  • Buying a used pontoon boat is a great way to get out on the water. They hold their value extremely well, so you likely won't find any "cheap" unless you stumble upon someone selling one that doesn't know what they have. The things you want to consider in a used pontoon are the same as you do for a new pontoon. However, you will have less bots to chose from and the added complexity of worn our or damaged parts. In this video we will cover:
    0:00 Intro
1:29 Used pontoon from a dealer or privately?
    2:29 Pontoon size (diameter)
    3:03 Do I need a tritoon?
    3:31 Are all tritoons equal?
4:04 What about sterndrive powered pontoons?
4:40 Engine size on a used pontoon
5:19 Are there many different layouts?
5:50 What other things should I look for?
    6:30 Do I need a lake test?

My wife and I are looking to get our first boat. Just for cruising around the intracoastal waterway of southeastern NC, and for fishing. A pontoon or tritoon would probably be the best fit

As always thank you for the excellent information found in your video. May i suggest a video on how to perfectly trim and outboard motor. Should we consider getting something like Mercury active trim ? Cheers,

Here in South Florida, only electric battery-powered pontoon boats are allowed. It's just me and my wife, at times our son, his wife, and 3 children visit us 2 or 3 times a year. I'm thinking 14', 16' at most. Any brand-name pontoon boats you can recommend to me?

Saving for my first boat and I think a pontoon would be fun. Seen some online for like 5-10k.

They are fun and a great first boat. The market is prime right now for a few decent deals :)

I looked at a new one here in Canada (Sask.) and laughed out loud when he told me $149,000! 🤣😂 That's almost double what I paid for my first house in 1999. Used are anywhere between $20 - 80,000 from private owners. So, I can buy about 6 or 7 used ones for the price of a new one...no brainer. Dealers are out to lunch, especially with the high interest rates now. Boats are becoming like new cars...only for the rich, or colossally stupid who can't afford it.

Wen u say a 20-22’ boat are u referring to the boss deck inside the fence or the length of the actual pontoon? Best I can tell by internet research it’s the length of the pontoon.

Any woman will tell you that pontoon size isn't important, but I guarantee you she's lying.
