You need to choose LCD Auto-off Setting as Disabled in the Settings in order to have the screen ON all the time. If the screen is OFF the dashcam only provides the sound notifications.

Can you watch videos directly on your phone through thr app or is it just for settings?
Yes, you can. There is a video playback button on the bottom of the main screen. You can view and download all recorded videos using the smartphone.
