Moved to South Florida from Chicago suburbs 24 years ago. Met my husband here and started my new life. Love it here. Florida is my home. Much of my family moved down here as well. Love Florida.
I’m from the north side of Chicago and can you tell me where in Florida would be similar regarding cultural diversity? Used to seeing Arabs, Blacks, Whites, Asians, etc etc…😊 Thank you!
Want to thank you guys for being honest about living in Florida. We need more people like you that say the facts about giving truthful information. God bless
This video was so, so good. We were the "someday" people -- we took a huge leap this month and are making the choice NOW to change our circumstances and like you, wanted more for our youngest, our daughter. We raised two boys that are now on their own but there's still a big world out there and traveling from FL is so much easier than from AK. Couldn't agree more that we should focus more on things that make us happier and healthier in the long run, bring joy to your family and if that means more sunshine, palm trees, beaches, dolphins, and manatees --- uh, go for it!!!
Glad we are not alone in our similar evaluation. My wife and I moved 2 years ago in Oct 2019 from a small town in Mississippi. Our biggest difference is we are empty nesters. Everything you said is spot on. The hardest part truly is making connection away from family. We wanted to move so bad last year from homesickness . We are finally getting acclimated in our community in Wesley Chapel. It is a different world for sure and it has been quite an adventure. I throughly enjoyed this video. Good luck to you guys.
We retired in Gulfport, MS 4 years ago. We enjoy the sub tropical weather and we don't miss the winters or traffic in Dallas. I do get homesick from time to time but not enough to move back!
Am so glad I watched this video. I am a basket of anxiety as well and that scares me with relocating but I realize I have to get over it if I want to live my best life. My husband and I will be visiting Florida in April ( God willing 🙏🏼) we will actually be staying in a home in Davenport and am so excited. We have never been to Florida this will be our first time. But we are looking to relocate from New York and we are really looking forward to move somewhere warm and Florida as well as Texas call us. Thank you for all the honest information provided in this video 🙏🏼❤️
You are very welcome, and we hope that you enjoy your time in Florida! Good luck to you and your family, wherever you choose to go! If it’s Florida, we’re here for you! 😊
It took me more than two years to consider FL home LOL, but I do now, I love it, especially the smaller communities of Central Florida. I am a bit adventurous myself and absolutely that is one of the reasons I prefer central Florida to the coast. There are far more directions to adventure out to when you aren't on the coast already.

My health is the #1 reason we want to move to Florida. My sickness flares in winter and it's like I live in a sickness fog. Thanks autoimmunity. I'm really concerned about the schools, as well. We live in a small community with a tiny school and they are great. Thanks for sharing! Oh and by the way, it's still snowing here in Ohio. My daughter has missed almost 2 weeks straight of school because the bus can't drive on our snowy road and we can't get out!
Here in Pennsylvania isn’t any better for weather.we’re so done with our cold snowy weather here too. Where ready to move also. Next year. Good luck. We just don’t know how we’re doing to do our move yet
Greetings from NYC. We used to visit Florida often when my parents were alive. The people there were wonderful to us, and we made many friends. We'll never move there but best of luck to all Floridians and thank you. Good luck.
I love what you guys said towards the end of this video that sometimes you just got to push through things. When times get tough you can't just run back to what's comfortable for you. I've lived in Florida 7 times 85% of my family lives there. But you got to go to Florida with a plan or it will not work you have to stick it out as well.
Thank you for this video. I'm so SCARED 😳😳 but so ready for change and a better life. I have some health issues and my husband has really bad anxiety and when it's cold out it gets a lot worse for both of us. Ready for a better life style. It makes me push harder also because of my family saying I'm going to fail.

I've lived in Florida most of my life (56 years). I do love it here. I find it interesting that you mention as a "CON" the traffic and yet are encouraging more folks to move down here. Traffic is a real issue and more people moving down here only makes it worse.
Beautiful couple!!! Love your honesty and tight family bond …My wife and I moved from New York..to upstate South Carolina and we can relate to your difficulties even to a grreater extent
As a Florida local I'd like to add. When you first move it will be a bit hard, but it gets easier. It'll take about a year to a year an a half to get into the Florida lifestyle. Once you make pass the difficulties you'll be opened up to to all the wonderful and beauty, people, places this state has to offer. I've had friends and family from other states come for a visit and a few years later they're moving here. Maybe not to Tampa but to cities in the states that best suits them. Like anywhere USA there's going to be problems, no place is perfect but with an open mind you can make Florida home. I enjoyed your post.
