I'll always get chills thinking about the last goal at the Dell. A bloke in the Milton Road End, behind the goal, said to his son, "d'you reckon we've got one last bit of magic left?" and not a moment later Le Tissier put an 89th minute, left-footed volley past the Arsenal keeper to win the game 3-2 and come back from 2-1 down. One of two Saints memories which make me cry, and the other is watching back the 1976 Cup Final.
The Dell and Matt Le Tissier combination was magic! I was blessed while studying at Southampton watched them play as he had his best years! And many years later to witness my home town Cherries 🍒 finally made it in the same league as the Saints was quite a rounded football journey - even now!
As an away fan, I’d say the fans who occupy the section to the left of the away end, were easily the loudest I’ve heard on my travels this season so far.
I was a steward at Fratton Park in 2012 but ironically all of their stewards are (or were) trained at St Marys. So we had to attend 2 or 3 matches at St Marys before working at Fratton Park. Nice stadium (coming from a Pompey fan!)
Hiya Ry, my team Newcastle never won at the Dell, I can remember when Newcastle were 2-0 up with 3 minutes to go and the game ended 2-2,Lee Clark and Alan Shearer scored for Newcastle, Ostenstad and Le Tissier scored for Southampton, I think it was in 1996/97 season, so I was delighted when Southampton moved to St Mary's, since then Newcastle have won quite a few times, even on a Tuesday night the Newcastle end was full, Chris Wood scored I think in a 1-0 win, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
I wasn't old enough to have been to the dell but I go every week at St Mary's for years. I occasionally go to Twerton Park in bath to watch them play and that's a proper old ground and what football grounds should be like should have a look around!
Blimey!!! 23 years old. 😮 I went to the first game against Chelsea and remember being blown away by this big spankin’ new stadium. Miss The Dell though. One of the best games I saw there was against Bolton in a 5th round FA Cup replay. Magical little old ground with a great atmosphere! Up the Saints! ❤️⚪️❤️⚪️😇👍

Not a Saints fan, but my favourite shirt has to be the Hummel one, but the original. The current one is ruined by the sponsor. The best football shirt template of all time imo.
Can see St Mary’s from the cruise ships top decks when in Southampton. Great Vid again Ry but perhaps you need another channel like “I’m in love with MLT”🙄🤣
keep up the good work. my team man city left maine road in 2003. I wish we had stayed. I try to imagine what you would say about Maine road if it was still there
I am a Southampton fan all the way from Australia and last year in July took myself and my son down to Southampton and was disappointed they were bloody closed both the shop store and stadium tour so we spent our money the next day at Chelsea Stamford bridge ........... LIFT YOUR GAME SAINTS !!!!!🤬
Looks like the trophy cabinet has been padded out with random items and yet they decide to hide the FA cup behind a wooden panel. It's the biggest trophy they've won and they're hiding it.
How long until you guys bottle league 1 promotion btw? As I’d certainly rather have just as many trophies than you guys over the typical fans lifetime (so what like 50 years) and be a regular top division team over that period (miles ahead of yourselves stuck down in the EFL for a majority of that period 🤫), than having a few extra trophies from almost a century ago 😬🤷🏻♂️
@@elijahkhairaWhere the only thing of note you've managed is a record 9 nil defeat, not only home but away as well...I'd rather spend more seasons in the lower leagues than be remembered for that.
It’s nice it’s not another Soulless Sponsored Stadium, St Mary’s is a fantastic name. Some Legends over the years at Southampton including Tom Parker, Ted Drake ,Steve Williams, Kevin Keegan, Mark Wright, Alan Shearer, David Armstrong, Wallace Bros, Reuben Agboola,Alan Ball, Uwe Rōsler, Theo Walcott , The worlds most overrated Keeper Peter Shilton and of course Matt Le Tissier. Can we change the channel name to Ry‘s Football League Soft Spots!!
When you do these tours I see a few statues placed around grounds any chance you could incorporate these into your videos .... do the spurs one again... you missed so much history outside the ground
Im a huge saints fan and and got to play at st marys one sunday in a tournament i use to play Sunday league football about 5 years ago i played in a disabled league im epileptic i can still remember smacking that ball into the back of the net was the best feeling ever Southampton fan through and through COYR

Class ending 👏🏽
To be at the Dell under floodlights watching my hero Mick Channon was a most wonderful feeling.😊

Yeah many of the greats played for them cool video

That’s probably Ross from the video getting the crowd going in the Northam Stand 😅👍🏾
saints fan here, both sets of fans to the side of the away end are pretty loud imo
@@RysFootyParadise left of the away end would have been Itchen
@@MM-76it depends. If you’re looking from the pitch, the stand to the left is Northam but if you’re in the stand then it’s itchen
@@TheMusicM4n Well seeing as he started his comment with " as an away fan " I automatically assumed he ment his left which would indicate the Itchen

i know they’re practically the same stadium but i’d love to see you do a video on leicesters king power.
Southampton is a club that is always on the verge of greatness but will always get picked off with their best talent (apart from LeTiss)

Great video, nice stadium…so many faded seats in the stadium though looking pink, get them replaced saints
Bobby Stokes, Pompey Boy, won the FA Cup for the Saints.

Class ground & Class Vid Ry👍👍👍
Going to the saints Millwall game, I’m a cherries fan though
Hi Rye
Shearer on his debut as a 17 year old in 1988 scored a hat trick against the Arsenal. He was earning £35 a week!
Love your video's
Cheers mate! Yeah what a machine!

Bloody loud outside the ground with that traffic 😊 😂
Fun fact. Fratton Park describes the Skates excellently. “Nott Arf Krap”.
Like your trophy cabinet🤣 ⭐️🌙
More like lower league fish fiddlers
Didn’t miss the tight nets from the dell…remember Mark Hughes ghost goal? They were a liability even if it was more intimidating
great video. great stadiums series. it would be better if you just let the fan speak without interrupting him, though

Season weren’t on so not surprised. Also don’t even think the new kits were out yet so not like much to put in the shop
Come to Elland Road Ryan, I'd happily show you round the outside of it. Tours run in the school holidays and at Christmas if you're interested
I’ll give you a shout when I head up mate 👍🏾 they don’t seem to be doing tours atm so might have to be for a match
Sound mate give me a shout.
Falling apart

The player that scored the winning goal in that cup final, was Portsmouth born and bred Bobby Stokes, saints rivals. That's why they've hidden it!

I am on there
Which one are you mate?
Yes Rocket Ross
Blackburn coz he got it past his good mate Tim Flowers, another Legend
Why does Ross keep staring at me? Glad to see Le Tiss hasn't been depersoned at St Mary's.
Le God* 🙌🏾
The night before Southampton trashed United I had a dream that Southampton would thrash United.
You should have dreamed of your lottery numbers coming up 😁
Why not just clip the mic to the jacket?
Seems it’s just arsenal you didn’t have a soft spot for 😂
