Well done. I finally completed restoration on the exact same cars. Mine were originally terra cotta and cream. I kept the same color scheme. I think they are some of the nicest O gauge passenger cars Lionel ever made. They were certainly high end as they were offered with the 226E as well as the prewar semi scale Hudson. Very good technique. Thanks for posting.

If you anneal the tabs by heating with a torch, after you disassemble,it lessens the possibility of tab breakage during reassmbly.

@@mt.trainrestorations5931 'anneal': To heat (metal or glass) and allow it to cool slowly, in order to remove internal stresses and toughen it. Thought it might help other neophytes like myself.
