Hey everyone! This movie was the funniest thing I have seen in so long! The slapstick, the deadpan humour, the craziness of it all... I loved every second! Let me know if it is worth it to watch the next two as well because I have no idea how good or popular they are.
Thanks for watching! Have a great day! :)

You MUST watch Airplane! and Top Secret by the same directors (the Zucker brothers). Same gag-a-minute style, all of them hilarious.

The sequels are amazing! Keep an eye out for a Weird Al appearance in each. I didn't even realize he was in the second one til last year or so and I've seen it tons of times. I think the sequels are just as good or better.
Norberg is my favorite character in this series. You seemed to laugh at my most favorite jokes. Some of the other reactors have had little reaction to or may have missed entirely because they were talking to us. Of course some people might find something humorous and don't actually give an audible laugh. Think most miss the joke about "My father went the same way" or when the man has a picture of Ed's wife, that Frank was actually pulling those from Ed's pockets.
And you might have missed it, I dunno, but the actual credits usually have jokes in them. With funny jobs or a name in the cast, a cookie recipe, or some other ridiculousness. I believe the sequels also have these. Other movies like either "Hot Shots" may also have these kinda of jokes in the credits. I recommend that franchise as well, starring Charlie Sheen
This franchise was based on a tv show that came out after Airplane! Was made. Made by ZAZ just like the movies. It was called "Police Squad" and there was only 6 episodes, I think only 30 mins each. If you wanted, you could prolly react to them and put it together in 2 reactions, each covering 3 episodes. Leslie plays Frank of course, Ed is played by someone different, but the science lab guy and the tall officer are the same actors. I don't remember if there is a Norberg in the show. There are just a handful of jokes from the show that pop up in the movies, so maybe watch all the movies first. I bought the series on dvd years ago and dunno if they are available anywhere streaming, to rent, or purchase, but I know this last year, You Me and the Movies reacted to the tv show.
For other Leslie Neilson movies I recommend "Wrongfully Accused" which parodies mostly The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford, as well as other movies.
He did Spy Hard as well, with a theme song by Weird Al, that has a theme song intro just like the Bond films. Basically a Bond parody and I'm sure other action films. I'm positive one of these two movies has a Mission Impossible 1 parody scene in it.

Naked Gun 2 1/2 and 33 1/13 are AS GOOD as the first one, no better or worse, so if you want more of the same, they definitely deliver. Both have more classic unique gags, and all 3 have a Weird Al cameo.
These spun out of the 1982 show Police Squad! Which was canceled after only 6 episodes.

You know what i love about you, Ollie? When you watch a comedy, you actually laugh at the jokes. You make commentary on the moviemaking process and such, too. But you laugh a lot. Many reactors watch comedies, and feel the need to constantly explain all the jokes, or ask, "Why would they do that?" And i'm like...cuz its a joke, that's why they did that! Anyway, you don't really do those things, and it makes watching your joy so much better. Let's go!

Leslie Nielsen's obliviousness to the comedy around him is the key to Naked Gun's success, and makes the rare moments when he does respond even funnier. And abusing OJ is always funny 😅

Amazingly funny movie! I quote the 'You killed five actors! Good ones!" line at least once a month.
You seemed to partially recognize Mark Holton, the actor behind "It's Enrico Palazzo!" (identified in the credits by his one line, which is hilarious). He's probably best known for playing Francis, the antagonist of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, but he also had a cameo at the end of A League of Their Own.

All three Naked Gun movies were made while the nation still liked OJ Simpson. Kind of ironic now that he gets beat up in all three movies. Hall-of-Famer Reggie Jackson is the ballplayer assassin. Check out Police Squad!, a sadly short-lived TV series from 1982. This was where Frank Drebin was introduced and why the full title of this movie is The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!. The show only lasted 6 episodes.