I wouldn't go back to WI to visit family. Have them visit you! After all, you're the ones in a vacation state. It will be a vacation for them which is a bonus in itself.
@@torpedoLaw Having a home in WI, SC, and FL, i will say WI is the most expensive especially now having the 5th highest property taxes in the US. $250 for HOAs is pretty damm cheap. I am Latino american citizen relocating to Kissimmee from Costa Rica... that is great that you guys are so humble and smart about opening to diversity. That makes you guys awesome people!!
There are hundreds of videos about being in and or moving to Florida. The realness and experiences you share of your journey makes This video. The Best of all, on moving to Florida videos. Keep doing what you do. Thank You !
Great video! I agree as a Rhode Islander who is super close to my family and moved across country to San Francisco and now moving back across country to West Palm Beach, to make relocations work.. you have to “burn your ships” and get over the fact that the new state IS your home. Your original state is your hometown but there’s a difference.
Watching your video right now tyfs we’re a family of 6 and a dog. About to move to Florida within the next 2 months. Just came back from a vacation over there. Even put a video up on my TH-cam on it, I’m truly in love with Florida and have family over there. It’s a scary move and a huge leap of faith but we see ourselves over there really soon. Thanks for sharing!
Ya'll are amazing: good video, Erik you're awesome & Lindsay, your words express what I think anybody moving to Florida needs to hear! I've been living in FL for a year as of this month.. Many great points in the video but to share my experience moving from CA back to FL is keeping an open mind is key. Now, the diversity here is amazing but to get a negative out of the way, I found that part of that can lead to racism; this should not discourage one though and know to persevere. The upside of diversity far outweighs opposite. Now with the weather, it's so epic here! Being humidity is constantly changing here: STAY HYDRATED! When I started a framer job in October, I had severe heat stroke; make sure to learn about keeping hydrated year round in FL. To reference FWF's earlier videos about your drivers license/ vehicle registration, the process here at the Tax collectors office in Hillsborough county was a 1 stop shop; lights years ahead of the DMV in Central CA! Only to add to FWF, traffic is a mother and people/ roadways get packed all the time; plan accordingly. Next is bugs: embrace that insects will be in your dwelling and you can repell them but they're gonna be everywhere....especially ants. My last 2 things to mention is all that's available, in abundance, here within the state of FL in regards to industries and recreation: tourism is the 4th largest industry in the state..everything is moving here and even during the pandemic (pros and cons there) & how you and yours can do something different every weekend for life involving beaches to zoos as well as other healthy and fun aspects to your life! Thanks- #FWF
I moved to Florida about 9 months ago. Missing family at this time like you guys said around the 8 month period. It definitely has been a rollercoaster to say the least lol. Thanks for these videos, it really helps when you’re trying to remain positive and create a new positive beginning for yourself 🙏
It is shocking how you two are just like my wife and I. Health insurance was our biggest challenge here at the beginning. It is so different from up north. Makes me want to do a video like this.
@@torpedoLaw I'm from the midwest and and been living in Florida since 2005 and let me tell you quality of life has gone downhill. Don't let the no state tax fool you! Whatever you ain't paying in taxes you gonna be paying in tolls, insurance, HOA fees and CDD fees. Florida isn't the relaxing cheap state with good weather it used to be.
Thanks you for all the information, and talk about all culture and especially the Latino Comunity so respectful and kind . Gracias . We need more people like you . Love to see you together. I believe you are a amazing Parents. 🧡
We just moved here in October and my adult boys still live back home and I’m really going through that pain of missing them , it is debilitating. I’m still adjusting to being here , but I know it takes time . I’m going home in a couple weeks to see them . Thanks for your videos!!
I moved here in November and my oldest son and daughter are home. It still hurts my heart, but we had them down for Thanksgiving with negative Covid tests and just really enjoyed showing them around. :) Hang in there. FWF helped us do research to move here and this video did my heart good. Just knowing you are not alone in your feelings helps. :)
We moved to Florida in 2014 from up north and definitely the healthcare and the schools are so different it is quite frustrating but you’re right the weathers awesome
Thank you for sharing! Saying you going to fail is another way to say "I will miss you" I also will be relocating next year! Super nervous but excited!
