Normally I see all creators now pretty much make the same corset design over and over so this is a refreshing change. this is gorgeous and all the handmade embroidery is so unique and well made.
Magnificent! Hope you enjoy wearing it. I'd enjoy hearing about where/how you learned to drape a garment; perhaps a topic for an upcoming video? Please??? Thanks!
ahh excellent suggestion! I'm going to film a longer form video on the whole process of this dress together, so I will talk about it there for sure - might do some others as well! Thanks for the idea!
I’m so upset when I see your work because I don’t have time to learn _another_ incredible textile art, but also……this style of bead work would be so so worth it
Seeing stuff like this makes me so excited at the thought of making my own clothes. I want to make myself a Victorian style capsule wardrobe. But I also want to lose weight before I do so, as I have not been a healthy weight since I was a child I have no idea what my proportions would be when I finally do lose weight. Otherwise I would want to start working on it right now.
STUNNING! Could you please make a video on how to make an appliqué aka how do you cut the fabric off after you did the embroidery on it thanks hugs from Provence ❤Adrien
I'm looking into making a design with a cape similar to what you have here... How do you keep the cape on your shoulders? Is there a nude sheer connection across the front? Or is it attached somewhere? Any advice or pattern sources you recommend I would appreciate it!
Two things - I have a piece of fishing line connecting them at the back of my neck, which keeps them from sliding forward, and then there's a loop of clear elastic attached to the underside of each epaulette, which I slide my arm through and then hook onto the dress at the top of the boning channel that's right underneath my armpit. You can see the clear elastic in some of the closeup photos but other than that it's invisible! When worn, I did also stick a piece of garment tape to the top of my shoulder to help it stay but honestly with all the dancing and sweating I don't think it even stayed stuck, hah! I am planning a long form video tour of the dress + making process but every time I try to film it I get sad that it's all finished so.. coming soon I hope 😅
TH-cam decided it was time that we met. Haha. And it was right. I'm happily looking at your accomplishments! Do you mind telling me where you got the sewing doll/mannequin? I never saw them with arms before.
It's silk, yep - I dyed it in a wide, shallow tub (like the kind you might use to store stuff under your bed) with just enough water to let it float. Added the dye in sections and only agitated a little bit to get the colour mixing and depth variety :) - I'll do a video on it the next time I do it!
Sneak clear straps! I have a strap that goes down from the shoulder pad to a connection point at the top of the side boning channel on the bodice. I slide them on my arms and then hook that loop of elastic in place.
The thing about working for other people is you don’t get to pursue your own creative vision. I have a handful of friends who do actually do this sort of thing for movies and tv and every one of them ended up stopping sewing as a hobby… as much as I’d love to see my work on screen, I don’t want that to happen to me!
@@katmakes Perhaps your sense of observation is what also keeps your work magical. Knowing what NOT to do is just as important as knowing what is good for you. Everything you do is lovely and better yet, you seem so happy, and that is priceless.
The beads draping are EVERYTHING and the bodice as a whole is just- gorgeous

It is from Royal Dress Forms!
If Hercules megara had a ball gown!
What type of fabric is this? Hand died silk? How do you get that beautiful pattern?

How are the shoulder pads connected to the rest of the dress? Or how will they hold themselveson the body?
Sneak clear straps! I have a strap that goes down from the shoulder pad to a connection point at the top of the side boning channel on the bodice. I slide them on my arms and then hook that loop of elastic in place.
😍😍
that looks like something Aphrodite would wear
😲😍
