    Hope ya'll enjoy the latest Final Fantasy 7 Lore video covering JENOVA. Now I'll be focusing on the next TES video, which will be a big one! Thanks everyone for the support!

    It's strange to me that more people don't discuss Jenova. It seems like one of the most interesting aspects of 7, but only gets mentioned in passing while discussing Sephiroth's origins.

    • @BloodMoonInstitute
      @BloodMoonInstitute  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Fingers crossed Jenova get's fleshed out more in the next installments. It's wild how much is going on in FF7 with Shinra draining the planet's life force, Sephiroth bringing about the end of the world with meteor and all the while you have this alien threat that wiped out a whole civilization and it's essentially a minor background character. I'm a huge fan of the THING so Jenova has always been interesting to me.

      @BloodMoonInstitute The Thing is my favorite horror film. 🤌
      I assume they left "her" vague and mysterious on purpose to add a sense of cosmic horror. Fear of the unknown.

    • @BloodMoonInstitute
      @BloodMoonInstitute  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      More than likely. I just hope we get more backstory and potential flashbacks to how the Cetra met their end. I especially want to see how Jenova mimicked their loved ones and the dead to gain the upper hand because it's so spooky. Plus, I'd like to learn more about the virus it infected the Cetra with.

    • @BloodMoonInstitute
      @BloodMoonInstitute  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Thing is an absolute masterpiece. The isolation, paranoia and suspense brought on by not knowing who is infected, and the best practical effects and body horror possibly ever seen on film makes it one of the best.

      I think it’s because people prefer to have JENOVA entirely mysterious and we don’t need to know about everything about what the alien is like its species, if it has actual intelligence instead of instincts to destroy shit, its background history/backstory and all that stuff.
      People just like the simple and mysterious and scary vibe of JENOVA. Similar to the Xenomorph of the ALIEN franchise or JAWS. A looming threat that you’d never expect to strike and when it does, you’re done for.
      FF7 reveals to you, “This is a mysterious threat from the stars aiming to manipulate and eliminate all life of all the Planet’s children and use its parasitic abilities to take the power of the Lifestream and merge with the husk to move elsewhere to keep the cycle going.”

    “Listen, and understand. That Jenova is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.”

    I'm more inclined to believe that Sephiroth only controls Jenova, in as much as Jenova allows him, or rather Sephiroth's independence from Jenova is really an illusion and he has become one with Jenova and has lost his independence (made clear by the fact that his will is essentially an expression of Jenova's).

    • @BloodMoonInstitute
      @BloodMoonInstitute  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You could be right. Perhaps everything sephiroth is doing just happens to fit in with Jenova’s agenda and sephiroth only has the illusion of free will.

    • @hpwilliams0
      @hpwilliams0 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s almost obvious, especially the way the remakes are going, is that JENOVA is always in control and is using Sephiroth as a vessel. It’s literally foreshadowed when you first find her- she’s in the form of a Cetra victim. JENOVA’s whole arsenal of power revolves around illusion and self-destruction. It’s my hypothesis is that these remakes are going to show Sephiroth trying to peel himself away from JENOVA. I think when Aerith says “you’re WRONG,” she’s talking JENOVA itself and not the illusion of Sephiroth.

      Yeah I've watched a video about something like this before. I FELT square Enix is saying "OH sephiroth is the one in control" for like fan service or whatever 🙄
      It WOULD make so much sense for jenova to be in CONTROL.
      It would make sephiroths death a story more tragic
      Cuz this would mean he truly died at the the nibliem incident without knowing the truth AN THATS the end for the REAL him.
      But this also goes to show how smart jenova was
      LIKE how she LEARNED from the past from when she was sealed to not ATTACK head on AN WAIT.
      For awhile She was "Dorment" for many years or ....WAS she waiting.
      Jenova had Shinra AND cloud an crew CHASING what they thought was sephiroth THAT way nobody ever thought about HER being the main issue.
      She could use the image of sephiroth to DO all her dirty work. NOT to mention hojos
      Willing aid. Which EVEN if we think about HOW evil he was COULD it be possible he inject himself with jenova cells WAY before the events of crisis core AN that's why HE'S so unhinged. Making EVERYONE do HER dirty work while she thrives in the shadows.

    I think it was actually the reverse. It was probably in the forum of a cetra ( maybe a family member of one of the last cetra fighting it in the last battle).
    Mid transformation into a monster form before it was defeated.

    If they do a final fantasy 7 origins it would have to show how Janova arrived. It would be cool if it were the last child or extension of the creator from Final fantasy 4 the later years. After the creator was killed and the true mine destroyed, a Maranda merged with what was left of the creator and it crashed to Gaia.

    Jenova gives me the chills. I’d love to see more of the Cetra combating it. How that whole thing played out. So fascinated. I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like for them to have to go up against such a terrifyingly terrible threat.

    I always thought that Angil was a baby that got Jenova cells implanted just after his birth, Genesis was given Jenova cells when he was still in the woumbs of his mother and Sephiroth was truely the son of Jenova and Hojo implanted in the body of Lucretia who was a host mother...
    To me it made perfect sens that any peoples who recived Jenova cells perished from the geostigmats exept Sephiroth because of their body tries to reject the alien cells within them... but Sephiroth became one with it... to the point that gathering his remains resurect him...
    it would make sens that to achive a perfect fusion between Jenova cells and humain body, that would not be done by implanting cells into a already existing body but to create a hybrid by fecoundation...

