Overall a decent Ryu run on the hardest difficulty. It could be improved by at least 20-30 seconds, but I didn't want to spend more time on it, the AI/CPU on this game can be very annoying. I just wanted to get a sub 12 time...

A: Because this is the original Japanese version and those are the original names the game was designed with. Detailed explanation available on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison - check the paragraph "Conception and development".
A: Because the cutscene between fights happens faster on the Japanese version and the speedruns can be 15-20 seconds faster than the US version.

I'm just impressed at how you have the AI dead to rights. Playing this "normally", the game is tough as nails.
Thank you. There is a lot of time and effort put into these speedruns. There are literally thousands of failed attempts before some successful attempts get completed. By doing that, you will eventually learn everything the AI wants to do and you'll be prepared to deal with it, that's why it might seem "easy" at times, but it's actually a pretty big grind to get there.

Oh god bro I forgot this was a speedrun and actually got mad when the tas/perfect run would not hit barrels just to be annoying lol
lol, sorry ;) on speedruns you actually don't want to break the falling barrels, because they give you points and points take up time to get counted, so I would actually end up losing time if I break them.

Yea, they're both assholes on hardest, gotta show off that asshole mode. DeeJay is more accessible, in practice I would usually beat him pretty fast, but not when it mattered the most...unlucky xd

@@xhappymasksalesmenx4092 There is a speedrun category for Akuma, but it's on Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, the next Street Fighter game after this one. This is just Super Street Fighter 2 The New Challengers. I think I will be speedrunning Super Turbo as well. I'm currently doing Ken speedruns on this game, then I will do Hyper Fighting (Ken/Ryu) and then most likely Super Turbo (Akuma/Ken/Ryu).

Yea, they're pretty stubborn on hardest and Ryu doesn't have that many tools to deal with them fast. Sometimes you can destroy them both rounds, but most of the times they just have to show the "prick" mode as well ;)

Why do you use Ryu and not Ken? Don't Ken's dragon punch combos do more damage?

Well done! for me, Dee Jay can be a pain to overcome, when playing SFII: The New Challengers....it depends on with who i'm playing, i guess.
Dee Jay is very annoying for sure and T.Hawk too, these two are most annoying I'd say, but all the New Challengers are more annoying than the old cast. It does depend who you're playing, indeed. Ken doesn't struggle too much and Ryu neither, but when it comes to speedrunning, Dee Jay and T.Hawk ruin pretty much most of the run attempts.

Just amazing! I tried to get perfects on every round when I was a kid, to see if there was a different ending🙄 used to always fail on shadowloo Monsters! You ever done a perfect run?
On this game, no, I did all-perfect on Champion Edition with Ken when I was a kid. I have seen all-perfect on this game with Ken, but I think it might be on easy mode, I don't know for sure, the difficulty is not shown and there are some moments where the CPU behaves too good, maybe it's just luck - th-cam.com/video/JHBa2y_v9JQ/w-d-xo.html

@@LightgunLegends Aw man, unlucky, I know how that feels xd That's kind of what we did around here as well in the last 2-3 years of the arcade era when the 1v1 scene was on life support. The last few of us - and by few I mean 3-4 guys - we would play just for high score and do only all-perfect runs, but it was on Champion Edition. We didn't have Hyper Fighting or Super Turbo at my arcade, unfortunately.

Yeah it was ental you get hit once you take the CPU to a slither of like then let him win the round, all the time your waiting for your next round.Same four guys everytime😁

Which combo are you referring to? The 3-hit dizzy combo or the 4-hit dizzy combo? I should have done the 4-hit combo after dizzy in some situations, for sure, I'll probably do that next time, if I do the run again.

Yes, I think I will run Super Turbo as well. The plan is to do Ken speedruns on this game, then Hyper Fighting and then most likely Super Turbo.
@@deviouxFGC Ken's my main but I struggle against the CPU on Super Turbo/Grand Master Challenge, especially Akuma. Look forward to it!
What are the buttons of those main combos you use?
Jump HK or HP > crouching MP > crouching MK > HP Hadouken
Jump HK or HP > MP (or sometimes HP) > LP or HP Shoryuken

Are some characters improbable to do a speedrun? Zangief and Honda were always slow by eye test, never liked playing them, lol
All the characters can be used to "speedrun", I just don't have the patience to do it :) I prefer to run my best characters and try to put in very optimized times. I do like Zangief tho, so I might actually do him at some point, but Honda probably not :)
@@deviouxFGC Yeah, but I believe Ryu & Ken speedrun times would be better than Zangief and Honda? ;-) Been over 20 years since I played SFII and Guil, Ryu & Ken were usually the characters I played the most.
@@markkowal7849 Yes, Ryu & Ken speedrun times would definitely be better than Zangief and Honda, but Zangief could come pretty close, within a minute or so of Ken I'd say. Guile is also nice, I like him too, but the speedrun would probably be around 2 minutes slower than Ken.
Can you do a run with US version of super turbo with Ryu. The AI on that is so hard.
I think I will do some runs on Super Turbo, but I'm not sure if on the US version. I've heard the AI is very hard on that version and almost all the runs on speedrun.com are done on the Japanese version. Guess I'll see when the time comes. I'll probably do some Hyper Fighting first, after I finish the Ken speedruns on this game.

Why is there no Akuma at the end of the game. All conditions for him to appear are met.
This is Super Street Fighter 2 (The New Challengers). Akuma was first introduced in Super Street FIghter 2 Turbo, so that's a different game, it's the version which came after this one.

this game was too slow, turbo is better but the new characters were good
Don't think this is hardest difficulty.. i played this game more than 10 years and i know for sure that the hardest difficulty cpu is not that passive..
It is on hardest difficulty. I've shown the difficulty screen both at the beginning and at the end of the video and this speedrun has been verified and approved. Maybe you're confusing it with Super Turbo. And the CPU is not passive at all, maybe just on the first fight, which is always like that, but other than that it's quite aggressive.
Your video it's edited, the AI never have thouse reaction in the top hard, and I know because in very hard the blows of the artificial intelligence take more energy than what they took from you, your game is on normal or easy!
You're wrong, you don't know what you're talking about. This speedrun has been verified and approved by knowledgeable admins. You can clearly see I'm doing less damage than on my run on normal difficulty. Compare the fight versus Sagat on my normal difficulty run and this run. You can clearly see how I'm doing less damage to Sagat by at least 10-15%. It's also very clear the CPU does more damage than on my run on normal difficulty. You're trying to sound like you know things, but you don't. Keep hating.
It's more like easy mode, the CPU blocks all those attacks.
