Go GEELONG CATS! from South Carolina, USA
Hello to South Carolina 👋 Good to hear from you 😊 👍
Brilliant video of a lesser known line 👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😊
Clearly it's time the line from Geelong to Ballarat was reinstated, the tenants at Moorabool evicted, and all the stations from Bannockburn to Lal Lal restored to their former glory. I've told PTV I'll fund restoration of the broad gauge tracks from Geelong through to North Geelong, but they're too busy closing down the Airport link to even think of the benefits.
We will have to see what the future holds 👍😊
I really enjoy your cab rides. Just one thing. Can you reccommend a decently detailed map of the rail systems you cover. This is for someone on the other side of the globe who has little knowledge of the geography of your part of the world. Thanks for everything.
If you go to www.victorianrailways.net you will find a nice map of Victoria past and present. 👍😊 Glad you enjoy them 👍 😀
Thanks for another great video.
No problem 😊 Very happy you enjoyed it 👍 😊
Two Firsts here: going through North Geelong without stopping, going under the Ring Road. Again, many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😊
Many years ago there’s was a connection between North Geelong and the Ballarat line, behind the goods yard. Is it not in use now ?
It was double line which was single tracked in the 1960's and now is part of the yard. 👍😊
Had me fooled thought it was Geelong to Warrnambool line
👍😊
A neat lil video.
Also im going to try & turn every train into a Anime Girl & ALL OF YOU CANT STOP ME!!!!
Ha ha, ok. Interesting. 👍😊
Another great video mate I love watching all your videos
I am very happy to hear that 👍 very happy you enjoy them 👍 😀
@@driver667 yeah they're very good give me a few ideas at a couple locations to do filming as well
@@thex-wing glad that they help you 👍😀
@@driver667 yeah most definitely helps do you use a pro go camera
@@thex-wing yes, I do 👍😊
I was wondering how you were changing ends while not at a platform, and then I realized on a 3-car Velocity you can just walk through the train to the other cab, lol
Lol, yep, 3 cars. 👍😊
Love it once again. Still can't beat the N class horn
👍😊
Why do they change ends?. Cannot they be diverted after North Geelong to go to Moorabool via the western side of the North Geelong yard?
Yes you can go through the yard but then the vlocity is facing the opposite way to all the other vlocity units. 👍😊
Would it be a bad thing if a velocity was facing the wrong way?
@@zanevoges3360 yes as the fuel points on the vlocity would not line up, servicing equipment in the workshops won't line up properly etc. On the surface it doesn't look like much but it would create headaches behind the scenes. 👍😊
Ah ok
@@driver667 Ah, now that makes sense, all time I thought that it had three ends. The next question is now, Why not have double sided or fuel points in between two tracks at the fuel point? Yes I know getting off the point a little.
thanks for another great film, loved the fine Victorian weather.
silly question, Gippsland run one day if such a beast exists?
(You can tell which side of the city l'm from when l say things like that 😀)
Lol, glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😊

Is this a no passenger transfer to Ballarat? the wipers seem to clear the windscreen well.
Yes it is an empty transfer. The wipers worked but were noisy, lol. 👍😊
How come your train was not routed through North Geelong yard instead of reversing before North Shore station?
If we went through the yard, it would turn the vlocity around to face opposite to all the rest. 👍😊
What’s wrong with the direct track from north geelong station to C box? Or did you have to turn the train anyhow?
If we ran direct it would turn the vlocity to face opposite to all the others. 👍😊
Question why didn't he go threw North Geelong yards, why go all the way to change ends?
If the train went direct through the yard it would end up facing the opposite way to all the other vlocity units which would cause problems in servicing them. 👍😊
@@driver667 oh ok i dont understand it but ok thx for that
@@matthewmassarotti2596 some of the equipment and filling points are toward one end. If it is around the other way, nothing lines up in the fuel point or in the workshops 👍😊
@@driver667 oh I c I suppose that makes sence
@@matthewmassarotti2596 👍😊
Eventually the down line between north B and C became single line with E S, and the old UP line became the auxiliary or thru line? can some one verify that please otherwise top number.👍👍
The 1964 signal diagram is the first one that shows the down line now bidirectional and the up line now a through siding. The safe working system on the old down line was then electric staff. 👍😊
Is this the line that goes to Warrnambool?
No, this line goes to Ballarat. It is used by freight but there is no scheduled passenger service across to Ballarat. 👍😊
is this the line that goes to Ballarat?😊
It is, yes 👍😊
Yes to Ararat and Ballarat via gheringhap.use to be up and down lines between nth glg B + C
I remember the sign at Geelong that said CHANGE HERE FOR ARARAT VIA MAROONA.
The line was originally double line all the way to Ballarat 👍😊 and out the other side of Ballarat as far as Linton Junction which is where the current Wendouree station is placed. 👍😊
@@driver667 you can still see where the double line from nth glg to bxt used to be,the double line finished on the bxt side of gillies st where it diverged onto single line to axt.just after diverging thru the points there was a sdg to timkens.