Thank you guys for another great video. I’m from New York and school system and health care sound the same. 😪 what you mentioned About health care actually sounds less stressful than in nyc.sometimes we have to make an appointment available in 1-2 month. Ridiculous!
Very good video guys. Our family is currently seriously thinking about moving down there from PA, and there is still so much to learn! Love your channel.
I really enjoyed the video. I have been here since August 2018. It has taken me two years to adjust to Florida. Is am still adjusting. Luckily, my kids have graduated high school before we got here. I came from New York state from a small town about 45 minutes north of NYC. I have had to adjust to so many things. Thank you for making this video.
I appreciate your videos so much. I too am a ball of anxiety. We'll be not only be leaving the only place we've ever lived, we will be leaving a lot of our family and friends AND our son will be starting college (which is a whole other anxiety for me haha). I'm excited about the prospect of a new adventure but I also have so many questions, unknowns, anxieties, concerns etc...It makes my head spin😂. Will we make friends, will we find the right house, will we regret it, will we love it and on and on....Thank you so much for always being real and honest❤️. Hoping to be down there Spring or Summer of next year. 😊
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching! It is 100% normal to have anxiety before a long distance move! Especially if you come from a close family. That has by far been the hardest part for us.
I can completely relate to this video, especially on the family part. I'm so used to living my entire life surrounded with my family and then one day poof! I'm here in Oregon and with no family at all. And the pandemic hit, and I could not visit them just yet. It definitely changed all the plans I had in the making for a visit. And now my husband and I intend to finally restart our life somewhere else and we both chose Florida. Currently doing our non stop research about the state. If anything I think there's just so much more pros than cons for us living there and living here in Oregon just doesn't.... work. Every single day it always felt like we never belonged here.
Thanks for the awesome video, that was very honest and straightforward and as someone who is already relocated moved and is waiting to go back again I can tell you that I had many of the same experiences especially surrounding the schools. Keep up the good work
Going to Fl for the first time family of 5 here 🙋🏻♀️ we are doing a road trip from NJ. 😎 hopping to move soon. Love your videos and learning a lot from them. 🤗
@@lillians.4384 Please leave your BLUE LIBERAL votes back in NJ. Florida is only good because it is a RED state. I am from NJ as well. Don't come down here and f*ck it up for everyone. I am dead serious.
If you do move here DON'T VOTE BLUE. I am also from NJ, don't come here with that awful liberal mind set and mess it up for everyone. Florida is only good because it is a RED state. All that liberal bullsh*t is NOT welcome here.
Your comment on diversity is very interesting. I just take it for granted because it’s always been a part of my life and especially my Children’s. I can tell you it’s been an advantage in business and making social connections. Your Children will have the same advantages.
Thank you for your honesty! Guys, you are so awesome!!! No matter, if the traffic is bad, schools should be looked through, bugs everywhere, insurance is high, I still want to come down there and see it for our family if we can live there. And I think, it will be a great! I am very reluctant to leave my sister and my nephews 💔 back in our state, but we have my husband's relatives here. I just hope we will visit them.
That is why I go to Orlando Health physicians. They do almost everything within their facility. With the exception of x-rays and cat scans. Try finding one near you since you're in Central Florida. That might be the best way to go. A belated Merry Christmas from Kissimmee Floirida.👍😊
Just happened across this video when talking about moving to my dad's place who lives in Florida. Being from Kansas, I understand the weather will take time to adjust. I'm just more worried about jobs and getting enough saved up for a move. It won't be cheap that's for sure.
my son has ADHD and I had to advocate for him, what seemed like nonstop from 1st grade through high school until he finally just got his GED. It's exhausting, so I totally understand. These struggles are from the schools in Lane County Oregon. The healthcare system sounds like the one in Eugene/Springfield, Oregon. It's ridiculous........ guess the insurance companies found a way to get every last dollar out of people. it's sickening, in my opinion.
