Thanks for taking the time to explain this while you were installing this stuff! It's one thing to tell someone how to do something, but it's even better to see a visual of the process. Really appreciate your time Dex.
Lol, it coulda been for clicks or likes . . Or just another opportunity to hear a southern accent explain what's wrong with this/yer Jeep. If I sound bitter, it's only because I'm jealous of his parts yard
No exaggeration, thats exactly what happens. Mismatched steering angles induce an unbalanced, often cyclical, force, without enough damping, it'll hit resonance and wobble ya to death. By the books, I'm an engineer, but im the dumbest smart guy I know, and appreciate your Jeeps work/projects. I'm all AMC Jeep, even have an Eagle SX4
I have a BK Fabworks 1 ton steering kit on my JK Rubicon. It was the most affordable kit on the market… and with a no questions asked warranty. That had me sold for sure so I told a friend of mine who also has a JK and he pulled the trigger. All of the same purchase. Easy to install and a great product all the way around..
My 82 hilux with 3" suspension lift had a death wobble while stopping. Everything was tight. Finally took the sway bar off and it fixed the problem. Drives perfect now.
Just put one on last week. Haven’t gotten to try it out yet. Also put on their frames stiffeners, and made it a little difficult mounting the upper bracket, love the videos
after chasing the wobble myself i found the frame rails flex as the next failure point. but this over the axle would reduce the leverage wrenching the rail back and fourth under heavy tires the unibody was never made to deal with. the mass is not there to hold it. so 50 mph is the top cruise speed for a woodser. if you want a highway cruiser get a grand and leave it alone!
I saw your problem instantly when I saw your pinion angle. Your front diff is so rotated from your lift that you have no positive caster. Your upper ball joint needs to be behind the lower. Yours is right above it or in front. So your front wheels have death wobble like shopping cart front wheels.
Hey those welds look pretty good actually. The one thing I personally don't like is the 1/2" of threads holding that heim into the track bar--the skinny tapered part at that. I think you want at least an inch of threads, preferably more. The other thing I'd suggest doing is tack welding your lock nuts after it's all dialed in.
So I've been constantly plagued by excessive rattling and bump steer, no death wobble yet. But I've literally replaced every ball joint, tie Rod, CV, wheel bearing, control arm, control arm bushing, every bushing for that matter, and even welded fender washers for additional material to bolt to. Still shakes and rattles and bump steers
Change the angel on the diff so top king pin is back to the firer wall and the bottom is more to bumper .....you know so it's not like a shopping cart front wheel doing death wobble...🤔
Differential bushings good ? For upper links. Fixed my problem after I replaced ever dang Thang 😂 first wish I would of replaced them dudes off the rip..first 😢
I've lifted my xj 6 1/4 inches doing over knuckle steering, with over axle track bar, should I leave pitman arm or what drop? Of course I'll find out once installed. But wanting to save time
My '98 XJ has death wobble, i had to park it until I could figure it out, I've changed a bunch of stuff but i think O'Reilly's sold me the incorrect Trac bar
I’ll tell you what the funnest vehicle I had was a piece of shit 96 GC. It would death wobble all the time on back roads. It was fun because looking back I just never knew what the hell was gonna go wrong next and kept me and my buddies on our toes. A nice vehicle is just boring and you feel bad when you mess it up
@@dexjs what are the pros and cons? grand cherokee axles have cv stock and i ask because i have both styles one with u joint and one with cv and am wondering which one you think is better
@@AA-tb4ffif I remember correctly. He said that if you break a cv axle, you can keep driving the rest of the day. But if you break a ujoint in the axleshaft, the ears can start to overlap and when they stack on top of each other they can push the ball joints out or break them. And the cost of replacing a cv axleshaft if not much more than a ujoint, but if you break a ujoint, you typically end up breaking axle shafts and have to buy new axle shaft too But I feel like the cv is not quite as strong, but less risk, amd cheaper to fix
There really is no reason to run high-clearance bars. - The tie rod is a pain in the ass to set toe. - The drag link is a pain in the ass to set your steering wheel. - The drag link sags from weight and increases the angle difference between track and drag, thereby increasing bump steer to some degree. Just cut your sway bar mounts off and run straight bars. Straight bars also let you get that perfect adjustment.

Tight joints, good alignment and parallel track bar and drag link.
That upstairs rc cave is freaking awesome

You ever see Watts links...its a neat suspension linkage.
Happy holidays and thanks for the lesion!!
Happy holidays!
This is an amazing video!!! Dead on explanation with the RC model. Wow, thank you!!!!
I have a bk fab track bar on my 2ndgen Cummins man what a difference. Keep up the good vids
love bk fab it’s local af to me only about 10 min from the house
Thank you for this video and thank you for taking the time

Best cure I found is get it aligned then adjust tie rod so both front wheels point slightly away from each other.cures it everytime.
Yep. I ain’t explained that one yet.
Toe out?

Bk fab is local shop to me. They build some of the best jeep parts I’ve ever ran and damn good prices

Yes, this is also the main factor in "wandering steering". Excellent point
Excellent video good teaching lesson for some new to wheeling
Glad you enjoyed it
Got a bk track bar for my old 2 door. Guy was super cool, great products also got a hoodie 👍🏼👍🏼 merry Christmas from north al

Hey man I just saw you on home alone! Merry Christmas sticky bandit!
Crazy how you replace a used part and now it death wobbles my Jeep did the same thing after I changed the stock trac bar
Great Vidja Dex...Merry Xmas.
you said not relevant to the video about the paint part but I was really wondering how you painted it like that. That answered my question lol

Any issues with the shirt heim bolt? It looks short, like its gonna break short.
What leaf springs did you use for 10 inchs of lift?
How do we buy parts from u
What do y ok u need ? I am Illinois there few xj in junkyards by me. Gonna go get few parts
We spent a ton of money replacing suspension components and it turned out to be a bubble in a new defective tire that you couldn't even see.

What paint did you use on the WJ steering?
You should consider posting some RC content.
I want to do a tour and see how that goes. Bunch of them 😬
@@dexjs that sounds cool, I will definitely watch if you make it.
What color blue is on your axle? Really like that color!
Never mind. Lol
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this will only work if you have a lift?
Do you have any 6in lift kits for 97 jeep grand cherokee lerado
Does the trackbar length matter? It looks short compared to the drag link
Technically yes. Same length is ideal but gets into custom stuff.
@@dexjs thanks 😘
I've been told not to leave axle iin housing when weldiing

I personally do but they both have pros and cons.
