After seeing Mailloux start, I want to see him improve a bit before we move him. He has a higher ceiling as it stands than Struble and Barron because we just havent seen him enough. If the asks is Barron + 1st, i think we do it. If its struble + 1st, lets do it. If its Mailloux + 2nd, probably do that too. Our defense will sort itself out, but we need to take some risks at acquiring top end forward talent.

Zegras was the guy for awhile but Carlsson has definitely supplanted him as the player they are building around. A lot of Ducks fans seem to want to hang onto him but he really doesn't fit in the team Verbeek is trying to build, like what was touched on in the video, and he kinda feels like the odd man out. Zegas hasn't looked the same since breaking his ankle last season and maybe he just needs a change of scenery at this point.
They need some second line help badly. I would offer Dvorak and Calgary 1st rd pick. Put zegraa as second line center and in 1 month or so laine come back and you could have a second line of dach and and laine on the wing and zebras as center

Scoring more or equal to the opposition's 2nd line doesn't work if you can't defend against that line's offence. Your example clearly implies defense on behalf of the forwards to minimize how many goals the oppo's line gets. It's not JUST about scoring.

He certainly has learned to play better defense, so one could say he is on the road to being a complete two way, and having everything fall into place may take a little while longer. Put Zegras on a team where they won't suppress his natural skills along with his newfound two way play and he can still be something special. That said, Verbeek isn't into bargains. Zergas may not command a top end prospects and a couple first round draft picks, but he still won't go cheap. Personably I like Cronin, but his approach with this team, especially the young players simply isn't working. I certainly wouldn't put all of it on Zergas. I was hoping it would be this year, but the kid has 70 point seasons written all over him. It just may not be with Anaheim which is too bad.

Mailloux will be one of our top D, he’s a stud. He’s a top 2 D man all day long within 3 yrs

This trade would be good if we can trade someone like Anderson or Dvorak for him. Other than that I would not trade many prospects for him.
Right now Anderson is playing very well on the 3rd line with Gally and Jake. I don't think KH would deal him now.

If we assume that Hughes really tried to trade for Zegras, then I would trust him to underpay.
