    Truer words never spoken! I remember when I told my family we were moving away, at first, they were all trying to talk me out of it, pointing out the negatives rather than the positives. This is normal because your family is worried you're making a mistake, in addition to being heartbroken that you are leaving. But in time they come to see that you made the right decision for you and your family and they respect and understand. They also visit more and spend quality time during vacations. What you said about remembering the "big picture" reasons you moved in the first place is vital to reassuring your move was the right decision. It's easy to second guess and we don't have a crystal ball, but when you know, you know. Great vlog guys!

      I found the more involved I was in community and church the more friendlier people were.I found it difficult in some smaller areas because they tend to be friends with people they went to school with and or knew for a long time

    I never had the problem of leaving loved ones, "friends", ect. I left so much toxicity behind so my first month in FL was so damn easy.

    When I did it I felt strange. Missed my good friends and small family I had back home. It took me about a year to feel normal in Florida. I to said if I don't do it I'll regret it. I did leave Tampa and went back to NYC after 5 years. Now I'm planning to move back to Florida. I even bought a townhome there..just waiting till end of the year. I thankfully have family and friends there as well. But still apprehensive about it.

    I moved my family to FL about 6 months ago. I’ve been watching your videos off and on before and after our move. They have been very helpful, thank you. I think this video addresses our single most hurdle the best which was/is the homesickness. It is real and just like you said it seems to get better around the 6 month mark. We didn’t leave a lot of family like you and even have some here, but it’s also the overall connection you have with home that you miss. There are so many things about NY that we were happy to leave but you still miss home. I’ll second what Lindsay said, everything will fall into place. Just push on and don’t give up. Give it at least a year. We have a five year old and he loves it the most. Oh, and in that 6 months we have had more visitors than we ever had before. You’ll never stop washing sheets!

    Love the glasses :) . The first 6 months is definitely the hardest, but over time everything gets better.

    Thank you so much for your thoughts and advice. Me and my wife felt the same way 35 years ago when we had to leave Poland because Poland back then was run by a communist government so we came to the US as political refugees. When we were leaving Poland we thought that we will never see our families again. It was very hard for us as well. Now I am 60 and my wife is ... 😀 and we are planing to move to Panama City Beach this year so we love to listen to your experiences and advice for people like us. You guys have a great family, God bless. 😘

    I think I’m going to feel this way too. It’s not going to be really missing family it’s more or less going to be missing my boys I have one that will be entering college this year and my oldest becoming a rn this year that don’t want to move but I just keep telling myself they will be here to visit me and I’ll be back to visit them as well. I’m happy just knowing that they are grown and don’t really need my underneath them anymore I do have a little in who is only five and it needs to be a fresh beginning for him now and Florida is where I want to be. Stop the glasses look cute lol. Yes you have to go for it if it doesn’t work it didn’t work but at least you tried.

    How do you deal with putting an emergency contact on school forms when you do not have any family or friends near? Having an emergency and needing a family member or good friend is a fear.

    In the beginning stages of transitioning to Florida. My issue with anxieties is what location and having limited time to find a place due to the pandemic. Hard to travel, stay in a hotel and look at homes. The best I can do is find a location then do as much as we can virtually then going there for a couple of days to narrow it down and finalize. Any advice you can give. We are retired so school system is not a big concern. We do not want 55plus since we are only 52 and retired.

    • @FloridaWithFive
      @FloridaWithFive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We really love the centralized location of central Florida.
      I always tell people that if your budget allows you to do it, stay in a short term rental like an Airbnb for a month or two while you are looking at homes. That way you get a good feel for the area and are not rushed into a decision.

    Thank you millions for this video. If I may, I would like to tell you two of my biggest apprehension. 1. It terrifies me that my wife doesn’t and cannot drive due to seizure disorder and depends on me to get her everywhere. I don’t wanna go broke having to pay for Uber. 2. I am terrified of trying and it doesn’t work out but we don’t have the money to make the move back and now we’re stuck and miserable. I’m probably waaaay over thinking this but we can’t help how we feel right?

    • @phillyhank8726
      @phillyhank8726 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Florida With Five : Well it’s not completely off the table, I have thought about. I’m a “whatever needs to be done” type of person, you kno what I mean? The wife, eeeeeh “not so muchaaa” 😊. I kno she’s that “don’t wanna be alone at night” wife and I get it...(sigh) but idk what to do🤦🏽‍♂️😊. I’ve been toying with the idea of swapping over to the clermont PD so maybe it’ll turn out that way regardless.
