Jabu and Morula's 1st play in therapy pool | Living With Elephants | Botswana Elephant Sanctuary

Some of you will be aware that we recently had a Therapy Pool dug for Jabu. The idea being that he will have a place to get the weight off his injured leg and do a little physio in deep water. The pool is dug but our rains last season failed and so did our flood this year and it it very dry here with zero surface water. This means we will need to place a well point and pump at the pool in order to fill it. Luckily the water table here is quite close to the surface so Jabu and Morula, at least, have a place to cool off and take mud bath, now that we are heading back into summer. Today was the 1st day that Jabu and Morula went in for a bit of a splash. Morula had no qualms getting down. Jabu was a little more cautious because of his crooked and less stable legs. I think tomorrow we will let him go in first, and on his own, as we think Morula's rambunctious thrashing also made him extra careful. We are very grateful that they have a place to cool off and expended some playful energy. Thank you to all who have and continue to support our endeavors.