"Drebin, I don't want anymore trouble like you had last year on the South Side. Understand? That's my policy."
"Yes. Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's MY policy."
"That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of JULIUS CAESAR, you moron! You killed 5 actors! Good ones."
Fun Fact: This is one of three 1988 comedies that features a scene in which a villain is run over by a steamroller. The others are A Fish Called Wanda (1988) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
Ed Recasting Fact: According to David Zucker in the DVD commentary, the studio insisted on the casting of an Oscar winner in one of the major roles. This led to the casting of George Kennedy, who had been actively campaigning for the role of Ed Hocken for several months, saying that he was furious at having missed his chance to spoof himself in Airplane! (1980).
Name Change Fact: This movie is a big-screen continuation of the cult cop spoof series Police Squad! (1982). The title was changed to avoid confusion with the Police Academy film franchise, which were also co-created by Pat Proft. David Zucker remembers that they were given a list of about twenty potential titles, and they chose "The Naked Gun" because it promised so much more than it could possibly deliver.

The subtitle is because of the failed TV series, Police Squad. This came out after Airplane; but didn't a time when people didn't want to have to think about the humor. Mindless shows like 3's Company; was the norm. So something like this was not what viewers wanted. So they decided to make a movie or if it, and it was a huge hit. 2 sequels later; she's the power Leslie Nelson had

I’m guessing from your reaction to “the credits” from the song you never got to see MTV play music videos. This was their style to credit each song. You may also not know that record players traditionally had two speeds. Singles played at 45 RPM and albums played at 33 1/3rd. That’s the joke on the third movie title. Really old records might have 16 or 78 RPM but unless you have an old record player or a high end one you are unlikely to see these speeds. I loved Frank arriving at LAX on a TWA L-1011. My dad worked for them so I always like seeing them in films. When I was in high school some movie being shot in St. Louis needed an old plane they could wreck. I only know it went through my dad’s office. I never knew for years what film that was for. He thought it was an Airport series movie that George Kennedy starred in. Later in college I figured out it was Escape From New York. Largely filmed in East St. Louis.

When it comes to really good comedies, storyboarding is important for the overall idea; however, A list actors will ad lib, unless told not too. In fact, I believe several scenes from movies are often thanks to the improvisational skills of the actors. While a college short film may tell you to stick to the script, multi million dollar movies aren't scripted verbatim, especially if it stars big time comedians like Seth Rogen, Leslie Nielsen, Chris Rock, or Bill Murray. It will definitely have a general idea or storyboard but they will just let actors be actors. In fact, several casting calls usually include that they want actors with great improvisation skills.
In fact, I was in a short film made by Joy Villa. It was never produced-- The Orphan House. I just just an extra for the day. Near the end of the day, Joy finally uses me on set and gives me a situation with no scripted dialogue and I just have to make it up as I go. I wasn't expecting to speak. I just there to be an extra. But it was a good experience.

I love Leslie Nielsen because he is completely serious the entire time, you look at him and he is not trying to be funny. He delivers his dialogues as if he was in a drama.
The files of Police Squad refers to a tv show that aired years before the movie, but it was canceled after six episodes. The problem with a tv show with these characteristics is that you need to be 100% focused to catch all the jokes they delivered because as you could see, they delivered joke after joke after joke in a short period of time, even sometimes you could see something really funny happening in the background totally unrelated to the situational scene, and tv shows usually have a more light approach to comedy.
Years later they decided to use the jokes and format of the tv show and put it into a movie and they had this masterpiece of a comedy.

I have the whole thing memorized, as well. I watch a lot of the NHL and it's obviously sung before every Canadian team's home game (and there are 7 Canadian teams), so hockey fans hear it sung a good bit. I really like it. It's a lot easier to sing than our national anthem.

Yes, "The Naked Gun" movies are continuations of the TV show "Police Squad!". However, "Police Squad!" was developed as a vehicle for Leslie Neilson based off the wildly successful movie "Airplane!" in which Neilson portrays a doctor on a plane that is riddled with passengers and crew members with food poisoning. Frank Drebin is an extension of that character, a detective here instead of a doctor.
"Airplane!" was a spoof of the disaster movies of the 1970s, ie "Airport" and its sequels, "The Towering Inferno" and "The Poseidon Adventure" (which also feature Neilson). IDK why you reacted to the Naked Gun movies without seeing Airplane! first. It's a classic.