Thinking about moving from Portland Oregon to Florida. From a conservative area in Oregon and came to Portland 2013 for opportunity but quickly losing hope. Florida seems like a slice of heaven and idc about the heat, Portland hit 119 this summer with humidity and was 15 degrees 4 months earlier.
great video! , moving to Port Charlotte from Maryland in October. Being able to be outside year around is a big reason for our move. Also if you are going to have a pool or a boat , you can use them year around which makes more sense if you have to finance those things.
You two are amazing and remind me of my two closest friends that are from Wisconsin, not just with the accents! Values as well. They moved from Wisconsin to Cali for the exact reasons you talk about. My husband and I also love the beach, outdoor activities, and diversity and are looking to choose a longterm place to call home and florida has been at the top of the list. We also don't mind the heat being that we met each other in Vietnam! Thank you! and maybe we'll see you in the future! such a good detailed video filled with reflection
Thank you so much! People from Wisconsin make great friends! Lol We are so glad that you find our videos helpful, and hope to hear from you more here on this channel in the future!
Thank you for another great video! My husband and I are super excited about moving to Florida but I'm so glad you touched on the healthcare. We currently live in Iowa but I doctor at the Mayo clinic in Minnesota for my brain tumor. Iam curious how hard is it to get a family doctor than referred to a neurologist and neurosurgeon? Definitely gives me some anxiety but I want to be near beaches and enjoy life!!!! By the way....kona beer is very good 👍
I did enjoy the Kona! All gone now though! It should not be an issue getting a referral from a family doctor, especially with your condition. Maybe your neurologist where you’re at could even give you a referral to somewhere down here?
I thank you for your content. I plan on moving to Florida this summer to Miami. I just found you guys on you tube. Your videos have been very helpful. God blues your whole family.
We moved to Central Florida eight years ago and it’s the best decision we ever made. There is always so much to do. The weather is beautiful. There’s always a pool or some body of water to cool off in during the summer. The winter is beautiful! We do not have alligators chasing after us. In fact, we can count on two hands the number of times we’ve seen one. From a distance. In a random pond off the highway, etc. The exterminator does a great job of getting rid of bugs, believe it or not. We chose to homeschool our kids and took a lot of flack from family and friends giving us their opinion of homeschool. Well guess what, they are now 20 and are wonderful and smart people. One thing I do HATE are some of the drivers! They are rude and do not follow rules. They speed and drag race. I’m not going to lie about that! Since the pandemic, the sheriffs do not stop many cars so they get away with a lot. Hopefully that will change.
Just moved to the east coast of Florida from northeast Ohio about a month ago. I wanted to move somewhere warmer for years (FL, TX, SC, AZ, anywhere sunny and warm) and I’m loving my choice!
We moved from our dream house in Denver to Florida be with the grand babies. Huge adjustment downsizing and all the factors!!!! BUT, LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE AND THE MEMORIES & SEEDS SOWN ARE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN! BOTTOM LINE: TAKE CARE NOT TO SACRIFICE THE BETTER & BEST THINGS IN LIFE FOR THE GOOD.
@@FloridaWithFive Oh my God thank you so much for this info! Honestly the idea of moving stresses me out so much to the point where I could just cry, but I know it’s going to be for the best
I love Florida. I live in Atlanta and absolutely hate it because it lacks culture and beaches. I think we will be selling in the near future and moving down to our neighboring state.
Another great video! It was really interesting about how healthcare works in FL. That is my biggest concern with moving there. I am 5 minutes away from the hospital and all the labs and doctors offices are within 10 minutes from my house, 20 minutes at the most. FL is going to be an eye opener but I’m still excited to make the move
There are plenty places in Florida with doctors, labs, etc. are all within minutes of where you could live. In this video, we are simply referring to our current situation. With planning and research, you should have no issue finding everything right near where you want to live!
I live in Canada and we’ve been thinking about moving to Florida, and the cost of healthcare seriously scares me. I’m just starting to look into it now; I have fibromyalgia and problems with my back.
I love your videos. You're great people and look so cute as couple. Thanks for what you said about diversity. I'm part of that and We need more people in this world like you. ♥️
You ain't kidding. That's why I now live in San Diego, I lived over 35 years in Miami, and could never get used to the humidity. I just go back once a year to visit family and friends.

You are so welcome Carol!! Good luck to you guys, we hope Florida is everything you imagine it to be! Make sure to keep us updated!
I absolutely love how real Lindsey was in this video! Awesome advice. Great job you guys! Another great video 👏😊
Thank you Emily!
