A Convenient Truth | Bicycle Touring Taiwan 🇹🇼

  • Taiwan holds the record for the most convenience stores packed into one place. There is over 13,500, and that's about one per square mile. These spots have become a must-stop for anyone bicycle touring around Taiwan.
Now, when it comes to the grub and drinks in Taiwanese convenience stores, they're quite different from what you'd find in the US. They've got a considerable variety of ready-to-eat meals that are seriously tasty.
During our bike tour around Taiwan, we've been making frequent stops at 7-Eleven and Family Mart stores. While there are other choices around, sometimes the language barrier makes it a bit tricky to order food.
One thing's for sure: you can count on these stores for a cool escape. They've got air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and charging spots, which can be challenging to come by.
August in Taiwan means one thing: blazing heat. And in the midst of that, nothing beats taking a break in the middle of the day in a place with good food, comfy seats, and icy cold air conditioning.
So, come along as I show you the ins and outs of Taiwan's convenience stores. It's a journey filled with options galore and many perks you'll love.

I love waking up to a Sunday morning video from my friends. Crazy friends who deliberately travel to where active air raid shelters are a thing... at that.
It's funny how you take 7/11 for granted and then just the sound of the door can make you feel at home. Love the Costco mixed nuts too.
    Stay cool, love you both.

either coast line or valley in Taitung and Hualian, both have nice bike routes and sceneries.

I have been cycling around Taiwan too and truly it was beautiful. The density of the convenient stores is a huge advantage. I sincerely hope your video could inspire more people to do so.
(FYI, I recommend to take the train between Hualien and Ilan for safety consideration.)

7-11 originally came from the United States , but has successfully operated in Asian countries , such as Japan Korea Taiwan Thailand Malaysia Singapore Philippines and Hong Kong

The 7-Eleven’s here are so much better. In the US the food options are terrible. There’s no seating or wifi either. We can’t make a nice environment for people to hangout. Too many homeless and people prone to violence. We can’t have anything nice in the good old USA.
