It is insane that you have to take out the motherboard to replace the battery in a laptop

One note on my MacBook Air (yes, this model A1932), instead of using the T4 for the 5 motherboard screws and the big one in the middle of the motherboard near the touchpad connector I absolutely had to use the T5 instead of the T4. I noticed just in time before completely wearing out the screw. The T5 fitted perfectly. I used a new set of tools.

Very clear tutorial. Will note that although this is intended for the MacBook Air, the actual video appears to be the process on a MacBook Pro. There are some differences on the inside. Will also suggest that although this appears to be quite do-able by ordinary but careful do-it-yourselfers, I highly suggest that if you are not a computer tech, take your valuable MacBook to a professional. I have replaced the battery on an older MacBook Air, so I thought I could do this one. I opened up the back and got to the part where I was removing the speakers, when I realized I would probably trash my laptop. This project takes finesse and experience. I took mine to a pro, and am crossing my fingers that I didn't damage something.

We agree the video is for a walk-through in case you feel comfortable with doing it yourself but we do recommend professional installation if you are not sure about your ability to perform the upgrade.

Great tutorial. I have a question: why do we need to disable autoboot before the procedure?

We don't want the Mac to automatically boot while we are working to take the battery out. Mac's with this feature can turn on with keys pressed, with AutoBoot disabled…we can more safely perform the procedure as well as better care for our Mac.

i have problems. When the computer is reopened, it does not see the battery. In the upper right corner appears the battery symbol with an X above it. SMC and NVRAM reset do not help. What else could I do?
