    Hope you read this because I’ve been looking for a video about this idea. I’m a future breeder haven’t started gathering Boas to breed yet because I want to know as much as I can about it. So I think a gene guide video talking about what certain genes do to snakes and what certain combinations produce would be absolutely amazing

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll see what I can do. There are tons of morphs out there so it would be hard for anyone to cover, but I can atleast talk about what I have here.

    Thanks for the vid. One question, when you're doing the 5-7 day soak do you use a heat source like heat tape on a portion of the tub/bin or is the ambient temperature set at the ideal temp? Again, that Carmel is beautiful and hope she kicks RI soon

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! My whole room is heated to around 80 degrees so I dont use a heat source, but others may need to use a heat pad or similar to keep the temp up. As you pointed out you obviously dont want the snake sitting in cold water for a week.

    I agree that a 3-6 month quarantine period is asking a lot. I would add that it is also a good idea to take a fecal sample and send it to your vet right before you make the switch to gen pop for a last bit of peace of mind. It is expensive but worth the extra insurance.

    I use a UTH under a piece of glass that is hooked up to my thermostat for my soaking quarantine phase. I use a temp gun to make sure the water is at 85° and also put something in the water for the snake to grip on with their tail. I have found it calms them more during the soak time. • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on exactly what they are doing. Snake will open their mouth for a bunch of reasons. Shes doing it in this video to clear her throat in a sense which is pretty distinct. They will open their mouth and let out a small hiss like sounds but it's very different than a hiss if that makes sense

    Hey Jason! Great tips and info as always! I have a great idea for a video and you’re the perfect guy! How about discussing “reptile community politics (not national politics, lol, that will always be a hot mess). “. What I mean is there are a lot of people who group together to ostracize this or that person. Some of it seems petty but once a person has been given the “bad mark” the rest pile on - much of it against very well known breeders. How does one stay neutral? It’s almost like you can’t say you bought a snake from breeder X because no one likes him and thinks your animals will be crap. Some stuff is warranted but most I find ridiculous. Would be interested in your thoughts.
