As long as it's got good injectors that are flowing more than original ones it shouldn't have a problem. Years ago, a trick was ordering a set of 5.0 Mustang injectors for larger fuel shot. . . This was before the internet got as big for info.
What about this incredibly basic motor makes u think it needs all that? It isnt FI, it isn't high compression, it's just a stock rebuild within upgraded top end pretty much. Just a 5.0 rebuild and not a 4.0.
I have an old '93 that I'm doing up and restoring a bit. Family Jeep, grandparents owned it, and I pretty much grew up in the back of that thing. I put the Eldebrock (port matched) head on it, installed some roller rockers, and plan on saving up for Newcomer to work his magic on it. HOWEVER... this 5.0 build is intriguing... I'd be interested to see how it holds up.
@thunderzap2 How'd I justify it? Barely. I went to have my original head machined, and ported, but they found a bad crack. Mainly, I have big plans for this jeep. It has tons of sentimental value. I installed roller rockers, got rid of the mechanical fan and installed an E-fan setup, and installed a Gibson exhaust all at once, so I can't say how much the head alone affected things. All that being done, you can definitely "feel it in the seat" a bit more, but it doesn't blow your socks off. If I didn't have big plans, I wouldn't have bought that head for any old 4.0 as a straight replacement.

Matt at Matt's off-road recovery ended up having to put louvers in his hood to help keep his engine cooler after putting a built I-6 in his XJ.🤷 But the wild thing is. I have a 2004 built to pretty much the same specs as yours. (I love people's reaction when I let them drive it! And they freaking TRIP! when they hit the gas! I know its a bit late to say but after learning something new from the AMXJ channel i quickly learned and understood (cause ive had problems with this) that cylinders 5&6 have very poor flow so to help with that, a bung on the freeze plug thats on the head and the last one on the block receiving coolant from the lower coolant hose/out the pump I'll definitely try that on my personal engine build i have coming up, So far my Daily driven LJ has a 10 Percent OD waterpump pulley and she's pretty happy even in the Texas heat too :D
I installed a similar transmission cooler under the drivers side under the front seat. Had to fab a frame and Rock or gravel guard . I used a 12 volt 9x9 fan and now during cold weather have disconnected the fan but will install a switch rather then plugging it back end when the weather warms up again. Had the same issue with the air intake. but plan to build or fab a cowl filter . I removed the plate but there is still too much war air in the engine area need to get cool air to the intake.
Speaking of keeping a 4.0 cool. My wj. I put a ranger clutch fan in it, took the electric out, 160 thermostat but drilled a hole it it. It never goes above 170 now. I should maybe make a short about it.
From what I understand, it’s not good to run “cool” all the time The higher heat apparently helps burn off some impurities or whatever during operation of the system

hey dex. could you make a video of the easiest way to get the 3 torn bolts on top of Trans. my only complaint with these 4.0s! show a better way to get them out without taking transmission completely out
Great work! Thank you. I thought you showed where you can remove the gasket from a pressure cap and that shoots the fluid into the overflow bottle, then lets it suck back into the engine?
My '96 Cherokee closed off. Also I only noticed it when I remove the header panel and replace the radiator in the AC condenser and the header panel cuz it was cracked after it was stolen. I bought it for my daughter. She gave it back to me and then they stole it while it was parked and drove it. Recovered still and got a call from the police saying they had recovered it after it was gone for a month. I asked him if it was wrecked they said no it was running and the perp was asleep in the front seat. I asked them if they would turn it off and pound it for me and that I would come and get it after I renewed the license plate so I can give her all the police impound. I picked it up. They cut the cat off tore out. The overhead council painted my stock wheels and hubcaps and I just finally got all of them back replaced for my daughter. It was in great shape. I put some wheel bearings in the rear and did the rear brakes put some new drums on it. Parked it out front. They stole it again. Got it back. No, no cat again. The right front rocker right behind the wheel and fender they crushed they must have been. I don't know driving over. What have you? It was black. I painted it rattle can camouflage and change your name to Cami I told her they can't see you. They can't steal you

So have you found a way to get an adjustable fuel regulator on these fuel rails ? I thought about seeing if a 87-93 fox body bbk regular would fit the fuel rail and build my own mounting bracket
I believe it was derale but one of those aftermarket companies made a like transmission cooler it may be the engine oil cooler but it is a idea to look into because you could basically mount it in a frame rail or the bottom of the core support for example

Dex what do you do about the old R12 AC units? Do you still use them or just chuck them in the trash? (I've seen your air compressor video, but wondering more about using them as AC again)
Reuse them for 134a or whatever they are using now, you can get the conversion kit at O’Reillys to change your R12 fittings over to 134a, but remember to only fill the 134a to 80% of the R12 capacity. I did this over 10 years ago to my 91 XJ and it works great to this day in 100+ degree temps.
Well more peace of mind for me my stroker and same afr it's very close to this video mines a 93 and stock ECU I would like to figure out why it won't go past 4200rpm but it will still run 80mph and make it 3 miles to local gas station for more 93 octane been reading and watching videos but nothing has helped the limited rpms, micro squirt and standalone harness in the future when funds allow just some easy break-in miles around the block until then
Shit man could ya help me figure out why electrical issues lol was fuckin with the radio one day and then the next day I had no blinkers or whippers but still got high beams and hazzards and the rear whiper works lol nothing has worked that I’ve tried
My xj with a 4.7l stroker will drift on dry pavement even being lifted and on 33s. I love it. I just need to get help with the death wobble, i emailed you hoping to have a conversation about it.

On the way home the jeep did the wobble. It's very violent, around 40mph if I hit the right kinda bump it starts and don't stop till I slow down to 10mph. I took it for alignment with no change..... at this point I'm outta money and disgusted with the dang thing, I live in El paso Texas and this would be an awesome place to open a real shop. I was building this rig to start doing offroad recovery and now my xj still ain't usable and I'm broke af trying to get it right. The lift is short arm ....I blew my tire budget trying to fix the wobble so it's riding on 33in ko2s that are old af. But ride smooth and no broken belt or tread issues. The wobble didn't start till after the engine install and that whole mess was bad, I can't find anything loose, none of the other places I've taken it can find any loose parts either. It also has a new steering gear box and brace plates
That engine running on pump gas, without a tune, and not pinging may be the wildest part of this build.
Timing tables on the factory computer are very conservative !

@Pitstopcomponents oh it also has new uca bushings in the axle side. I forget what brand but they are the upgraded ones
We’re is ur shop got 2 door jeep xj but trying do 4x4
