Very nice looking old Mack restoration. Brings back many good memories. I use to own a 1922 Mack AC Bulldog that had started life as a New York Firetruck. Instead of a 4 cylinder engine, mine had a straight six cylinder engine in it along with tandem wheels on the back. My uncle bought the truck to use as a parade truck to promote our family owned lumber company, which is no longer in business. When my uncle passed away, it was left to my father, but when he passed away, the truck was left to me. We did get the truck running and I got to drive it around when I was 14 years old, but I did not have the money or resources needed to restore the truck properly so I donated it to the Circus Museum in Sarasota, Florida back in the early 1980's. Their museum found the old timers that had built the truck originally at the Mack factory and they did a fantastic restoration on the truck. It was heartbreaking for me giving up that old Mack truck, but I would rather see it in a museum fully restored than rotting away in a field with no money to restore it properly.

I spent my childhood in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. Being a mining state, Cornish miners came to Real del Monte; a mountain village near Pachuca, there they introduced soccer to the region as mining developed. An American school was established for the English employees children….I attended there for a four years. During my stay in Pachuca, 1950 to 1958, I watched these green dump Mack trucks on my street….huge machines, noisy too. The chain drive fascinated me. I believe the mining industry got taken over by American entities, hence the acquisition of the Mack trucks after the end of WWI. Enjoyed your video. You did a super job restoring it. Regards, Les

Beautiful old Mack, and shes up and on her feet again where she should be and not static in a museum (although I like those too).
A gentleman I work with had a 1927 AC Mack that worked in Pennsylvania until 1964 (I sat in that truck about 25 years ago at our State Fair) - it is now in our State transportation museum and still runs. Cant help but admire the old iron , thanks for posting!
Very nice job on the video as well.
Salute from Alaska and Keep'em Rolling!

I remember seeing these in a "concrete mixer" configuration in the late 50's in Queens NY, you could hear them coming " the chain drives "were humming away !

A friend of mine had a chain drive Mack just like this truck with a 5th wheel on the back.No electric start. You had to crank that baby and let me tell you when she wanted to start it wasn't to bad but when she didn't you could crank and crank that hand crank until you were to wore out to crank anymore.

My Dad was 20 yrs old in 1929, he drove chain drive dump truck Mack's, he said the darn thing would do a wheel stand when dumping large granite stones that would hang up at the tailgate, hauled a lot of large stones for the breakers at the beaches in Massachusetts,,,

    • @Hogger280

Well 77 HP at 1800 RPM translates to 225 ft. lbs. torque. Torque would be higher at lower RPM.

+BigRig Videos The truck of course is worth the price of admission, it is just out of this world and what a great subject to film. But the quality of the photography and the camera angles and the story are just outstanding. I'm not an expert on trucks, but I do watch a lot of TV, and I know whats professional. My friend is coming to visit me from the Florida Keys, and he has a 1960 Mack dump, he will be all over this.

+BigRig Videos My friend attends truck shows all over the eastern United States driving his Harley Road King and I am sure he has attended the Leesburg show that you mentioned in the video several times. I wanted to mention, and I am not sure the man is still alive, the videos featuring Don Robertson from Jerome, AZ. I meant to look through all your videos to see if you had ever interviewed him, one of my favorites is '47 international KB12, it kind of makes you proud to be an American. He would be a great subject for your series. And I am sure you get recommendations from people all the time.

+BigRig Videos yes this is the first video I have seen on this channel, my friend has a working ( hauls fill dirt) 1960 all original B61 Mack dump, Recently drove his bike from the Florida Keys to northern Alaska and back, a 15,000 mile round-trip, but he does not have a cell phone and he does not have a computer, so when he visits me, he wants to look at Mack videos. And I know he will love your presentation. In fact I don't think either of us will have ever seen anything like it.
