  • Some rich people were born into money, but many got there because they took certain actions that the rest of us wouldn’t think to take.
    As they say, “A change in habits leads to a change in life.” Here’s what I’ve observed that rich people do differently. And FYI, they do EVERYTHING differently! Follow their habits, mindset, and action, and you will get the same results.

    01:37 The difference between Rich and Poor are in their mindsets.

      I've met rich doctors who are very careful with money. 1 of them showed up in a 1983 Toyota Corolla because their dad gave it to them.
      Another complained a label on something they wanted was $12. The young assistant couldn't understand why he was careful with money. Your a rich doctor. Why don't you get what you want.
      His answer? An abundant life is not made up of things. He wouldn't tell the assistant what did have value. I think it was wiser to leave it up to the young man what was truly of value.

      @@tradingnichols2255 I think like with everything, spending benefits from balance. What's the point of being rich if you look at even small price tags and cannot afford yourself to spend within a certain budget that allows such low-cost items? What's the point of being rich when even after achieving it, you still live extremely frugal lifestyle and deny yourself the comforts you could easily afford without risking your overall financial security? What's the point them of being rich at all...so you can pass it on in a trust fund to some spoiled offspring that will not know the value of money (because they got it for free) and will blow it all on parties and bling? Something to think about...

    • @foreign_agent

      Thanks - this mostly makes up for the video and saves 20 minutes ;) Although Rose is a very pleasant narrator.

    • @tradingnichols2255
      @tradingnichols2255 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@foreign_agent I think it is a balance yes. I have had a lot of periods where meeting basic needs were a challenge so I seek to become more wealthy so I can afford to not have lack of comforts which most people would call needs.
      Denying myself what many call needs, which are really just wants when I am doing well so I can invest more, and prepare against the downturns of life, these are things that I will do until I'm well enough off that I could be an old man and never have to work again.
      None of us can work forever, but we may live a lot longer than the time we are alive, so some wealth building is important.
      I once met a hard worker who just had to survive until he was 25 and then he'd be a trust fund kid. His attitudes were already wrecked knowing he only had to be responsible that long. He didn't live worrying about the future, which sounds good, but it didn't temper his actions whatsoever in the present.
      I think about him, when I think about how I don't want my kids to become trust fund kids.
      And if they did, that it would be of small help to help, which can be very nice, even if they still have to work, maybe if it's a bit easier, they will be a little more comfortable, but still have to work to achieve and in that find the joy of building something of themselves and contributing like we all should be able to do to have a life of meaning. Rose used to often end her videos with quotes or her own beautiful words about living a full life. And this is so many things other than money.

    Rich dad, poor dad changed my entire mindset on how I think about money. I handled money poorly my entire life until a light bulb went off 5 years ago. Each dollar is a worker. Allocate it to an asset where it can generate more. Opportunities today allow for easier ways to invest in things that only people with lots of money were able to. Educating people like you are is key. These types of discussions should happen in schools more.

    • @moneybee
      @moneybee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're so right Anthony! It's amazing that personal finance knowledge isn't covered more in schools, as learning it early provides children the most time to have their money work for them! Glad to hear that you've set yourself up for the last 5 years for success. 5 years of hard work is something to be proud of, and you should recognize the little wins along the way! I love hearing about people making success on their financial journeys, keep it up! :)

    Hi Rose! Love your channel and how you present everything makes so much sense! I’m just starting out on my financial independence and literacy journey & the information that really resonated with me and what I’ve noticed about my life, is that all too often I let fear and being afraid to take risks keep me from the rewards in life that could’ve been for me if I had not let fear control my decisions. So grateful to be unlearning a lot of things now and working towards changing my mindset towards money and taking action rather than letting fear paralyze me.

    The part about buying a car for $40,000 that's worth $40,000 and immediately losing value. I bought a new car for $20,000 15 years ago and took 7 years to pay off. My car is now worth about $900 maybe. I didn't know back then. I was poor and didn't have the best credit and they said all the right things to me to make me believe I needed this car. I still have that car and it's worth more than $900 to me and I will drive it as long as I can. I hate car payments and never want one again. I wish they taught this kind of thing when I was in school. Thank you!

    Hey Rose. I love your videos and am learning a lot about finance from you. This one hurt me a little bit to hear you say, "the type of neighborhood with payday loans and fried chicken places on every corner." Ouch. This is some dog-whistle language that reinforces stereotypes and implicit biases. One of the reasons I enjoy your channel so much is because I appreciate getting investment advice from a woman of color. Please think about how to further positive narratives about POC while giving investment advice. It's something lacking in the industry, and I think your audience will be better off for the effort.

For me, before taking any step towards generating more wealth, it is really important to begin with examining my own paradigms about money first. I'm a firm believer in inside-out change. If I have limiting concepts about money, then I will be setting myself up for failure, and my actions will reflect my limiting concepts, which will yield little results. Consider purchasing stocks that pay dividends and then selling covered calls against them. If you sell contracts with future strike prices above today’s (market) price you can potentially gain three sources of income: capital gain from the stock price appreciation, option premium from the option buyer, and quarterly dividend payments.

    • @ruohanli7520
      @ruohanli7520 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Covered calls will do all kinds of different things (including damaging your assets) depending on the stock price. You have to use it on very specific stocks that are less volatile and have a "just right" growing speed for you to profit. Money isn't that easy to make haha.

    While I actually like watching your videos that was quite a tone deaf and distasteful comment you made about lower income neighborhoods. Being that I grew up in one and also experienced gentrification (which is what you described). My suggestion to you is to educate yourself more on these topics especially having the kind of platform you have.
    Ask yourself this why do you think these lower income neighborhood that are majority POC have all those fry chicken spots on every corner and payday loan offices?
    And before you trolls comment just to let you know 1. I do not care and 2. If you never lived through it then you cannot speak on it.

      These mindsets in this comment thread is whats going to keep you broke. Also to add to the original comment. Most poor neighborhoods have fried chicken spots and payday loans in them because the people there arent properly educated aaaand most poor neighborhoods are what is known as food deserts. A food desert is when a community has no immediate access to free produce and meats. Then people and companies move into these neighborhoods and build family dollars and what not thinking thats going to help.
      The problem is people in these communities dont care enough to get involved in their communities and bring a farmers markets and grocery stores into their communities. The community are the ones who need to step up and take leadership. Thats why gentrification happens. No one in the community steps up so buyers who sees a cheap property is going to buy and build capital. Being poor and being rich are mindsets.

    There's something about the way you speak. It's not judgemental and has a very interesting tempo that keeps me focused on what you are saying. You sound like a friend I know. Good content!

    Love the conclusion you make about the reason of getting rich... :D. Have created an excel to keep track of my networth and update that once a month to make sure the slope is a positive number. And was a bit scared of opening a fidelity account and buying index fund but have been in love reading about stocks, bonds, news and acquire different mutual funds to grow. Thank you Rose.

    Rose is spot on ...... People are a "product of their environment " --- you simply need to emulate exactly what wealthy people do !! If you linger around lovers, nearly guaranteed you will be a zero. I hate it when I see people driving BMW's--but live in a apartment 😒.

    I couldn’t agree more Rose! The mindset is everything and determines where you will ultimately end up financially! I’m glad I killed off my poverty mindset.

    Very good. A wealth mindset makes the difference. I use to not care about money, and had none. I shifted my mindset about money and it continues to flow in.
