I've mentioned this in the comments in their video that I used to live in the town his daughter lived. She married an ambassador to Australia named William Crook. When she married him, her name became Eleanor Butt Crook. I didn't know her & their kids were older than me, but they are a very good family & have given a LOT back in charities, etc. Their brand foods are good & they have good prices on most stuff. They have stores in Mexico too.

Blue Bell is a big thing in Texas. About 30 years ago one of my childhood friends, still friends today, moved to Vegas after college and everytime anyone went to visit were asked to bring ice chest of Blue Bell for him and neighbors he got hooked on. I love Blue Bell coffee flavored 😊 !!!! HEB makes lots of stuff fresh in house like tortilla chips, guacamole, sushi, floured and corn tortillas. I'm half Japanese, mom (100% ) and we eat HEB sushi all the time.

Howdy from Texas! I've shopped at H.E.B. my entire life. Not exclusively mind you. I do shop at other grocery stores now and then. But H.E.B. has been around since before I was even born. My mother actually worked at one during the sixties. And many years later my wife worked at one during the early two thousands.
I really love their store brands because they are always a bit cheaper than the name brands. But also because all too often, they taste even better than the name brands. Which is very uncommon for any grocery store's branded products.

    I always thought H•E•B stood for: Here • Everything's • Better 😂
I wish we had an H•E•B in my city it's supposedly America's favorite grocery store. You know when the store brands are as good or better than the name brands then it's a really good store & you can save money buying the store brands. I love watching both you & James & Josh & Ollie seeing all the varieties of items & seeing how excited you get over cupcake goldfish & anything else. Realizing how lucky we are but we grew up with it all & don't know any other way. When I lived in Okinawa Japan for 4 years we had the military commissary (grocery stores) we could get most foods we love plus some local groceries. I remember going into Japanese stores & seeing all the strange & different foods we wanted to buy & try. Both of you are so funny & entertaining & Archie is so adorable & growing so fast. 💜🙏

    Millie,
I am sure you remember that in the stores over here, ok, the non small stores, we have 20 to 30 or more flavors of cookies, and each flavor has several brands. This means that you can find cookies to suite your tastes… likely.
Yes, there is a difference between fresh baked and packaged cookies, but you can find ones that are packaged that come close to the fresh baked ones at most places. But when you go to the right bakeries, you can’t beat their fresh baked cookies. I so totally agree.

Traditionally, in Europe, you go food shopping two or three times a week. Perhaps because you have smaller freezer/refrigerators or you prefer you fresh foods to be fresher. I go food shopping once a week and sometimes not even then. So, we buy more at one time. The trolley/carts are larger. And we tend to be larger people. Food stores have the smallest profit margins in all of retail, mostly because there are actually too many of them. Several of the major chains have been closing their stores that are underperforming compared to other stores in the chain. This is just econ 101. The rise of Walmart, HEB, Costco, Amazon is in fact more pressure to identify and close the lowest profit/cost stores. But what do the growth stores offer? Good old fashion DEPARTMENT stores of the past. One stop shopping. Again, Europeans have a long tradition of going to the butcher shops to buy meat, pastry shops to buy pastries, etc. We don't, Why? Because in no small part, frozen items are going to turn to soup by the time we get home.

HEB is only in central Texas, I think the eastern most locations are around Houston, northern most around Dallas, and most others are in the Austin / San Antonio areas. As a side note Blue Bell Ice Cream started in Brenham, Texas (about half way between Houston, and Austin), expanded outside of Texas around 1980, and is now sold in about 30 states, for a long time their slogan was "We eat all we can, then we sell the rest". They have a visitor center with an ice cream parlor in Brenham, where you can watch the factory from from an observation window, and get ice cream for $1 per scoop, they will typically have a dozen or so flavor 3 or 4 of which are trail flavors not yet available in stores. p.s. on a couple of trivia notes, Blue Bell is also the only ice cream ever served in space, and Blue Bell sent special weekly deliveries to the White House when George Bush was president as at the time Blue Bell Ice Cream was not available in Washington DC

More than that, though, HEB takes being part of the community seriously. The company sends huge portable kitchens to areas hit by storms, flooding, etc. And when the electric grid failed and shut down an HEB, and its registers, they told all those in the store to go ahead and bag up what they had and take it, no charge.

I feel like, if anything deserves strikes from youtube, it's reacting to another reactor's reaction video.

I like your videos, but you should edit in a close up of the food you're trying out for the first time. A clear visual of what you're eating makes the video a lot more interesting than just watching you eat it.

Texas having their own power grid is stupid.

    • @natattack_95
      @natattack_95 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

It’s not. We’re the biggest state and our population keeps increasing annually. We NEED our own source for our hot summers. The only down side, big freezes, which aren’t common but went to shit during the great freeze a few years ago.

that's why it's stupid because of what happened a few years ago with the deep freze.

Why, pray tell, would one want to be subject to regulation by the feds? Masochism or even more of a sillyass green than Texas regulators?

Yep which is why California's power grid is top notch.