    I've just concluded that Jenova is a direct spawn of Chaos. As in Chaos and Cosmos that bring balance to the wider FF franchise. No extraplanetary origin or anything like that. Simply a cosmic horror spawned by the raw force of Chaos itself.
    However at one point, I had a cookoo theory. Put on your clown socks for this one:
    Al-Bhed from X became space-faring far into Spira's future, and migrated into the stars. They named their fleet after Shinra, the brilliant engineer who would coin space travel. But over a long period of time, they became corrupt. They would settle on new hospitable worlds, be they untapped, or thriving with sentient life. The latter would be infected with a bioweapon that would end all sapients (humans) and make-way for Shinra colonization. They obtained an asteroid to infected it with J-cells and fired it down on Gaia, at the epicenter of the world's civilization.
    Now why would they do this?? To enrich the planet's "farplane", and reap its overabundant energy. Sound familiar?
    History would then repeat itself as the Shinra company went on to dominate the world into the millenia, eventually losing any account of their lineage being extraterrestrial. Eventually the ice-bound mimic of its final victim would be recovered, and in the corrupt legacy of the Shinra, commandered her. "Reunited" with her. The rest is history.
    But, no. I'm sticking with Chaos-spawn.

    Jenova and Hojo are both the true villains in FFVII. Jenova is the cosmic one, and Hojo the mortal (un)human one. Sephiroth is the tragic hero.
    Problem with Sephiroth who is merely physcially the best soldier, he is not known of having high mental capabilities, he never shown any of that prior to falling into the lifestream. He just have it out of the sudden.
    I don't care if Sephiroth is in control as offical stated by Squareenix, he got corrupted by Jenova cells injected by Hojo, before he was born. When exposed to Jenova's physical remains in Nibelheim, he turned. Like some kind of presence activated in him. I do not even think it was the revelation what he was, but just beeing near to Jenova.
    I love the Thing and i am a big fan, but Jenova is more subtle. If this would be the Thing, only the Thing would be in control without a debate and Sephiroth just be a host body of many.
    Sepiroth's new found capabilties to excert control over Jenova cells and the lifestream needs to be more fleshed out and explained at some point by the writers, because it really does not make too much sense, to overpower an alien creature with thousands of years expierence in controlling people by the mind and extinct a whole race like the cetra.
    Maybe the Cetra managed to destroy Jenova's mind and will, that would explain a thing or 2. It would also explain why it was dormant for such a long time.
    Something is just missing in this story and i watched every documentary about it i possibly could.

      I've read your comment a few times and wow, I think you've really hit the nail on the head with your perspective. As you say, we need to see more in the story as to what happened with the Cetra and I really hope they give us a little more insight without ruining the mystery.
      I really appreciate you and hopefully I can make a new video when rebirth comes out and I can hear more of your thoughts.

      @@BloodMoonInstitute Thank you. Btw, looks like Sephiroth is a confirmed Protagonist in Rebirth, typical tragic hero. He even looks the part, like Alucard in Symphony of the Night. Really, compare their looks released in the same 1. Quater of the year 1997. "Tragic Hero" is Alucards song, its in the OST of Symphony of the Night. They are certainly JRPG brothers. :)
      i.pinimg.com/564x/31/e4/7b/31e47b9014d8abeb0d97012dba4bae7f.jpg
      Btw, we allready had that mad human, who got god like powers in FFVI.(Kefka) I played FFVII directly after i played FFVI in the 90ies on release, so i was not as nearly as shocked by that revelation as most other dudes that did miss out on FFVI. Btw, almost the same final Boss battle theme in both style "Dante's Inferno as Pillar decending from hell, to purgatory and face god or an arch angel"and orchestrial classic music.
      The whole Sephiroth ordeal, felt like a rinse and repeat of FFVI in the final parts missing the opportunity to flesh out Jenova more. Maybe the remake is going to fix that, though. I mean, yeah the character felt kinda cool, especially when you control him and kill stuff effortlessly, but the story felt rather incomplete, he never felt like a true antagonist like Kefka, who, was without a single doubt, chaotic evil in D&D terms.(so beyond help LOL)
      Looks also like, Squaresoft(at the time) scrapped some of the original story for FFVII during development. Happens with most big games - i do not really think Sephiroth was meant to be the main villain, similar like Golbez in FFIV was not meant to be the main villain, but rather some cosmic horror. Else, Jenova wouldn't exist and eradicated the cetra and who knows how evil Hojo really was, as he injected Jenova cells into his own metabolism, maybe even long before it was confirmed in the game before Cloud fights him.
      Just imagine in the thing movie, the crew there instead of doing a blood test to find out who is the thing, they instead opt to inject thing cells into their bloodstream like Hojo did with Jenova cells. I am sure, Hojo monitored the results of many Jenova abominations he created, yet he did what he did.

    The last form jenova took was the form of the goddess in the cetra war that the wairrors of light discovered and was defeated in and sealed the crater , so when shinra discovered it they thought it might be cetran and jenova cell experiment make wing creatures like genisis and angeal and sephiroth, the loveless play was cryptic the goddess was jenova in disguise

    It seems like Jenova was based on the fallens angels/watchers that came from heaven to earth like stars. Therefore, corrupting humankind by bearing nephilims/giants with human women. There was cross breeding between humans and animals making them look like abominations
