In forward bias above knee voltage and in reverse bias less than breakdown voltage. In forward bias a very high voltage will also damage the diode.

Sir why the current does not flow in reverse bias

In reverse bias condition width of depletion region increases that causes barrier potential increases. Hence charges can not diffuse into p and n region... hence there is no current flow in reverse bias condition.
