Well deserved Grammy for this. Bonnie heard this news story about this, and decided to write a song about it. The Grammy win was unexpected but so well deserved.
This song really makes me cry. Bonnie Raitt is such an amazing storyteller, singer and guitar player. She is a legend and a gift to American music. I am not sure what you've listened to, but Angel from Mongomery, I Can't Make You Love Me, Nick of Time, and Something to Talk About are all amazing songs I really love.
Oh my, I wasn't expecting that! Brought on the tears! Bonnie is a force to be reckoned with! She is one of the best guitarists on the planet! And she can cover any genre! "Something To Talk About" is my favorite. Thank you Lyle!
She reminds me of Johnny Cash's later body of work. An artist who intimately understands their vocal instrument, and sparse, sublime accompanying music.
She's still sounds good. Saw her in the early '70's in the tiny coffee shop at the University of Minnesota. Too bad Linda Ronstadt can't sing anymore. They were 2 of my favorites.
I just received my CD today, I adore this woman. She is my definition of a strong independent woman. Lots of love and respect for you, Bonnie. Hope you will continue to be our light ❤️
Pat, Bonnie Raitt was running with the Southern Rock boys as the Allman Brothers coalesced their sound and so many rose high into the music strata of late '60s and '70s music. For all of those musicians that has passed on, Bonnie Raitt's that heart in the chest we can all hear.
I've watched your beautiful reaction to this song several times, Lyle. I like that Bonnie has gone back to her Folk roots in this new album. Another song from that album that I think you'd enjoy is "Down The Hall." Cheers!
I get to see her again in concert soon. I try to listen to this song as much as possible so I won't cry when she sings it. I can not listen to it without crying. I is such a beautiful song but It just breaks my heart!
Powerful tale. And especially the comment about the passed-on musicians: "Bonnie Raitt's that heart in the chest we can all hear." Still. This reminds of the 2000 movie, RETURN TO ME with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. Bring some hankies. Maybe pull up Duchovny's aliens-on-earth comedy EVOLUTION afterwards, too.
Bonnie was clearly SHOCKED to hear her name called when they announced she was the winner of the Song of the Year Grammy. She had zero expectation of winning considering she was competing against Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Adele.
Drop D tuning, Simplicity never rings more true... when that first line of "If I hadn't looked away" then the worst and best line: "I was with my boy again." Man oh man...
Hey Brother. I heard this song 12 years ago. My Best Friend, Jesse Allen {The Spirit of Memphis Quartet) told me about her. This song is given in the same Spirit as the Great Mahalia Jackson. You cannot teach one to sing from their soul. Only us.the NEGRO a.k.a. the Children of Almighty God of Israel can sing in this manner. Read Psalm 137. When we were captured by the Babylonians in 600b.c., they asked us to sing the Beautiful Songs of Zion. Bonnie Raitt captures this Spirit. She dropped out of Harvard or Yale to sings with Negroes in the Hood of Washington DC. This may account for her extraordinary talent.
It's a shame there is this worry. I wish TH-cam would allow direct links into songs, movies so those rightsholders could keep their counters/tickers going, and giving reactors/reviewers the chance to draw in audiences on their own. Pat remains the only channel that ever did the first Allman Brothers' album reaction properly, especially combining the first two tracks as intended. Then on and on.

Please discover her earlier works….Sweet Forgiveness, Home Plate…the song Home by Karla Bonaff is one of my favorites.
You and me both. Instant waterworks.
Talk about Goosebumps. The song really hits home for me I lost my son 2013. You should do her Nick of Time
I really enjoyed your reaction to this earth-shaking song. Bonnie takes your heart, breaks it, and later in the same song, heals it.

For me, it’s I Can’t Make You Love Me.
So very happy a real artist won an award on this year's Grammys.
I’ve always appreciated and loved this women . So happy she won this award for this amazing song . So well deserved
Tears and a fist in the gut. Man she hits hard. I was ready for it to be a son she had given away at birth not a life she had saved.
She reminds me of Johnny Cash's later body of work. An artist who intimately understands their vocal instrument, and sparse, sublime accompanying music.
She's been writing heartfelt and gorgeous songs for a lifetime. She is amazing.

Her voice reminds of Janis Joplin.
Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us...
How were you able to do this? How did you get permission to use this video in your own video?! Help me out?
