It's pronounced "Kiapa", because it's italian. The letter "C" in Italian only becomes soft (as in "Tsh") when it is directly followed by an "e" or an "i", in every other instance the "C" is pronounced hard (as in "K").
Every revolver would do that to your gloves/fingers. As others have mentioned, keep your fingers away from the cylinder to barrel gap. Same as all revolvers. Not unique to the Rhino.
If you're holding the revolver properly it doesn't matter that the barrel is lower, you shouldn't get burned anyway. I don't have this issue with my Rhino. It'd be more accurate to say that the design is less forgiving of an improper grip.
The complex nature of the design, combined with the materials used, plus the cost of the Italian labor Yeah its not cheap, but even smith and wesson revolvers run in the $700-800 range and they aren't what they used to be.
Always liked the Rhino. But I love the Mateba. Same designer, same basic concept (firing from the bottom cylinder) but it also fires like a DA/SA semi-auto pistol. As in the recoil cocks the hammer after the first shot (there are videos that explain it better than I could). Too bad they don't make those anymore.
i like the honda civic but the lambo is just so much nicer, its faster, nicer looking, and if we are comparing the two exactly the same price! you are comparing a tarus to a colt python you may want to say its more than 4x the price as well
I own many many revolvers and I have been shooting for decades and this is absolutely the easiest revolver to shoot all day long with .357 magnums. My EDC is the 200D, people who down play this gun probably have never even picked it up. PS nobody should hold any revolver with that finger grip.
If I recall correctly, Chiappa includes with each new gun, a very clear warning to keep your thumbs away from the blast area - - for those who didn't learn this online in many videos.
I love my six inch version. I didn't feel that it's overpriced for what you get, but it was a gift. And yeah this gun will bite your finger if you don't keep it low...happens to me once in a while, if I didn't shoot it for a while.
i actually never noticed how the barrel on the Rino is so low that really awesome and def makes for a way more enjoyable shooting revolver ..I'm a def check them out I'm curious if they have a 44.mag .....awesome video
Also, I don't think 1k is too much for a high quality revolver like the Chiappa. Other options like SW 686 and GP 100 run about the same or more for the performance models.
I'm assuming that was the first revolver you have shot. You have to alter your technique when shooting revolvers as opposed to a automatics. Keep support thumbs down!!!
Green Light Shooting . All revolvers do you have gas and fragments escaping, usually at 12 o'clock not 6.... first revolver you ever shot. Whoever made that comment might've been smoking something.
Not all revolvers do it like the Chiappa. Friring from the bottom cylinder puts one's thumb much closer to the blast than with the average revolver. Definitely something to watch out for.
VitalyMack That's because this pistol, with the lower barrel, simply punishes you more for poor grip. I love this gun, but it's not smart to switch back and forth between a thumbs forward grip and a proper revolver grip. Muscle memory is going to kick your ass!
You know what is hard to take seriously? A guy who writes people off because they don't know everything that there is to know. I'd much rather listen to a guy who admits his mistakes and lets others learn from them than some keyboard commando toolbag who clearly takes HIMSELF too seriously.
It's simply less forgiving of a poor grip. I hold my Rhino 60DS the same way as I hold my S&W .44 Mag and have never gotten burnt by gases escaping the cylinder gap on either.
Wait you helped a customer with a broken gun? My local gunstore immediately threw out the "it's not my problem" when I had an issue with a shield. . . . maybe I gotta find another gun store.
Mille grazie! I just called my brother to ask about how to pronounce it and he didn't know. Up until this video, I thought this was a Mexican manufacturer. My bad.
My understanding with revolvers is that the gases can escape the cylindar like that on any modern model. I've been told that you should never hold your thumb like that when shooting revolvers.
If you are in the habit of holding your thumb really close to the slide on a semi-auto you can get into the bad habit of holding it too high on a revolver, it's just that a low-axis revolver like this is much less forgiving of such a grip.
if you had no idea about the danger of the flash gap, son youve no business playing with guns! they are not toys and can be very dangerous. you are lucky a little boo-boo is all you got.
"There's a ton of different grips you can throw on here." Not really, other than a guy out of England that makes left/right handed grips or Hogue and their oversized "big butt" grip there are not a "a ton" of different grips available and I'm not talking about Etsy/Amazon folks 3D printing grips.
Depends on how you grip you semi-auto, you certainly can't hold a revolver like how I see some people holding a GLOCK where they are constantly risking slide bit (I've seen a guy at the range get his thumb slashed open that way.) I can use the same grip on my revolvers as I use on my CZ-75 and other semi-autos without a problem.
I know, my 60DS is the lightest one I've ever held. If he wants heavy he should try a large-frame like a S&W 629, mine weighs in a 4 lbs before you even load it.
It'll say on the pistol if it was made in Italy (the 60DS has the Italy stamps) or in the American factory, it depends on the model as the Rhino is not the only line that they make. To my knowledge all of the Rhinos are from Italy.
Why boule you do a review on a revolver, or anything for that matter, that you have no interest in & didn’t even take 2 1/2 min to learn anything about the product?less than helpful to anyone.
Couldn't even watch the end of this video! If I had been a safety on this range I would have tackled this guy a long time ago! Never point your weapons anywhere except downrange.
It's pronounced "Kiapa", because it's italian.
The letter "C" in Italian only becomes soft (as in "Tsh") when it is directly followed by an "e" or an "i", in every other instance the "C" is pronounced hard (as in "K").

