Horn of the Abyss did not change the Clone spell to create two clones. This is the specialty of Eovacius, the hero you were facing! The first clone he creates in every battle will be 2 clones, any further clone casts will proceed as normal. He even starts with Clone in his spellbook, and has the mana to afford it, right out the gate!

Been playing myself since release in 99 but never tried any mods so really enjoying watching you have a go at it. Also, audio levels are fine to me, I always listen in earbuds and can easily hear your narration and the game sounds. Gotta say I really appreciate your in-depth explanations of your thought process for your strategies, as well as the occasional roleplaying of the heroes. I feel like its rare to get both in a lets play, a lot of people are into roleplaying or into the strategy but not both. Keep up the good work! Cheers from Sweden.

It's hard to get the balance between explaining things and wasting viewers' time and I know I'm so much slower than most streamers are so that's good to hear you're liking it. I was thinking about doing a 'HotA for Boomers' type video maybe after I've done another playthrough although I'm not sure if I like the term Boomer. But the idea would be to simply walk people through how to go from GoG download to HD HotA and then a high level look at the template editor, and kind of a 'why this is good and you should bother' synopsis. Interested to hear your/(and any others) thoughts (no obligation). Thanks again
Hey Paul, not sure if anyone has mentioned this but in HoTA the quick combat uses no spells. Thats why there are several times the quick combat suggests retreat/loses the fight when you are able to crush it with spells. Love your videos, keep them coming!
@@paulgoes5494There's a setting, I believe, to make an auto use spells, although I don't recommend switching the evil thing on :-)) It will waste your mana in no time
I don't think destroying useless artifacts is necessarily something this game needs. There are plenty of ways to get rid of them and benefit yourself in the process! There are the artifacts merchants, which 3 factions have access to, there is the Altar of Sacrifice that allows any hero who isn't from Inferno, Necropolis or Dungeon to sacrifice them for experience, the Grotto in the Cove towns that does the same thing, the Junkman on the highlands terrain that buys them from you... Might be something else I'm forgetting. Of course, the Junkman and the altars won't accept spell scrolls, but I'm sure you won't fill all your heroes up with them before you run into artifact merchants at least once.
The two heroes who start with navigation (and coincidentally specialize in it) are Sylvia the knight and Voy the witch. You probably confused Styg with Voy because they're both (seemingly) smol blue lizard ladies. I'm sure Styg herself won't take too much offense though, she must be pretty humble from having to deal with 10 older siblings who all seem to be given priority over her... But also, Horn of the Abyss adds another navigation specialist, in the form of Elmore the pirate captain, who replaces the crewmate specialist Derek on water maps. I hope you meet some navigation heroes in this playthrough eventually!

Your mic might be a bit louder than the music and sound effects from the game. Overall, your videos are quieter than other youtube videos. Idk if it’s possible but if you have the option to make the whole video louder it would help

48:11 clone still summons only 1 clone stack in hota, it's just because eovacius (enemy hero) is clone specialist, he is exception beeing able to summon 2 stacks 1:25:30 diplomacy was also nerfed in hota, units no longer join you for free (only if you pay) and you get only 50% of what you'd get normally even tho you pay for 100% of them, I get why you avoid using it in standard version but I think there is no need to do that in hota
@@paulgoes5494 there is also the fact that it's you who gets to decide if you accept the joining troops or not, you can just decline them joining if you don't want to make use of that ability. You might say 'why bother when you can just ban diplomacy altogether and not worry about it?' but there's actually a good reason to keep it even if you don't use the joining part. Diplomacy reduces the cost of surrendering during combat (so it can save you loads of gold if you get attacked unexpectedly), and it allows your hero to use libraries of enlightenment when your level is below 10. That last bit is not very relevant since you're usually already level 10 or higher when you can defeat the library's guards, but if, let's say, you break a level 6 hero with expert diplomacy out of a prison, you can buff them up with a library immediately!
Benn thkngmjng about i don't remmeber if it wad a mod or a dlc but it had in it a 'commander' unit so speak it was really lkng aho and i bearly remmber anything from that execpt that in one of the campaigns you have undead and a commnader wich looks like a naga and you star with the armagadon spell and protection from fire
