  • My favorite places while walking the Camino:
    PORTO:
walk along the Duoro River, visit the Port wine cellars across the river in Gaia, walk across the Dom Luis I bridge, eat delicious Portuguese food, learn how to make (and eat!) Pasteis de Nata, try the infamous sandwich in a soup, and meet the friendliest people! I absolutely love this city
    VIANA DO COSTELLO:
had the most amazing seafood dinner here! Visit the Church on the hill (there’s a funicular if you prefer, you don’t HAVE to walk up the hill) and sample some tasty pastries
    A GUARDA:
like the amalfi coast but without all the tourists and overpriced drinks, gorgeous water with lots of coastline in the inlet, had delicious paella here, walking in to A Guarda and out of were some of my favorite views
    PONTEVEDRA:
I took my full rest day here and it was so lucky because the old town is just lovely, I had my first taste of torta di Santiago here, and the Cathedral is stunning, inside and out.
    I’d spend more time here:
    BAIONA:
only stopped here for lunch, but the views walking in and out were amazing and I kinda wished I had stayed in this historic medieval village for the night
    REDONDELA:
again, only stopped for lunch and a visit to the cathedral, but it looked like the perfect historic Camino village. Be on the look out for the viaduct that goes right through the Camino path
And one I’ll try to avoid if I walk this route again:
    VIGO:
a big bustling city, that interfered with the lovely cozy quaint vibe of the rest of the Coastal route, I loaded up on snacks and supplies from the farmacia, but did not enjoy