She gives the wrong advice! She should advise ALL northerners, stay up north!!
We don't want them to come!! Treat Florida right!, don't turn it into a pos like you came from!!
Then go back to WI!!
We moved to the west coast in June.. absolutely loving it
What state
I am Latino american citizen relocating to Kissimmee from Costa Rica... that is great that you guys are so humble and smart about opening to diversity. That makes you guys awesome people!!
Diverse doesn't mean they're not racist. It's called "Casual Racism", where you hear the N word thrown about daily in casual conversations.
There are hundreds of videos about being in and or moving to Florida. The realness and experiences you share of your journey makes This video. The Best of all, on moving to Florida videos. Keep doing what you do. Thank You !
Thank you so much....that truly means so much to us!
florida is a great place to live. I am here in palmbeach and treasure coast for 11 years
Great video! I agree as a Rhode Islander who is super close to my family and moved across country to San Francisco and now moving back across country to West Palm Beach, to make relocations work.. you have to “burn your ships” and get over the fact that the new state IS your home. Your original state is your hometown but there’s a difference.
Moving to Davenport in a few weeks from Virginia, and I’ve enjoyed your videos and perspective. Awesome that you keep it real! Thanks guys! 😁
William,
Thank you so much for your kind and well-thought comment. We truly appreciate you! ❤️
I lived in S. FL for 10 years and mannnn... definitely difficult.
Where do u live now what was difficult
You guys seem like a very nice and genuine couple. I wish you all the best!
I moved to Florida about 9 months ago. Missing family at this time like you guys said around the 8 month period. It definitely has been a rollercoaster to say the least lol. Thanks for these videos, it really helps when you’re trying to remain positive and create a new positive beginning for yourself 🙏
Concentrate on making friends. Join groups. Volunteer.
Found people in fl so much friendlier. Easy to make friends.
It is shocking how you two are just like my wife and I. Health insurance was our biggest challenge here at the beginning. It is so different from up north. Makes me want to do a video like this.
Visiting and living in Florida are two completely different experiences. Just remember that. Every place has its ups and downs. No place is perfect.
It's perfect of you got your money right
@@torpedoLaw I'm from the midwest and and been living in Florida since 2005 and let me tell you quality of life has gone downhill. Don't let the no state tax fool you! Whatever you ain't paying in taxes you gonna be paying in tolls, insurance, HOA fees and CDD fees. Florida isn't the relaxing cheap state with good weather it used to be.
@@joedavenport5293 People I know being telling me that and too many people moving in.
Great video you two. So glad you have pushed through the hard days. Its only going to get better and better😊
Thank you Jill!
We are hoping to move few months from now fr WI! Thanks for sharing! We are hoping to find a good mover for things & cars...🙏🙏🙏
That's a great and genuine run down guys. Thanks for sharing your experience and best of luck with the future
Thanks you for all the information, and talk about all culture and especially the Latino Comunity so respectful and kind . Gracias .
We need more people like you . Love to see you together. I believe you are a amazing Parents. 🧡
We will be there in 2 weeks!!!!! We are so excited!!!!! Cant wait to go away of this snow in NJ.
We just moved here in October and my adult boys still live back home and I’m really going through that pain of missing them , it is debilitating. I’m still adjusting to being here , but I know it takes time . I’m going home in a couple weeks to see them . Thanks for your videos!!
The trip home should help with that...but know that our feelings are completely normal! We miss family a lot still as well...
From Michigan both and raised I live here now AND LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 years in I agree about the schools
Thank you so much guys!!!
You guys are going to be at 10,000 subs in no time! Great work!
Love how transparent you are!
We moved to Florida in 2014 from up north and definitely the healthcare and the schools are so different it is quite frustrating but you’re right the weathers awesome
Thank you for sharing! Saying you going to fail is another way to say "I will miss you"
I also will be relocating next year!
@@FloridaWithFive Just have to adapt and overcome right haha. ❤️
You live once, just do it like Nike said, sometimes change is good, you will never how what you'll find just do it!!
Keep up the good work
Thanks so much Nancy! It's good to know we're not alone in feeling this way sometimes!
Going to Fl for the first time family of 5 here 🙋🏻♀️ we are doing a road trip from NJ. 😎 hopping to move soon. Love your videos and learning a lot from them. 🤗
Thank you! And have a great time!!!
