Awesome video! I've just recently started heavily following the premier league and have chosen Southampton to be the club I support. It's a lot of fun learning about their amazing and interesting history.
The Soccer Tavern a few interesting saints football facts. Southampton are the reason both Atlético Madrid and Athletic Bilbao wear red and white stripes for their kit. It came about when a student from Bilbao took home 50 surplus shirts from Southampton and gave them to bilbaos first team and Madrid’s youth team which then became Athlético Madrid. It was a a young chap who grew up in Southampton and who then went on to play for Southampton when they were still called st Mary’s that brought football to Brazil. He turned up in 1894 with a couple of footballs and a Hampshire FA rule book and football took off from their in Brazil. You forgot to mention that Matt le tis scored 47 out of 48 penalties in his Southampton career. No other player has or will ever be better than him at penalties
Good video. Wish you'd looked a bit more at Mick Channon as a player as he has an interesting story. After football he became a very successful racehorse trainer.
@@TheSoccerTavern yeah Channon still remains Southampton's all time goal scorer but he's done very well as a racehorse trainer. He's quite a likeable character as well.

Thank you for your reply i have supported Southampton for over 50 years Mick Channon played 510 games scoring 228 goals he is now a top race horse trainer he was my school boy hero and scored what is still called the best goal ever scored by a Southampton player its on you tube Terry Paine played 713 games scoring 160 goals was part of the England world cup squad in 1966 he hjas a suites named after him at St Marys as does Channon and is the clubs honorary life President Ron Davis know as the King of Wales 240 games 134 goals he was famous for scoring with his head and is still the only player to score 4 goals all with his head against Manchester United in one game. Southampton have made many players who have been either famous for us or other clubs

What makes us laugh is that you think being in The Prem is something to boast about, I hope Pompey never get back to The Prem, The Prem is a lefty happy clapper PC plastic league. I want Pompey to be in the Championship the most competitive League on Earth. The Prem has changed a lot since 2010, I hope you’re enjoying paying £40 a ticket.

@@MatthewJBD Ironically I have more money in my bank than you, yet I’m still not getting completely mugged paying £40 a home Ticket🙂, you Worzel, and at least I don’t have a West Country accent like you do, you country bumpkin, and we are joint top of the league you clown, again imagine boasting about a 0-4 win against A league 1 team’s reserves, you beat our reserves, The league cup isn’t even a major tournament, and I’m glad we lost 0-4 because it showed how good our fans were, 0-4 down and still singing & having a good team…like you’d ever do that.

That man is a legend. I just saw on Twitter his 2 ridiculous goals in 1 game against I believe Newcastle United.
And he stayed loyal to the club house s whole career, despite it meaning less cash and his being passed over for England call up more often than not
