Bicycle Adventure Far Beyond Cebu City: The Unforgettable Philippines Trip

- Traveling to the Philippines has been a dream of mine for a long time. It's always been so mysterious. Depending on who you ask, it's highly welcoming or extremely dangerous. So I decided to find check it out for myself, and I will do it on my bicycle.
No question, bicycle touring is the best way to learn about and visit a country. So I packed up my Surly bike and was on my way to the Philippines for a month of adventure.
My adventure started in Cebu City on the island of Cebu. It turned out to be the perfect entry point. The mix of old and new allowed me to acclimate quickly to the foreign culture.
After a few days, I left Cebu City for Moalboal. It did not disappoint. The reef and underwater wildlife were on point. There was also a small downtown area with bars and a variety of food choices.
If you ever visit Cebu Island in the Philippines. In that case, Moalboal should be a destination at the top of your list.
From there, my bicycle touring journey continued South as I traveled further off the beaten path. This was the Philippines I came to see. The scenery is beautiful, the people are incredibly friendly, and the food is delicious.

Loved watching you try the bone marrow! Since my my mom is from the Philippines, it's something I first tried when I was very young. My sister and I still fight over the marrow bones in a soup called Nilaga, lol. You nailed it when you said it's like meat cotton candy. Safe travels through the Philippines.

Thanks! I’d have to say sisiq. I like the spicy 🌶 and it’s a more complete and filling meal. I’d eat it often.

I don’t. I’m back in Cebu and I’m taking the ferry to Manila.