Omg!! I just from Jersey to Florida 3 weeks ago!!
Such a great description of relocating! Great video!
So glad I found your channel!! LOVE your videos. Planning to move from LA to Orlando area
Thank you Miguel! Welcome to our family! :)
Great video, guys. Lindsay, doesn’t matter where you go, you’ll always miss your family, not only in Florida.
my son has ADHD and I had to advocate for him, what seemed like nonstop from 1st grade through high school until he finally just got his GED.
My husband and I really want to move, but we’re afraid that our daughter who is 10 will be so upset! Any tips?
Come to florida It perfect going to love It
You daughter would love it that she can visit Disney and Universal frequently
It would be such a cute video if you both reviewed & reacted to your own video & count how many times you say the word "guys." 💙
great video! , moving to Port Charlotte from Maryland in October. Being able to be outside year around is a big reason for our move. Also if you are going to have a pool or a boat , you can use them year around which makes more sense if you have to finance those things.
We also live in Davenport. We have Florida Blue PPO Insurance. We love it. Look into it, you might like it too.
Lol
We are so glad that you find our videos helpful, and hope to hear from you more here on this channel in the future!
There is a Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville
I thank you for your content. I plan on moving to Florida this summer to Miami. I just found you guys on you tube. Your videos have been very helpful. God blues your whole family.
Yhankyou im moving to naples because of these ------ mask i can work there w out a mask so im excited im single mom w 2 teenagers
Where did u move from, may I ask?
Just moved to the east coast of Florida from northeast Ohio about a month ago. I wanted to move somewhere warmer for years (FL, TX, SC, AZ, anywhere sunny and warm) and I’m loving my choice!
You made a good choice!
Very well said!
Good, honest video. Not easy coming here from Wisconsin.
Florida is great place for parents to raise their child . It is also a great place for businesses
Happy Anniversary, guys!
Are there alligators on those hikes?🐊🤔
I was wondering this.
Been in Florida for 51 years. Getting in practice being an "old timer."
How do you fair with the sun? I’m so afraid of moving down there and having constant sun burns.
Do you guys have any issues with the sun? Do you get sun damaged easily?
That insurance situation is crazy!!!!
Great perspective!
Thank you for recognizing the value of diversity!
Yes! Loved that section of the video! Very real and important
Another great video!
Scott from Kentucky!
Thank you for your honest expressions of your experiences. It's beginning to sound like California with humidity. 😳
Lots of good information and advice. Thanks guys!
As always, you’re welcome Carol! 😊
My family and I are starting to save and prepare to move next yr. We want to be outside hiking too all yr long
This helps me a lot. I'm wanting to move there so much.
How is the Wi-Fi? My husband and I both work from home and we need to have really good reception
Very good. We live stream from our house and have never had issues
@@FloridaWithFive Oh my God thank you so much for this info! Honestly the idea of moving stresses me out so much to the point where I could just cry, but I know it’s going to be for the best
@@FloridaWithFive awesome! Do you recommend a service provider and is there any you don’t recommend?
Waw so intresting, thank you 😀😀😀
I live in Canada and we’ve been thinking about moving to Florida, and the cost of healthcare seriously scares me. I’m just starting to look into it now; I have fibromyalgia and problems with my back.
Glad u r doing these videos, but what do u do support your family? I know it’s not cheap living there.
I love your videos. You're great people and look so cute as couple. Thanks for what you said about diversity. I'm part of that and We need more people in this world like you. ♥️
Thanks so much, Cary!
You did not mention the humidity of Florida, off the charts
You ain't kidding. That's why I now live in San Diego, I lived over 35 years in Miami, and could never get used to the humidity. I just go back once a year to visit family and friends.
Dew point true measure of water in the air. Escaped from Ft Myers after 17 years. 10 months of that weather! Ugh
@@donnasanti8336 I'm curious Donna as I am looking at different areas for a better climate (WI), where did you decide on for weather you liked without the humidity.
@@debrajean740 o returned back to MI. Not happy with winter but family is here, better healthcare, and humidity in the north is nothing like the oppressive dew point 7 months out of the year in FL. Had a house in FT Myers for 17 years.
How do you deal with the bugs?