The only difference with the Rhino is that the barrel is on the bottom of the gun, instead of the top. So, the gasses escape closer to your thumbs!
@@ahikernamedgq you are correct closer had to train my dad on this after i taught him on my model 19
If you're holding the revolver properly it doesn't matter that the barrel is lower, you shouldn't get burned anyway. I don't have this issue with my Rhino. It'd be more accurate to say that the design is less forgiving of an improper grip.
You are correct.
The complex nature of the design, combined with the materials used, plus the cost of the Italian labor
Yeah its not cheap, but even smith and wesson revolvers run in the $700-800 range and they aren't what they used to be.
the gas ejection in front of the cylinder is a feature of 99.9% of revolvers
Josh Evans nagant revolver
Austin GX that's the .1%
That thing looks EPIC man!😀
Always liked the Rhino. But I love the Mateba. Same designer, same basic concept (firing from the bottom cylinder) but it also fires like a DA/SA semi-auto pistol. Actually they do. The Mateba Autorevolver is still in production, in .357 and .44 Magnum. www.mateba-italy.com/Revolver/
it has a higher barrel though so its effect is not as pronounced as in the rhino
i like the honda civic but the lambo is just so much nicer, its faster, nicer looking, and if we are comparing the two exactly the same price! you are comparing a tarus to a colt python you may want to say its more than 4x the price as well
I have the 30DS and it is my EDC gun. A very manageable .357 that I love!!!
My wife would love the 30DS (shooting a really snappy 38 revolver now), but they might not be making them anymore (website), so maybe the 40DS.
I own many many revolvers and I have been shooting for decades and this is absolutely the easiest revolver to shoot all day long with .357 magnums.
My EDC is the 200D, people who down play this gun probably have never even picked it up.
PS nobody should hold any revolver with that finger grip.
FYI. When saying it’s the hammer is incorrect. The hammer is internal. It’s a internal hammer cocking device. Notice it doesn’t move when firing.
I bought a BNIB Chiappa White Rhino for about $750 on Gunbroker. You can find them for a fair price online.
Wow What a Deal!!! $950 for mine but now I would have given even more!!!
Sorry mine is the 30DS.
Nice revolver! I have yet to purchase my first revolver, but I think tag price might be too much for me. Thank you for the review
If I recall correctly, Chiappa includes with each new gun, a very clear warning to keep your thumbs away from the blast area - - for those who didn't learn this online in many videos.

Lol all revolvers do that. Keep your thumbs away from the cylinder hahaha

How do you decock the trigger when it is in single action without firing?
Poor Chad doesn't know how to hold a revolver. Bad Chad. (Great video!)
It's a revolver man. Mind the gap lol You should have shot 357
Like these quick hits.
I love these things....can't wait to get one.
Love the vids. I’ve always liked these revolvers. Keep it up 🙏🏼
Great review- and I own one of those beauties with a 5” barrel
Have a 2'' and the 3'' white rhino and I love em.
I'm assuming that was the first revolver you have shot. You have to alter your technique when shooting revolvers as opposed to a automatics. Keep support thumbs down!!!
Luke Ubz This gun is easier to shoot than any semi auto polymer gun

