    Great review and probably the only one that explains the gearbox hi, low 4wd etc. Well done.
    I've got a 2.7 card wj and a diesel wk, had the wj 11 yrs, very capable off road with a rear ausi lokka. Love em. Much more comfy than a Lanny.

    Yes it has some rust. Just sand or wire brush, then apply water to clean the rust dust off, Spray rust converter. Those cars are already 15-20 years old. I have an 07 with only 80k miles. Love it. Off roads almost as good as a Wrangler but it is better on the highway and rides better too..

    Nice Jeep. I would try to delete the EGR if possible. I drive a Ram Ecodiesel, but it's tuned and deleted. Awesome mpgs! Averages around 30 US mpgs. As high as 35. I nelieve the Jeep uses a 4 cyl version of the VM Motori.

    Nice truck, and in excellent shape. Good choice having the shop do the belt.Like you said one mistake and boom.I wasn't aware this is a large truck in the UK. On a quick guess, we have about 50-50 mix of full size pick-ups and auto mix. I'm sure it will change in the future. The drive down the country lane was awesome looks like you live in a story book. Thanks for the ride and the chat. Be well my friend.

      Thanks. I wish fuel was cheaper here. That's what stops manufacturers selling anything other than economy cars here. This is one of the few American vehicle's that actually made it to market. Even so 89% of these sold here were diesel so not really the same. Although I am a big fan of diesel engines I wouldn't drive a petrol.

    Strangely enough, I like that Chrysler bong sound. (for when the car starts up) As an American myself, I think 1 of the few cars that would be fun to own in the UK would be a Dodge Challenger. That’s just my opinion.

    I bought the same type of 2.8 Cherokee, but with 6 speed manual gearbox. It had the faulty air blower which I fixed with the £12 resistor pack, and the adjusting mirrors had a faulty surface mounting resistor (150 ohm) which I replaced with a normal resistor. I do compare it with my old Ford Focus, which would have comfortably gone down that road at 40 mph. Most 4x4s chuck you around so much that you think you are really moving. Looks like you had a better deal than myself.

    How do you find out if the recalls have been actioned? Assuming in the log books? Planning to go and see one of these this week, so this review was super helpful on what to look out for. Just wasnt sure how to check if the recalls have been actioned when talking to a dealership. Right now its a decision between this, and a 2.0 Grand Vitara

    • @mattlawson2578
      @mattlawson2578 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use gov website, same site you'd use to tax a car. Scroll to the bottom of the page and the recall tab will be there. Pop your reg in and you'll see a list of recalls.
      Call your local dealer and they will tell you what's outstanding.

    The 6 speed manual gearbox (the Mercedes NSG370) is far BETTER than the 3 speed auto box with 2.8 CRD...It's like shit off a shovel away from the lights, but I can cruise at 27-28mph around town in sixth gear without even using the throttle because it has so much torque! My lowest average fuel consumption is 32 US mpg (38.4 UK mpg)...That's 12 US mpg better than the best mpg with the 3 speed auto! My normal driving average is 34 US mpg (41 UK mpg) and my best average, if I drive her like a granny, is 36 US mpg (45 UK mpg!).

    • @outdoorgorilla1493
      @outdoorgorilla1493  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it was different in the us but here manual box wasn't offered with full time 4x4 so couldn't use 4x4 on tarmac which was a huge disadvantage

    • @sigmasd10
      @sigmasd10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can use 4x4 on tarmac, but I am worried it would wear my tyres out so I would only do it in slippery conditions.

    • @jeremytodd4906
      @jeremytodd4906 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got a manual one, can't say part time 4wd has ever been an issue for me, when conditions are bad enough to need it it's slippery enough to use it.... they all have an LSD in the back axle (if it's not knackered!) I average 32 UK mpg.

    • @sigmasd10
      @sigmasd10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CRD's don't have an LSD as stock Jeremy...They all have open front and rear diffs as stock...It is up to the owner if they want to fit an aftermarket locker...If I had the money, I would fit Powertrax No-Slip Traction System fully automatic lockers...Unlike a lunchbox locker they are silent and they are guaranteed to last 100,000 miles.

      They’re the ‘blinkers’ for lane changing/cross road manoeuvres. Indicators is the proper term.
      It seems most countries that aren’t America need discrete, amber lights front, rear and (usually) on the side of the car to illuminate when the indicators are activated.

    Do you still have it? How are you getting on with it? Going to look at one tomorrow, moved to a pretty remote farm in Wales and my VW Transporter can't get up some of the horrendous hills to the house this time of year.

      I'm also in Wales. I don't I sold it only a few weeks ago. No particular reason just was offered 3.5k which was a good price.
      There good but be prepared to do some work on them I don't know if I said in the video but we've had 3 including one from new. They are charicterful but not realiable in the slightest. EGR, Turbo rear axel bushings all common fails. A petrol would be better but hideous on fuel

      Lift the registration plate, it's on a hinged flap. Use the wheel brace to undo the two bolts, or a 19mm socket will do.
