Though not material, there’s actually a difference between the two credit card providers in terms of foreign currency transactions. Depending on the currency, Visa usually provides better forex rates by up to 2%. Not much for individual transactions, but if you’re a corporate or spending in bulk in foreign currency, savings can be noticeable.

The simple answer is it does not matter hehehe. The bank matters more since they determine the fees and interest rates that they charge to customers. The bank also makes the promotions a card has so say if you like dining promotions I find BDO is strong in that regard.
But to answer I feel Visa is a bit better because on the onset they have better FOREX rates than Mastercard (but again the banks will decide on the markup from those rates). But I will not necessarily pick a Visa over a Mastercard if the card that you think matters to you more (say you prioritize fuel savings over points, like the Petron BPI MC )
i got a RCBC JCB Platinum. di ko inactivate kasi it’s like a premium credit card na nakafocus lang ung perks sa japan purchases at travel. maganda sana kasi it looks unique and it’s color black hahaha kaso ang mahal ng annual membership fee at wala naman akong passport. collection na lang hahahaha..

I'm glad to have both Visa and Mastercard. Dati, puro Mastercard lang until late last year. I also agree with what you said, Jax. I didn't have the higher-tiered cards such as the Visa Platinum and Platinum Mastercard until earlier this year. The first time I applied for Metrobank's Platinum Mastercard (actually World pala yun) was mid-2021 and they rejected my application. Tapos, deama lang kasi at that time, my mindset was, I was good even if I got denied. I just tried to have one. At the end of the day, I'm enjoying the perks and benefits of the basic cards that I currently have. However, I think what helped me get one (and another) at last was being a good payer and a financially responsible customer of all my banks. I strictly practice and ought to maintain my good standing. But who knows. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm right.

May mga promos lately that are Visa-exclusive and Mastercard-exclusive, so I decided to apply for a Visa card. Buti nalang may free annual free for life na promo ang RCBC at that time, with a required minimum spend.
I totally agree with what you said about the high tier cards: build your credit and it will find its way to you (char not char lol). I was pleasantly surprised when I was suddenly offered JCB Platinum.

Totoo 'to. A couple of Sales Agents from HSBC offered me cards (with other banks din like RCBC and Metrobank) with NAFFL promo last January tapos after a few weeks, I found out that they're not available na. The customer service agents of both RCBC and Metrobank phoned me to clarify a few information. Tapos I asked them what card(s) I was approved for since hindi na nga available yung may NAFFL promos. I didn't expect that they'd approve me for RCBC Visa Platinum and Metrobank Peso Platinum Mastercard considering na pareho akong declined sa kanila last year. Tiyaga lang talaga and manage your expectations. Haha

Technically visa mc etc are just payment processing centers, funding and perks are given by banks, although Amex discover parang in-house sila both payment processing center and financier… thanks to Bank of America they have invented visa hahaha, interesting to know diners club originated before mc…

Well i used to prefer mastercard, but since I love traveling, i switched to amex, but if not accepted, i still use mastercard
I prefer Visa kasi most of the time, mas mganda ang rewards nila partnered with the banks. Kaso mas mataas ang transaction fees nila against the merchants, kaya for example Amazon UK is planning to ban Visa cards due to high merchant fees. If you've noticed most of the banks are now leaning towards Mastercard. Citi Ph no longer issue Visa cards due to high fees and previously issued Visa cards will be replaced with Mastercard sa card renewal. Just sharing hehe. I have both Visa and Mastercard kasi na experience ko nuon na down ang Mastercard system worldwide. Love watching your Vlogs.
Yes totoo yan kasi nga malawak si Visa kaya kaya niya tagain mga merchant whahaha. A lot actually nag lilipat na nga pero still reco to get two pa rin hahhaa just in case. Napansin ko kasi mga local govt offices lahat Visa lang.

By the way.... One question pala, nakakatulong ba ang credit card specially with a credit limit na 150k to 300k for fast approval ng visa application from embassies? (Either mastercard or visa) aside from you have funds naman in your own savings bank.
Yes, I have several Mastercards na compared to Visa. My Citi is still Visa but eventually magiging World na din. Maiiba lang un benefits im sure. Anyway, happened to me too sa isang Japanese restaurant. They only accept Mastercard naman.

Hello, new subscriber here. New credit card user din. Ask ko lang ano ang magandang credit card ang gamitin in specific expenses? Like kung food ano magandang credit card, kung for travel purpose ano maganda etc.
Oh Welcome!! So it depends talaga on your personality kaya I dont usually recommend one card lang.
For travel check out my previous vlog on the best card with airport access. Check out BPI as well kasi ok forex rate.
For food naman you can go to my BDO or CITI na card :)

Same experience in the airport where they ask for a Visa credit card to pay for the travel tax, I usually use Mastercard, good thing I have both.

I have both Visa and Mastercard , they're both NAFFL Citi and RCBC. Pina cancelled ko na yung HSBC and Metrobank kasi may annual fees. Inofferan din ako kasi qualified ako mag add ng cc sa RCBC, Zalora credit card pero sabi ko ayoko unless NAFFL 😆

So I want to share my experience, actually I have no issues with mastercard which is I have one, pero may na-experience ako when my friend and I went to Bangkok, Thailand. Nang magwiwithdraw kami ng money sa ATM nila, yung mga ATM Cards ng friend ko which MasterCard Lahat, hindi kinain ng mga ATMs niya, which is sa akin muna nakadepend kasi puro mga VISA cards yung mga ATM ko. Kaya parang nakakatrauma yung experience ng friend ko, so one thing that I suggest, kung kukuha, always choose VISA. I'm not bashing MasterCard ah Hahahaha, it's ony based on our experience lang. But it's true that we need 1 VISA and 1 MasterCard.

Hi po sir jax pwede magtanong newbie po sa credit card, bpi blue card po, tumatawag po kai ako sa bpi using cellphone para magtanong kung paano mawaive annual fee ko, pero wala panaman po sa billing ko, kayalang pagkabigay ko nung 16 card number ko napuputol po. Sana matulungan niyo po ako

Hello Jaz good day, question lang po palagi ko kc na max out yung 55k credit limit ko sa cc I'm using kc my card for business purposes but I always pay on time and full naman never ako na late ng bayad most of the time advance pa. Is it possible ba na makaapekto yun sa credit score ko? SALAMAT❤️

yung 2 card mo kas is bpi best na one cutoff kasi shared credit limit lang sila. reco if ever get a card nalang from another bank with a diff cutoff

Hello po, I'm recently a board passer so wala pa po akong work and I'm literally so clueless about cards etc. I want to have a CC po either of the two man and reason ko is nahihirapan po kasi ako pag may need bayaran or bilhin na CC dapat ang gamit. Kaso main concern ko po is yung nakikinig ko po na utang or parang babayaran daw po? Eh hndi naman po ako super yaman and sanay sa ganyan kaya natatakot din po ako magkaproblem although it's necessary na to have a CC. I actually don't mind the benefits, what's most important for me is makakabili or bayad po ako via CC while not worrying dun sa parang fees na need bayaran. I hope you can enlighten me po 🥺
basta when you use your card always pay in full. do not overspend din ganun siya. lagi lang pay in full kung ano yung amount due sa bill mo
