying ourselves to new learnings, new areas previously untamed in your life. Glory to God
Thanks.
Thankyou for your wisdom❤️

Life lessons from a great thinker.
A belated happy birthday to you, sir
VDH…an American Treasure living now
Listening to an intelectual like him self brings many great benefits to my thoughts and mind. It helps shape and mold my mind in a way I can only appreciate in longevity
Always a pleasure to listen to Dr. Hanson.
This is how I'm trying to live.
Once again you are so filled with knowledge, Mr. Hanson. Thank you for Sharing.
Two of our best minds. Splendid.
I don't often find such insight and emotional honesty on the internet. Thank you.