no moon clips? CH=K in Italian
Blade Runner lookin gun... I want it
Sir this gun and you are awesome
5 years ago it was reasonably priced. Now its about 1200$+ depending on where you get it. My AK was 1400 thats only 200$ less. Bear that in mind
Looks sick
Read the instructions. It explains how to grip this pistol.
Wow You need to watch "How not to shoot a revolver" on hickok45's channel. It's hard to take you seriously now.
Matthew Miller I shot revolvers all my life, and this ONLY happens to me when I shoot my Chiappa. The barrel is much lower.
VitalyMack that’s kinda the point
VitalyMack That's because this pistol, with the lower barrel, simply punishes you more for poor grip. I love this gun, but it's not smart to switch back and forth between a thumbs forward grip and a proper revolver grip. Muscle memory is going to kick your ass!

that's the bladerunner gun right there..
The Italian pronunciation for "chiappa" is with the hard "c", in Italian "Ch" is pronounced as a "k" and, fun fact: chiappa means butt
Mille grazie! I just called my brother to ask about how to pronounce it and he didn't know.
Up until this video, I thought this was a Mexican manufacturer. My bad.
Lmao fr
Most revolvers have that danger of the blast by the cylinder, this is not just the rhino. You have to careful where you place digits.
What a beast of a gun! O_o Never even heard of this one before. But looks vicious :) Great video man!
Held one, handle should be a little longer
5 min on 30 DS pls ...& aftermarket accessories. Holsters & the best light laser combo (40 DS.. don't think 30 DS has a rail on it)especially.
I'm not a fan of the look. Only held one in the store. But I have really short stuby fingers. & found it difficult to pull the hammer back
My understanding with revolvers is that the gases can escape the cylindar like that on any modern model. I've been told that you should never hold your thumb like that when shooting revolvers.

"im not a huge fan of that"
you mean the way gasses escape from every revolver excluding the nagants?
Wish this review included shooting with .357 instead of .38 special.
if you had no idea about the danger of the flash gap, son youve no business playing with guns! they are not toys and can be very dangerous. you are lucky a little boo-boo is all you got.
Кросивый.
It's an Italian gun, so the ch is pronounced like a k
"There's a ton of different grips you can throw on here." Not really, other than a guy out of England that makes left/right handed grips or Hogue and their oversized "big butt" grip there are not a "a ton" of different grips available and I'm not talking about Etsy/Amazon folks 3D printing grips.
J'adore le chiappa rhino je trouve que c'est une très belle arme !
all revolvers do that you cant hold it like a auto feeder
Depends on how you grip you semi-auto, you certainly can't hold a revolver like how I see some people holding a GLOCK where they are constantly risking slide bit (I've seen a guy at the range get his thumb slashed open that way.) I can use the same grip on my revolvers as I use on my CZ-75 and other semi-autos without a problem.
I want one so freaking bad lol
It's a revolver homie! Hold it like one lol
Looks like $700 tops. Good luck, Chiappa.
Equivalent of $1925 in the uk.
Ever shoot a revolver before bud?
Beautiful gun, shit belongs in every game, movie, or anime if you fancy.
In Italian, the ch is pronounced as a k.
“Ton of grips out there?” Uh where?
The manual that came with mine shows a bunch of different grip options and part numbers.
Wtf is up w that echo?! I would never get used to that. No bueno
It's the tunnel that he's shooting into, I don't get that noise at a regular indoor range.
Heavy? That thing is light as hell. What are you talking about dude?
I know, my 60DS is the lightest one I've ever held. If he wants heavy he should try a large-frame like a S&W 629, mine weighs in a 4 lbs before you even load it.
Chiappa is out of Dayton Ohio. They import from Italy but are an American based company.
It'll say on the pistol if it was made in Italy (the 60DS has the Italy stamps) or in the American factory, it depends on the model as the Rhino is not the only line that they make. To my knowledge all of the Rhinos are from Italy.
comes out from the bottom hole
1k$ no thanks
Why boule you do a review on a revolver, or anything for that matter, that you have no interest in & didn’t even take 2 1/2 min to learn anything about the product?less than helpful to anyone.
Chiappa Firearms is an Italian. It's pronounce "Kiappa." It's like brushetta. Now please stop being an ignoramus.
Couldn't even watch the end of this video! If I had been a safety on this range I would have tackled this guy a long time ago! Never point your weapons anywhere except downrange.
