I’m always amazed at how quickly people dismiss the Gen I SBC, as old. It is in fact the most winning engine of all time. It doesn’t have hardly any engineering hiccups that other engines have. Sure the 23* heads are outdated, but aftermarket 15-18* heads change everything, this is one test the “car mags” are afraid to test.
I built a fully forged 383 turbo charged. efi heads cam intake 4150 tb . 6500$ Every nut bolt compete engine was new. You cant spend so little and make RELIABLE hp like that with most engines.
Old school. I have 468 GM Block BBC twin gt45 turbos hydraulic roller cam , flotek heads and it makes 1200 all day long street driven s10 truck. All depends on how you build one. Sbc making big power is easy if you know what your doing
Yes it's completely stock. Has 756000 miles on it. Came out of a camaro that was sitting in a junk yard and pulled these nice numbers! Gen 1 small blocks are amazing!!
Twin water to air intercoolers? 🤔 Is that the reason he needs the Y for an intake charge pipe? Normally you see a fat drainpipe sticking out of the top. 🤷
@@STREETMACHINETV Sorry Scotty, thought it was a typo with coolers. 😂🤣 Wow, that's going to look interesting when packaged and laid out under the hood. Make sure to get a full feature when finished! 🤤🤤🤤
Interesting to watch the throttle stop screw recalibratiing itself 😂

But LS engines are trendy with the hipsters...
@@thereluctantgearhead4544 screw ur ls lol!
@@pops3554 in not a LS fanboy, good ole bigblock Chevy is still better. LS are for people that can't build engines.
@@thereluctantgearhead4544 true
That's brilliant. "not leaning on it" 24psi and 1200hp... crumbs! So good.
Its allright lol
Not a gift
Sorry wrong comment
very cool ...love the symmetrical turbos .
Haha. I believe Nelson racing engines owns the symmetrical turbo design patent. He has a video on it called mirror image turbo setup.
NRE type setup. Always wicked
Tuff as glad to see something then a ls...

You are correct my 400cid gen 1 sbc. Makes 1380 at the tires in my 82 s10 dart block afr 220 heads and a pair of 78mm turbos at 25lbs of boost
Dang my sbc 350 only makes 400 what turbo yall use
Would it be possible to do this with a 350 olds diesel
Didn't see or hear the type of fuel. Was that pump gas or race fuel?
Dynojet screen shows 18 degree headed SBC. Gen 1 SBC are 23*.
Still impressive. Props!!
You realize there are tons of 18* heads available for sbcs, right?
Turbo72Chevelle sbc can have 23, 18, 16, 15, 13 degree heads to name a few!!! Stock is 23.
@@robmotown1 some people just don't know huh? Lol
so is twin Turbo to make car louder and dyno is to make it faster right?>
What are the cam specs?
Twin turbos will overpower a stock blocked factory sbc. 650 is about the limit.

Insane
Stock Chevy or what’s done to the engine ???

Why you Australians get new el Caminos
Very nice...
Do you have that set up for sale? twin turbo kit for a Chevy 5.7 vortec?
The 5.7 isnt a Vortec. Vortec series started in 99.
@@selenacrux8829 Nope the vortec started in 96 .

That is way cool
I'd like to know the basics like:
Dart block? Inconel exhaust valves? What injection and controller?
Sweet ill chuck it in a 120y 😉
a 400 sbc blasting out 1200 ponies. crazy
It's easy to get these power levels now a days, thanks to heavy boost.
Did anyone else see the torque curve?
Dave Cozzi I didn't but went back and had a look...... Flat at 1050 ft/lb. ....perfect for pulling 30 tonne!!!!👍😂
@@robmotown1 Yep. That will get anything moving. Probably a great motor for street driving, if you had a saving account for rear tires.
If only propane power?
Is this a stock block ?
no, it's a Dart Little M from memory
Don't try this unless you have a good aftermarket block.
Chev in an f-truck?
Oath
wow that torque curve is just as flat as a table

It's going to have air to air coolers. They used water to air on the dyno for repeatability
@@STREETMACHINETV Still using that Y pipe though? Interesting if so. 👍
