  • This video may give you some great insight as to pellet preparation, weighing and lubricating can help with accuracy in some airguns. This test was my most challenging to date, it seemed at every corner there was something to trip me up. Though I did not have ideal conditions I soldiered on against high winds and inaccurate scales to finally get this video done. Though I am not thrilled with the results I am confident this video will help you in your air rifle journey.

The main factor I see that foiled the test results , was the wind & gusts . If you can not find a 50 yd indoor range . Just wait for an evening off where the wind is minimal , and put a wind sock at 30 & 60 yards to make sure the wind does not affect the test . Very interesting , Thanks for uploading .

Very interesting video. I use air arms Diablo field and Webley acupell. I don't weigh all pellets in the tin. I just weight 20 then take average. I wash, dry and lube pellets with Napier spray. My results are pellet on pellet at 30yds. Enjoyed your video though. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Very interesting about the weights of the pellets. I could see being a few tenths off from low to high, but how a whole half grain. And the ones that were not close to their advertised weight, makes me wonder about them. Good video for the conditions you had. An indoor range would be awesome to shoot in.

Question .. did you weigh the pellets before washing...after.. and or before or after lubing... I guess I am asking your process. Wondering if clean vrs dirty is a weight difference or if the oil added and noticeable weight difference. Looks like after that test you need to take a bottle off the wall and deplete it some!

I have to agree with some of the other comments - thank you for putting in a LOT of time and effort to weigh and sort these pellets, but that effort was largely wasted because of the wind. What would be really useful to know - in perfect conditions - is what weight range you can use to maintain an acceptable group at a certain distance eg would pellets within 0.5 gr of each other shoot the same.

Thank you for the video! I have found H&N pellets to be the best in my air rifles in most cases ( I own 13). While the FTTs and Baracuda Match pellets are usually free from deformation, the Power or copper coated version of both have been hideous in my experience. None of my rifles shoot the copper coated FTTs or Match pellets as good as the regular H&Ns. In addition, I lose anywhere from 1 - 4 FPE with the Powers versus the non-coated FTTs and Baracudas. IMO it's something to do with the coating proces that makes these pellets unreliable.

My Hatsan 85 Sniper .22cal will shoot the 5.53 FTTs non-sorted, unlubed and uncleaned in 5/8" groups CTC all day long at 23 yards. However, the FTT Powers and Baracuda Powers have never given me better than a 1 inch group at the same distance, even when I sort them..

Not sure but sizing may be more important than weight

Try white gas and 2 cycle oil 30:1
Yes its the next level of pellet lube

More to the process then you comprehending
The residual left over after evaporation will detonate.
Better still is Krytox oil so . . . .

First find a pellet your gun likes then worry about washing and lubing and if you are real picky ,weigh them.

hey boss looks like those pellets that you're shooting just ain't getting it done you need to try different weights and different brands because all in pellets is 18 points something as long as they within the specs they should all hit the same I've got a Benjamin Marauder rifle I shoot the 16 grain polymag pellets I shoot the 14.3 grain Benjamin hollow point 22 caliber pellet I shoot the jbs 15.89 pellet and at 25 to 30 yards they all hit the same hole but they're all pretty close to the same weight and that's out of a .22 caliber rifle all I can say is some guns like different pellets you just need to try a few in figure out what your gun likes the best I guess

Your rifle doesn’t like any of those pellets. I use synthetic 2 stroke oil.
